That's awesome!!! Congrats! Which doc are you going with??

I attended a seminar with my hubby because he decided to do the lap band first. I saw everything he went through and was with him 110%. When he went in he only did a consult and they called him within 2 weeks for blood work and a meeting with the doctor. PLUS they gave him a date for surgery 3 days after that. I was like in shock at how fast they put him through. I know for sure mine isn't going to be like that but here's hoping! Its just that once you start this process you can't wait to get on with it. Its not only going to be the best thing that has happened for me, but for my family. Everything is going to change. I took all the "junk" food out of my pantry, and my fridge today. It was hard because its so yummy. But if I want my kids to eat right I have to eat right.

ok so i did my first consult today, and they said that I would be a good candidate for the Lap band. Just gotta get an EKG, blood work, and then wait for the insurance results. i had been so nervous about my first visit that i was actually loosing sleep. I have no idea why! It was awesome. love the place, great people. I can't wait to get this show on the road!!

That's kinda what I'm afraid of....waiting for insurance and then hear something like having to do another horrible diet...blah..we all know those only work for sometime and then its out the pooper.

This is your life! If he isn't supportive of you bettering yourself he doesn't love you as much as you thought he did. If you think that he might feel insecure later -- that's his deal. Let him deal with his insecurities on his own, but you need to take care of your life right now. I'm sorry but diet and excersise might be the best for some people, but I tried and failed at just about every diet out there. Some of us just aren't cut out to eat a carrot and be happy. Not everyone is made out of the same mold. Personally I don't have time to be in the gym 2 hours a day 7 days a week. I want a life outside a gym... where I could walk 30 minutes a day, eat well, and be able to control myself better. So, what if we need a little help. Right now you have made the realization that you can't do it on your own. That's already hard enough of a conclusion to come to. "YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!"--waterboy -
Well, I'm kinda new at this whole banding thing, but when i was working out a lot back in the day I followed this book called BODY FOR LIFE. You'd eat all these small healthy meals throughout the week and once a week you had this one day where you could eat whatever you wanted. It was pretty insane, and my friend he would do that and on that day he would eat crazy stuff like one time he ate a dozen Krispy kreme donuts and he dropped weight on that day!!!!! He said it was awesome to be able to trick his body, but i don't remember the specifics of why your body would do that. I'm gonna have to find my book, and get back to you, but i totally believe you on that. But i think you are doing a good job, keep watching your intake, and slowly but surely you'll get to where you want to be. Good luck, and I'm going to see if i can find that book and post it up for you. J

Stress, stress, and more stress has not let me sleep. This first consult is just freaking me out. What should I expect? Do I have to take my clothes off so they can pinch my fat or poke me with a stick like a zoo animal? Will I have to endure long and endless crazy talk with a shrink? Will she/he make me talk about my feelings and sit me on a comfy couch and try and braid my hair? Seriously. I'm so nervous. The consult is not until Monday, May 5th or as I like to call it...Stinko de mayo ..lol (light chuckle). Here its about 2:52am.....and I should be asleep. Age: 25 BMI: 38. something ( dont' remember ) crazy: I could be getting there...LOL nah its just the lack of sleep talking.

That's awesome!! CONGRATULATIONS!! Keep us posted. I'm going May 5th for my first consult, and I'm really nervous. We'll see what happens. I really need my insurance to cover me because there is no way that I can pay for this surgery on my own or else I'd probably have to go to Mexico.....arrrrribbbaa!!! lol

Well, we decided to go with a different doctor because after my husband had his surgery, he was spitting up blood for over 4 days!! It was so horrible seeing him like that. and his Doc just didn't take the precautions that we were expecting him too. His bedside manner was horrible. He just saw my husband in pain, and it was just so impersonal. We really didn't have a good experience with him. I found a different doctor and hopefully he'll decide to do my husband's first fill as well as my lap band.:wink2:

I'm going May 5th, and I just would like to know what to expect but there are so many doctors that start out differently. My husband wasn't tested at all. he just went in for a consult...they didn't even take blood, and they decided to take him straight to the operating table. But he had high blood pressure, asthma, high cholestrol.... and he was 27 at the time. But I'm going with a different doctor. let's hope that I can get it covered by the insurance. *fingers crossed* I'm only 25, but i need to loose 100 pounds. There's no way that I'll be able to loose the weight and keep it off. I've tried...I'll loose it gain it back loose it gain it back. Its one horrible cycle. And I'm tired of it. Lap band HERE I COME!!!! lol...

hey, Have you ever tried a Dr. supervised diet plan before? I have my first consult, and I'm just a little nervous because they said I have to do a physical, and some other tests. Just curious.. how many tests did they run? or did they even run any? cardio? Diabetes? Joy
