    Forgetting to chew

    I agree- it's re-training myself that's harder

    Forgetting to chew

I mashed a boiled potato with some sauce from a stew the other day and it went down fine. I just had to make sure I mashed it super well

    Forgetting to chew

Yeah, I think it's me subconsciously trying to keep up with everyone else and I don't know why haha Funny when you mentioned the sitting beside vs. sitting across thing too

    Forgetting to chew

Thank you, Matt. I'll definitely be more careful from now on. I'm imagining scenarios of me being wheeled into the ER to remove something stuck in my pouch- definitely want to avoid that. We're a family of fast eaters so I really have to train myself to put my fork down between bites.
  8. Hello! I just wanted to ask as I'm just 12 days post-op but I am struggling with getting my protein in. I would hit just about 15-20 grams and my doctor wanted me to hit 50 a day. How many grams of protein did you hit when you were at this stage? I'm still at the full liquids stage and I'm having a hard time with my protein shakes and protein water as I just can't get them down. Am I doomed?
  9. Will try these out too. Thanks!
  10. Too true but thank you, I appreciate it
  11. Thanks for the tip- I'm just so sick of the shakes for now as I'm still on full liquids but I think once I get to the next stage and I get some actual food going, it's going to be easier to reach my protein goals or at least I hope
  12. I see your point and I appreciate the honest feedback. My doctor wants me to hit at least 40 grams and I'm currently hitting a max of 30g so I definitely need to step it up. I think the pressure was just getting to me and I've been getting so anxious about not hitting it so I do need to relax a bit but figure out a system to my protein going. So I guess I need to do a mix of both haha
  13. 30 grams per bottle sounds great. I only see 15g bottles here but I do struggle with the Protein20 brand. I just might try other brands to see if they're any better. Thanks!
  14. Same! I tried and got a couple of protein waters in and I really can't get them down. Protein shakes are also a struggle for me. Water and iced tea (decaf) seem to be working the best for me and I have been trying to get in some very soft tofu (blended) so at least there's some protein there. I'm hitting my water goals so I'm happy to get that at least. I'm okay with regular yogurts but it does take me a while to finish the whole thing. The drinkable ones might be easier, I'll try those. Thank you!
  15. You're right- I should focus on healing and getting in as much as I possibly can. I'll definitely try to relax and not fret about it too much, I feel like it's doing me more harm than good haha. I don't feel hungry either or not yet anyway which I am thankful for. Thank you for this, I feel much better about not really hitting my goals everyday but I do try my best. I think just need to take it day by day.
  16. Do you guys heat up your protein powders? I was thinking of making a protein hot cocoa but wasn't sure if the heat will ruin the protein powders? I know you have to mix them with cold milk/water first and then heat them up but does heating them change any of the protein/ nutritional value?
  17. 80g is pretty awesome. I wish I could get that much!
  18. I wish I could hit 60g- hopefully the protein water will help. I'll try out the coffee combo too
  19. Not a problem and glad this has helped you too. Hopefully we can start hitting our protein goals soon!
  20. 60g looks like an unreachable goal for me right now but I'll definitely try to amp it up. I can only do 1 protein shake a day as it takes me a few hours to get through one and it somehow gets me full the rest of the day leaving little to no space for other things. Been hearing about the Isopure Zero carb too. It seems to have the best reviews for protein waters so I'll try to get some of those. Thank you
  21. Ooh this is a great tip- I'll try this for dinner. Thanks again for all the tips, I really appreciate it
  22. Oooh- I just might try that. Been craving for something on the fresh side rather than milky Also, what's your take on egg drop soup at the full liquids stage? Just looking for some ways to add more protein to my soups as well
  23. That sounds delicious- I'll definitely try those. Thank you again!
  24. Thank you! These are great ideas- I'll definitely try to experiment with my own protein shakes just to have variety. I don't know why I didn't think of making my own. I wish I could have coffee but I never was fond of the taste but I am willing to try them just so I can have something different
