Anyone in the purée stage try the light version of the laughing cow Swiss? Seems very creamy and low fat?
-
Darci why is more than one shake a day not good? Just curious, thanks. :). Also, you eat 4oz 5 times a day?

Back on the road and onto puréed food
vic91218 replied to vic91218's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That’s a good idea Zeb! I used low-fat mayo and mustard, salt and pepper, and a little franks hot sauce. Coming off liquids to this, has been great so far. -
Hey guys, as of today it’s been two weeks since my surgery. I was approved for purées today, the same day that I also hit the road on my first tour since surgery. I’m a touring musician. www.victorwainwright.com I feel pretty good so far (6 hours drive in, 8 more to go today). 12 day tour. Here’s my supplies; Nutri Bullet Measuring spoon/cup Protein shakes Protein flavored powder for water Cans of soup Puréed Egg salad (I made a small batch today with low-fat mayo and mustard) Cans of chilli Low fat can of refuted beans Cans of chicken (also have some franks hot sauce which has been tolerated very well for me so far on liquid stage) Some sugar free pudding (non-fridge) Sugar free jello (non-fridge) Laughing cow low fat Swiss cheese I can of course go back to the grocery store throughout the tour, but I’m trying to make sure I have a variety of things on hand. I’ve been using sugar free ice pops for when I get head hunger, but I won’t have a good freezer while on the tour so I’m hoping sugar free jello will help there. So far today I’ve had a premier protein shake, 2oz of egg salad (not sure if I’m suppose to eat 2 or 4 oz of this?) though my stomach felt full as i finished the 2oz, I could of eating more shortly after I feel like? I also had a sugar free pudding cup. Any input, thoughts or ideas for simple stuff is most welcome. :)

I have just tried puréed egg salad but it’s definitely allowed on the puréed stage as far as my docs guidelines.

Zeb I’m feeling like the puréed egg salad I had today has definitely helped with head hunger for me as well. I’m looking forward to trying a purées chicken salad soon, but so far puréed vegetable soup, and egg salad have been just fine. Same with sugar free pudding, I haven’t tried yogurt yet. -
Is this hunger normal? I’m VERY worried
vic91218 replied to nursenays's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For anyone and everyone in the early stages worrying that their surgery didn’t take, or that it isn’t working for them, please slow down, and calmly take a nice breath. You are perfectly normal, and just like many many others on here that have shared similar experiences, the feelings of hunger after surgery aren’t uncommon. :) The liquid diet phase is usually two weeks. I was hungry during this period as well, and also had a whole lot of head hunger. Liquids slipped right on through not creating any feeling of fullness really. The thing is, some people heal faster than others, and some experience more or less swelling than other people. When you’re reading posts with patients describing a hard time getting liquids down, it’s usually because their new stomachs are are still very much healing, and it’s taking it’s time, probably with some serious swelling. If you’re hungry, consider that your stomach is actually healing really well, and doing just fine! The liquid / purée stages, from what I understand, are here to help our stomachs heal from surgery. That’s it. It’s not fun that liquids pass through your band, sleeve or pouch, but think of it as your stomach doing pretty well! Do not fret or worry. Purées and soft foods are next, and once you get past purées and onto more solid food, I assure you, at least according to most of the posts on this forum, you will feel new feelings of “full” and satisfied again. Just take your time and know that it’s coming! This is another hard part on our journey, but it’s worth it!! You’re worth it!! Let’s continue to heal up together and know that this will get better! 💪 😊 Band Surgery 8/12/2008 Weighed 425 Sleeve Surgery 12/12/28 Weighed 306 Two weeks post op from the sleeve, and currently weigh 292. Today was first day of purées. I do feel more restriction and full compared to liquids! I expect it will be much more pronounced after this with more solid food. -

Thank you Wanda! Great tips. 👍 I will check out Pinterest for recipes. So far so good today. Dealing with head hunger from being back on the road and in the touring bus. I spent a tremendous amount of hours in the past eating out of habit or boredom while touring to help pass the time, so I guess that’s to be expected. If I mix puréed vegetables in with a meal, would it be 2oz protein purée and 2oz of vegetable purée? For a total of 4oz or 1/2 cup? Just want to make sure I’m not overdoing it. Obviously I would stop regardless before feeling too “full”. -
Thank you for sharing that video FluffyChix. Very informative, and explains very well why acid in your stomach can cause hunger post surgery. It’s very important if you’re feeling hungry, to make sure you’re taking that antacid.

I went in for my two weeks post op today and have lost 15lbs since surgery Dec 12th. Moving onto purées and I’m also hitting the road today (traveling musician). I have soups I plan to purée, and some canned chicken to do the same. Low fat mayo, hot sauce etc. I also made a small batch of egg salad that I can keep cool in the cooler. I have these little 2oz plastic cups with lids that I plan to fill ahead of meals so I know what my portion should be. I guess it should be one or two of these right? On purées is 2-4 ounces per meal what you guys are doing? How many times a day for y’all?

Any band to sleeve conversions here?
vic91218 replied to Jendkopp's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the band in 2008, and was sleeved Dec 12th of this year. So far so good! Down 15lbs since surgery. I can try my best to answer any questions you may have about how the beginning of the revision has been. -
Hey Seaforest and others, I start this diet tomorrow, and I’m wondering did you just start with one egg scrambled? Or two?

vic91218 replied to pinksparkle1965's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
You are not strange and definitely not alone. These surgeries prevent us from eating too much too quick, but as far as food addiction, and all the emotions that come with certain foods and certain times of the year, that’s still hard for just about everybody I think. So you’re not alone! My family made Lasagna for Christmas as always. I settled with the Ricotta Bake recipe that’s floating around here and I was able to curb the head hunger. Somehow puréed Lasagna seemed a little too soon.... -
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everyone is doing well. :)

Anyone tried adding black olive to this?

Please help me, I have terrible regret RNY
vic91218 replied to RuthD's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It is not uncommon to feel regret immediately after this surgery. It’s actually more common than you think. You’re not alone. Other people have felt like you and you will make it through this. You should seek a counselor or therapist in the meantime to assist you with your thoughts and help coach you. You will be alright!!! In a few weeks you will start to feel much much better. In fact, everyday from here on out!! Just take this one day at a time. -
Anyone else have an easy/hard time with liquids during their 2 week post op? I’ve read not to be too concerned regarding “restriction” during this phase, but man I’m not feeling too much of any restriction with protein drinks or even sugar free pudding really. Maybe a little bit with the pudding... but I’m only eating the one serving. I’m also experiencing some real head hunger but I guess from what I’ve read this is somewhat normal during this full liquid stage too? Reading you guys talking about bariatric lasagna... 😳 Brother, that day can’t come soon enough! I’m suppose to move onto purées this next Thursday. Any ways, I’m having a tough time with full liquids, not because it’s hard to get them down, but because it’s easy to get them down, if that makes sense? Sticking to it regardless! I knew liquids through the holidays wasn’t going to be easy. :) I’m just hoping that once I get onto purées I feel restriction, and with that a feeling of being satisfied.

On the road again, just can’t wait to get...
vic91218 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everybody. I’m new here and I’m wondering if any of you out there make a living on the road? I’m a professional musician, and I’ve been touring constantly for the last 15 years. I had the LapBand surgery in 2008. I weighed 425lbs, and lost just over 100lbs. Since then however, I gained a lot of it back. :( in 2017, I weighed 380lbs again. I’m pretty sure it was me that failed the band, but either way, I finally made it back to my surgeon to discuss options earlier this year. I’ve been working hard and I’m down to 318. I’m ready to take a new step, and have made the decision, along with my surgeon, to move forward with a revision surgery schedule now for Dec 12th. I was approved by my insurance and all seems well.... However, I’m of course nervous. Giving my past failing with the band, road life, being sedentary for so many hours at a time.... I’m just wondering if anyone else is living out on the highway? Truck drivers, other musicians, etc. What do you do for excelsior? Food? Any advice or tips? My biggest concern and point of stress is, I return to touring Dec 27th. Right when I’m making a proposed transition from liquids to purées. I’m wondering how I’m going to manage that while touring. How to prepare for those two weeks I’ll be traveling, spending most my time in a bus, or hotel room. I hope everyone is doing well today. Thank you for reading and thank you for your response. Looking forward to chatting with some of you. :) Cheers! -
