What can I safely take for low back pain?
irish_sleever replied to Letsgetgoing2018's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am a doc and a pain doc at that but do double check with your own docs office at the very least its a good idea to have them in the loop on any new meds you start taking. -

if you have some codeine/tramadol you could take that too. Most surgeons prefer you to avoid nsaids but if its very bad a one off 100mg diclofenac suppository might do the trick and will generally be tolerated well but always check with your own docs office before trying any NSAIDS. -
Absolute best of luck tomorrow you've got this!!

16 mths out of sleeve gastrectomy , first ever pregnancy
irish_sleever replied to trimarie1083's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats thats great news best of luck with your pregnancy. Let us know how you get on through this experience. -
Having a weird experience the last day or so, pretty much everything is tasting sickly sweet to me. I was drinking protein shakes pre-op that I liked and now i'm struggling to drink them as I find them wicked sweet. This must be the change in taste buds some people talk about.. In other news 3 days left of liquids then onto soft diet and im definitely going to make that ricotta bake that some people made on this forum, i can't wait to taste some cheese ha (hopefully it agrees with me) Has anyone any other suggestions for their first food they are gonna make when they are allowed soft/pureed food??

Do you have powerade thats pretty similar too.. might be easier to find. -
I had those same thoughts that you guys are having and was overwhelmed at times, I focused on the future to get me through and the reasons I was doing this in the first place. Yes it sucks that we got to this place but we have the oppprtunity to correct ourselves and to do something for ourselves that is truly wonderful. As the guys have said do something nice now to cheer yourself up, I went to a spa the day before surgery and felt completely relaxed after it, even got myself a massage. Now cheer up hold your head high and dont let this decision weigh you down. You got this and we're all here routing for you

First post-op weigh in totally ecstatic lost 10pounds in the first week post op (4.6kilos) and over 30 pounds since i've started the pre-op diet. So excited to see what week two will bring.
-
You will do great the first day or so is rough and then it settles. In a weeks time you'll be starting to feel back to yourself again. We are all here routing for yah Everyone has a different experience I reckon post op but best advice is to sip the water get moving and avoid the pain killers as much as yah can.

Don't worry about the protein drinks at the start but make sure you get that water in anyway how i found just having a glass beside me all the time helped remind me to drink. Add some flavouring to it if it makes it better... As per always though if your worried give your team a call to check in with them. My team fortunately call me daily so i guess im fortunate that way.

Day 6 post op and god im getting sick of the liquid diet on it for three weeks now :@ I think when i get back to solid food ill never have a soup or broth again.. Hows everyone doing so far? Going to weigh myself tomorrow for first time post op. Doing it every Friday from now on which is my surgery day. Feel like doing it once weekly might be a bit healthier for my mind than doing it sporadically.
-
Think theres an element of getting you used to the fact you can have absolutely nothing solid post-op though tbh. Nutritionally they are perfect and ideal for the purpose of liver shrinkage but mentally doesn't help you for the post-op part. But in the end of the day was just 2 eggs

Best of luck everyone who is having the op today! Thinking of you guys

Sounds delish, I’m counting down the days till I can have soup or mashed potatoes again ha. The day will come! For now I sip and wait.. Watch out for day 3/4 on liquids I thought I was having a stroke but it was just the come down off of sugar it goes away fight through it. Maybe warn people around you..
-
Oh ive had that happen a few times, quickly reminded that my body doesnt let me do things like that anymore. I now sip and wait.

Just had the op last Friday so in recovery mode now. Had a tough day and night after the surgery but was fine then after that. It’s been getting better and better since then. I’m excited now to start utilizing the sleeve to see what it can do.
-
Best of luck guys for whomever is this week. Liquid diet sucks but it’s helping for sure with the post op diet. I am counting down the days to have some soup with texture again. Going to weigh myself weekly on the same day as my surgery which will be a Friday. Trying to prep myself for the rollacoaster the next year is going to bring.

No the protocol here is to stay two nights as standard. Which suits me as I was in no shape to go anywhere this morning. Still cant believe how much better I am today. Gas pain is no joke. Also had a litte gas out the back end which is also kind of a victory.. tmi I know but there yah go.
-
Hey guys, im day one post op not gonna lie I had a really rough day yesterday andlast night all due to gas pain. Was pretty brutal feeling way better today though so I guess if it happens it does go away eventualy. They gave me a difene suppository this morning and tha worked a treat. Feeling a bit tender still but allowed free fluids now. Hoping each day is a step in the right direction now.

November 2018 Sleevers!?!?
irish_sleever replied to Sealeafi's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It’s the night before surgery, can’t get to sleep. I’m a mix of nervous and excited. Hopefully goes ok. -
Getting sleeved in the UK but was born in Boston. The mind plays awful tricks on you. Two days ago, 12 days in to my pre op diet my dad had a bowl of cornflakes and I thought id have ti restrain myself as I wanted a bowl so bad. Somehow resisted. This is going to take all the mental power we have to get the results were looking for. Focusing on the reasons I want to loose weight to get me through. Back pain heart arrythmias and living my fullest life. We got this.

Day 2,3,4 are the worst of the liquid/pre op diet I thought I was having a stroke on day 3. Just goes to show how real a drug sugar is. My surgery is tomorrow just finished pre op today. A mix between excited and nervous now.

Hi Guys, Have my surgery scheduled for this Friday, getting nervous now. Having it done in the UK so flying out tomorrow morning for pre-op in the afternoon. Coming to the end of this 2 week pre-op diet. Ive been on a low cal low carb diet which has been tough but ive lost a good 8kilos on it so far. Cant wait to be on the other side if this. Surgery date is 11/30/2018 falling between two threads so will be involved in both.
