Does anybody know why the stall and how do you get out of it. The first two months I lost 34 pounds and now for two weeks have lost nothing. They did move me to a full diet introducing 1 food at a time, but I have not been interested in trying anything yet, so I am not doing anything different just can't loose any more. This is so frustrating!!!

Hi I am doing the same thing. My surgery was 19th of March and I have lost 33 lbs. Got on the scale two days ago and weighed 3 lbs less and this morning 3 lbs more. I am going mad and yes I did check my scale and put new batteries in it. Not hormonal I'm 66 years young. I did have really extensive surgery all open (58 staples) so my activity is restricted to walking until I see the Dr. in June. My protein is 60 gm. and I drink water all the time. My diet is now regular and introduce new foods slowly. My caloric intake is about 400 to 700 as tolerated. I do feel a little hunger now but not ravenous and limit my portion size. What is the average weight loss per month? Am I just beating myself up over this? I appreciate any help.

I had my surgery 3/19 and boy did I get jammed up! Woke up in ICU and had tubes everywhere. I think when you go into this you have to realize that there is always the chance that they have to go in and do it the old fashioned way. That is what happened to me. It has been almost 3 weeks now and I got the feeding tube out yesterday. I am fine though. I have worked my way up to a soft diet and have lost 20 pounds. I can drink fine and take my pills. So I am blessed all around. I did have a crying jag about week 2 wondering why in the hell did I do this at my age, but soon got over it. Of course I don't want to go back to the way I was. Met with physical therapy yesterday and they said it is time for me to start taking nice long walks UGH, guess I need to suck it up and get on with the program! Best of Luck to you.

Are you nervous? I am and I don't know why. This isn't my first rodeo. Maybe my nerves will calm down when I get there. Good Luck to you and stay in touch.

My surgery date is March 19th and I am excited and nervous. I have been worried about after and if I can handle this. You have made me feel so great today and I am sure in the coming weeks before my surgery I will read and reread your story. You can get on this site sometimes and read too much information, but today you truly made me feel better about my decision. Thank You and God Bless You -
Yes I got insurance approval Humana. March 19th is my go date. Revision from lapband to gastric bypass. Guys look I am 66. If I can do this anybody can do this.

Finally got my surgery date March 19, 2019. I am excited and nervous if that is possible. Of course my family thinks I'm nuts, but they are very supportive. My insurance approved everything except dietician. Dr. Brebrick at Aspirus will be doing my surgery. He did my lap band removal and he was terrific. Ok this will be robotic surgery. When I went in to have my lap band removed I did not get the happy shot before they wheeled me in. Everybody was running around in masks, I looked up and saw this massive equipment hanging from the ceiling with all kinds of arms hanging out. All I could think of was "I saw this movie".LOL Anyway things went great and he made me take a 4 month recovery before he would give me a surgery date. I am ready to feel better and to live the next third of my life healthy.

Senior Moment: Does age matter?
wanda1952 replied to nomoe52's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am 66 and scheduled for bypass surgery in March. I had failed band and it was removed in November. The doctor is making me wait 4 months before next surgery. He had to remove a lot of scar tissue. I was supposed to go home the same day but stayed in hospital 3 days. I am nervous about upcoming procedure, but I am going through with it. I guess it is all the waiting. Is it harder to recover at this age or do we experience the same as our younger counterparts. My sister is 7 years younger and she looks and feels remarkable. She also had skin removed, breast implants, and tummy tuck. I have read a lot on this forum about tiredness, not getting enough protein and fluid, constipation, pain. Maybe the forum is scaring me a bit. LOL -

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at your story. Bless your heart and you are so brave having all of this done at the holiday. Your surgery date echoes your determination. My date for my revision is in Feb. not sure of exact day yet. I have decided to follow the Doctor recommendation and go with bypass. So many emotions crop up. Do it or don't do it. This is my second time around and I just pray that this is the right tool to help me. Please stay in touch and let me know how you are. Don't hold back anything after your surgery and let us know how you are doing.

Thank You I can really use a friend to travel with. My bypass will be done in Feb. I am really excited. My family has mixed feelings like this is another one of mom's nutty ideas. Someone asked me why now at 66 and I told them that my whole adult life I wanted to be a pole dancer and walked off. Really I want to feel better and know that I can accomplish something for myself.

Hi well I'm starting a new journey also. 9 years ago I had a lap band and 11/13 I had that removed. I am scheduled for bypass in Feb. after the healing. After all this you would think that I would not be apprehensive NOT TRUE. The lap band was a horrible failure. I have kept off between 40 and 50 pounds over the years, but I am still morbidly obese. I have had had that title most of my 66 years. What was funny when they took me into surgery and I moved over to the operating table I looked up and saw the robotic stuff and thought "What the Hell am I doing here, just get up and go home". However I am in for the long haul and talked myself down off the cliff. I know I will not fail this time. I am motivated, I can diet, and I can lose weight these things I know. The unknown is how do I incorporate this new tool (gastric bypass) to really improve my life. Like so many others I know I will learn and this time really succeed. God Bless You and I will Pray for you. Stay in touch and let me know all the ins and outs and maybe we can support each other. Wanda

I am going to have my bypass done in Feb 2018. Did you go on any special diet beforehand? If so where can I find a diet to follow before surgery? Thank You for your help. My sister had bypass 10 years ago and said she never had dumping. I have asked her questions and she said that she didn't really follow any special diet in the months before just right before surgery.

Well I hope I am in the right forum this time. On 11/13/18 I had the lap band removed, what was supposed to take 15 min. to 45 min. took 4 hours. My husband was pretty nervous about this. The Dr. came out and told him that there was a lot of scar tissue that had to be removed and asked if I had had any other surgery done. My husband told him that only what I had told him about. I did have full disclosure with my Dr.. He said also that the reason I was having so much side pain is that they had put in a cancer port instead of a lap band port it was flipped. Has anyone on here ever heard of this happening. I had the lap band done in San Antonio Tx by a reputable Dr. 9 years ago. I would like to make a stink about it but I don't want to get caught up in the good ole Dr. club. One won't say anything about another. This surgery kicked my butt, I am 4 days out and am still in a lot of pain, cramps and spasms. I do want to go ahead with my gastric bypass in Feb. I like the Dr. I have now and really want to trust in him. It is so difficult when these things happen to people. Did the other Dr. in Texas think I would never find out. Probably this is why they could never do a fill. I would appreciate any input you may have. Thank You
