    November Bypassers!!

Hey everyone, Had my surgery on the 29th. Everything went fine in surgery. I had a lot of pain at first that they squelched w good drugs. When I tried to drink the next day, I was met w much dry heaving, which is worth than actually throwing up. Being in the hospital is AWFUL because they will not leave you alone so you can't get any rest. Because of my dry heaving I had to stay in the hospital two nights. Since I have left the hospital, I have only dry heaved once, thank goodness. I did get meds for nausea which seem to help. I still feel pretty awful and don't think I will get to work tomorrow. I was able to sleep last night for the first time since Wednesday. I guess my questions is - when do the gas pains go away and when do you start to feel somewhat normal again? I feel like a walking zombie and it's making me depressed. Thanks all. Hope you're doing well.

    November Bypassers!!

Might depend on the doctor. Or how much weight you have to lose/BMI. My doctor asked me to eat low carb two weeks prior to procedure and then all liquid 24 hours prior to procedure. My BMI is about 38 and I have 75 pounds to lose to get to a healthy weight.
  3. Did any of you have gas or bowel issues? Is that common in the sleeve procedure?
  4. Looking for tips, advice, wisdom, tidbits, what to expects, wish somebody had told me, etc. from those who have had the procedure, to those of us about to embark. Thanks in advance! Maria

    November Bypassers!!

HI all, this is my first post ever. I have surgery scheduled for November 2. Still getting all my pre-op stuff done. I'm not nervous, just anxious because I hate waiting. I am self pay and have about 85 pounds to lose. I am the healthiest fat person there is and my BMI isn't quite there, so insurance won't pay. For what I have spent on diets the last 30 years, I probably could have paid for this surgery three times over. I CAN'T WAIT to get it done. Looking forward to the journey. Nice to meet all of you. Maria
