    Speed of weight loss

This is entirely based upon each individual. Try to focus less on how much you're losing, and more on living a healthier lifestyle. As you begin to lose weight, being more active becomes a lot easier.

    Nauseous

For me that went away after a few months. It only seemed to happen with really fatty/rich foods.

    1 Year Surgervisary

    Amazing transformation, congrats!
  4. I am light skinned, had multi-port surgery. I am 11 months out, and the scars are so small you can't really see them. One exception is the larger scar above my navel where they removed the stomach. It's larger and a bit thicker than where the trocars went in.

    Post-op weight loss expectations

Everyone loses at a different pace. On Average, I've lost 0.45# a day for the last 338 days. However there were times over the last 11 months where I didn't lose anything for 2-3 weeks, and then all of a sudden I would drop 10 pounds.

    november sleeve

Positive changes. TONS more energy No more back pain No more knee pain Air travel is so much nicer now (no seat belt extenders, and lots more room!) Loads more confidence. So much so that I finally asked for a much deserved raise, and received almost double what I was hoping for. Not everything on guys gets smaller with tons of weight loss, some things get much larger. I've had no relationship changes, I've been married for 14 years, if anything my relationship got STRONGER with this surgery, as I was able to see just how much my carrying this much extra weight affected her as well. I feel closer to her now than before surgery, both physically and emotionally. Negative The more weight I lose the more I realize how shallow people are. Folks that didn't make eye contact or give me the time of day are suddenly smiling and making small talk. Especially the opposite gender. That kinda makes you feel like crap at first, but I've come to accept that it's human nature to an extent.

I HATE I GOT THIS STUPID SURGERY!

Stick with it, you can do this. It will get better, and you will not even remember this very very short period in your overall recovery.

    Fat floats!

Lol. I've lost a ton and noticed the same thing this summer. I'm like a deflated baloon, and I still have 100 more pounds to shed.

    Sleeve failure??

The sleeve doesn’t fail. It’s mechanical. The surgery is a tool, nothing more. If you still eat like crap, the sleeve will fail. If you snack all day long on calorie dense food, the sleeve will fail. If you drink caloric drinks, the sleeve will fail. Edit: Just to clarify, if you're talking about "stretching" your sleeve will never stretch more than 10-15% from the size that it was surgically changed to. There is a lot of research to back this up. So if someone tells you they stretched their sleeve back out, and thats how they gained the weight, they're not being truthful with you in all likelihood.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Hi folks! Thought I’d give an update on my progress. I always wished people would update when they were a year or close to a year out. I got so stoked reading those types of posts. Started at 468, sleeved on 12/4. Current weight is 310, working on losing another 60# over the next 8 months or so. It has been a long journey, but one I’m glad to have taken. I knew that my weight affected every facet of my life, but I had forgotten just what it was like to be alive. I am doing things now I haven’t done in 25 years. The amount of energy I have is shocking. I just got back from a Disney trip(not a single issue with any rides at Disney, yay!) and I never ran out of energy chasing my 4 kids around the park. That would have destroyed me before the surgery. Confidence in my professional career is through the roof, I have made so many career moves since surgery that I’m embarrassed how much I was short changing myself for so long. My body is still changing rapidly, and I sometimes can’t see those changes. I look in the mirror and I can see that I look different, but I sometimes see that old guy staring back at me that weighs 468#, I think it’s going to take a very long time to rewrite my self image. When I started this journey I scoured this forum for any posts by guys that fit my demographic and didn’t find that many. I told myself that I wanted to contribute so others in my position might read something that would inspire them to make a change. Just do it man. Those knees that hurt every time you get out of a chair? That goes away. The constant back pain when standing on your feet. It goes away The high blood pressure? Gone Diabetes? Gone (my latest A1c was 5.1) No meds Having to immediately scope out seating when you arrive somewhere to make sure it will support you or fit your butt. Doesn’t happen any more Sex life not the greatest? Holy crap dude. Total difference. EVERYTHING is better in that department. But most important? You will find the person that you know you are, others will see that person, and you will be so much happier.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Yesterday marks the 6 month mark since surgery. I've lost 123 pounds since I started this journey. Some days are a challenge to remember to eat slow, that is still my biggest hang up. I've adjusted well to the eating changes, and have a much happier outlook on life.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Hi Folks! I haven't posted in a while, but thought I would drop this in. When I was browsing this forum before surgery, I would scour the pages for before and after pics of people that had similar starting stats to me. I'm going to share a few. In these pictures, I am at my heaviest ever weight on the left. 468lbs. In the pictures on the right, I am at 373. I had my surgery on December 4th 2018. I hope everyone finds the success they want, and lives the life they deserve to live. Cheers!
  16. My advice would be not to do the band. Many surgeons don't even do them anymore. I was sleeved on 12/4/18 and would do it again in a heartbeat.

    250 pounds lost!

That is a huge inspiration. I am starting at a similar weight, and this gives me so much encouragement!
  19. Hope you're able to get it sorted out!

    December 2018 Sleevers!

I wish mine was that high. I had mine on December 4th and have only lost 21# in that time. However, in the last 6 weeks I've lost 45#

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Glad i'm not the only one dealing with a stall.. I lost a good bit the first 2 weeks, and then hit a wall for 2 weeks, and only lost 3# in 2 weeks, and then yesterday I lost 4# overnight.
