Okay, so this maybe be too graphic but I need help. I have spoken to my physician assistant, & was informed to take a stool softener daily until better. I am having problems having a bowel movement most of the time. I have had to resort to using two teaspoons of epsom salt and hot water with an 8oz glass of water. I mentioned this in support group and the dietician there made a face that seemed to imply she wished I hadn’t done that, but I don’t know why. I had to leave the group earlier so I didn’t get to ask why is hat bad. Is anyone else experiencing this problem. I had my surgery on 10/8/18, the sleeve. I’m open to suggestions. Before surgery I was a pretty regular persons sometimes going twice a day, & NEVER backed up or stopped up! I actually used to enjoy going with no problems. Now I are such anxiety and distress.

@ S@ssen@ch thank you for answering me question to clearly! I was getting worried because I wasn’t sure if had done some irreversible damage by going that route. I honestly only knew about his because I remember my grandmother having to do this when I was younger. I may have to venture out and try the suppository that was mentioned earlier and the Miralax/Colace. I am now even more focused on eating more fruits and veggies. This has been a bit frustrating because I was focusing so much on protein and it’s hard to get both in. I may need to d a fiber supplement as well. The daily stool softener isn’t working as well as I thought it would. Your post was really helpful!! Thank you!

@sweettoothless Thank you for this candid post! I think I will start with the $2 starter kit from Walmart just to test it and if it works like yours did I’ll have a winner! I thought taking the daily stool softener would work but that has not been the case 😫. I have to rid the granite poo! This is my mission lol I am very glad we can have this discussion here as well! 😀😀😀

@sweettoothless thanks for the suggestion! I’ll have to look for that particular suppository. Yes this anxiety sucks so bad right now. It sometimes have me feeling like I wish I didn’t eat because I’m so worried about how is going to come out...you know painful or not. Smh

Multivitamin chewable by Celebrate makes my nauseous
Courtney86 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi everyone, I wasn’t having this problem the first couple of days I started taking the complete chewable multivitamin by Celebrate, but I have just taken my first one today and I couldn’t keep it down. I tried to eat it along with unsweetened applesauce and usually I just get really nauseous, but up it came, apple sauce included. I had surgery on 10/8, so is this something that gets better with time? Has anyone else experienced and found relieve while getting the correct vitamin in? I’m supposed to take it twice a day but I would skip the night one honestly because that is when I would feel the most nauseous, I used to be okay taking it in the morning. Suggestions are welcomed. I did consult my Surgeons’ PA when she called to check on me yesterday, I was told not to do the flit stone vitamins, but to try a different adult complete vitamin. 🤢🤮😔- 12 replies

Need some advice and a diet overhaul: 2 years post-op, 75 lbs down
Courtney86 replied to watchmeshine8's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Hello, I encourage you to seek out a counselor at your university, usually they are included in your tuition. Also seek your primary care for consultation about medication to manage depression if needed. Taking walks or small breaks during your day will help as well. At lot of what has been posted as been great advice. This will pass and you are getting through it, even if I doesn’t FEEL like it. I remember being this way when I was going through graduate school and working. I actually totaled my car during this time because my mind was so busy! I was truly distracted. I hope thing la change and you become encouraged. Sending hugs and love your way! -
Confessional - Lets post our cheats/confessions/etc so others can see that we are all human

So glad this is here! I need to confess!!!! Lol I didn’t have a two week liquid diet pre surgery but I had to fast 24 hours before and nothing after 10 am that morning but liquids and nothing at all including water after midnight. I can say I had a lot of food funerals the weeks before and I actually gained 4 lbs the day of weigh in for surgery :(. So the first week about day five or six when I could do clear liquids I consumed 2 32oz bluebell vanilla ice cream cups....& I got soooooooo sick! I did not and currently do not want ice cream anymore blah! You think I learned my lesson then, right? NOPE. So second week into full liquids...I found I could suck and chew down Doritos chips and spit it out...I just needed to chew something!! Then I ventured to find Cheetos white cheddar puffs and did the same thing except I learned I could swallow a little bit with no sickness. So glad to could get that off my chest. Now I’m on soft foods and I honestly have found three recipes on the Baritastic app that has helped me so far. I am using a kids spoon and measuring out two tablespoons of food at a time. TBH I am scared that I will fail at this keeping up with protein and eating enough. Thanks for forum post :). -
