Hey guys! I'm 6 weeks post op and my doctor says I can now move to solid food- but I'm having a hard time with meat- even the really soft kinds like slow cooked pork, beef and chicken. I can however have ground pork and beef and it's fine. How long until you sleevers got to tolerate actual solid food and what did you start with? Thank you!

What veggies did you start with in the solid food stage?

Hey guys! I'm 2 weeks into the solid food stage and I'm craving some veggies but I'm scared of how my sleeve will take it. I've just been going on protein for the past 2 weeks but I am looking for some sides to pair them with. Any suggestions? What did you start with and how did you make them? Thank you! -

tofu was a lifesaver for me in the soft stage, especially when I couldn't tolerate the shakes anymore -

Oh man that's tough. Weirdly I found that ground pork was the easiest for me to start with -

Same here- I get this pain in the middle of my chest if I eat too fast or don't chew well enough. Unfortunately I still throw up whenever this happens but it does serve as a good reminder. -

Thank you! I do miss having sides and not just pure protein so hopefully I can tolerate those soon -

How were you guys with veggies when you were new at the solid food stage? I know we should focus on protein but sometimes I need a bit of variety to pair my proteins with. Any tips? -

I know what you mean. There are some proteins I can finish a whole portion but when it comes to beef- I'm only a few forkfulls and I'm done -

Nice. I'm excited to get back to steaks but I know I'm definitely not ready for that yet -

Good point- sometimes I get full from the taste from chewing it too much rather than being actually full from the portions -

Thanks! Chili has worked great for me too. I'm scared to try any more fish from the last time I did but perhaps cod might work since it's a bit more flakey -

I'm getting much better with the chewing though I still have to remind myself to slow down sometimes. Turkey ham has worked great so far -

Eggs are a godsend for me right now as it's my easiest protein source. I don't think I'm ready enough for porkchops any time soon haha I'll definitely try some slowcooker recipes and hopefully they're soft enough for my sleeve to tolerate. Thanks! -

Thank you! Weirdly it's the "harder meat" I can tolerate and fish and chicken just don't sit well on my sleeve. Hopefully this is just a phase and my sleeve will get over it. Thank goodness for eggs as that's the best I can tolerate for now -

Thanks! I tried fish a few days ago and unfortunately it wasn't so pleasant. Tuna I can't tolerate as well I'll experiment with other kinds and hopefully I find a few choices that work -

Thank you! Unfortunately I'm allergic to most seafood so I don't have that option ( I wish I could have shrimp as I feel like that's a good starter for solids ) I'm doing well with burger meat though and so far I've been having that if my choices are limited when eating out. Weirdly chicken doesn't go down so well either- both ground and soft but I'm experiment with other ways of cooking and hopefully I find something that works -
Hey guys! I was just wondering if anyone ever experienced eating too big chunks of food? I've just started on soft foods and still getting the hang of eating slowly and chewing super well and sometimes I just really forget to chew and end up swallowing bigger pieces. Luckily they're soft foods (eggs to be exact) so I haven't had any issues but just wondering what happens if you swallow a too big of a piece of let's say chicken or meat? Does it get stuck in your pouch? and how would you know to seek medical help or to wait it out? Thank you!

Same here- I really need to practice eating mindfully. It's harder than I thought it would be
