That's just a few days away! I'm so happy for you. I still haven't had much success with my dieting, but keep hoping my mindset will improve. It will be good to have someone so close by to talk to. Hope we can become friends. There is not a support group here in Houston County. I keep searching for people to go to the meetings with, but have had no luck. I don't mind driving, but don't want to be on the roads alone so late in the evenings. If you are interested let me know. Hope to hear from you again.

You didn't say when you actually got your band, so I don't know how long you've been struggling. I've had mine for almost 1 year and have been struggling since Christmas, losing and gaining the same 10 pounds. Discovered I have Atrial Fibrulation and now can't have any leafy green vegetables because of the medications that I must take. Did you know that everything is a leafy green vegetable? Alright, maybe not, but it sure has put a kink in the foods I was relying on to lose weight. I feel like my band is just right, but my mind needs some adjusting. Anybody out there have any answers??? At least I'm haven't gained 50 lbs..... As for the Support Group, I've been twice and did enjoy it, but it takes me more than an hour to get there, then there's also the return trip home. I didn't find it that helpful. I wish I could find a blog that addresses the Lap Band issues that we face. One written by a trusted professional.

Wondered the same thing this afternoon. Checked to see if the group was still 'in business'.
  6. Does anyone know of a flavorless protein powder or liquid that I can add to food or hot tea? I met someone at a support group meeting and didn't get her name. She uses it everyday in her breakfast oatmeal and swears she can't taste the difference. Thanks
  7. Does anyone know of a tasteless (maybe I mean unflavored) protein powder that I could use in a cup of hot tea? I use Super Advanced Whey Protein Powder, vanilla and strawberry in skim milk, but I could sure use a change and I love hot tea. I remember someone at one of the support meetings talking about a protein powder she used in her morning oatmeal that had no flavor. Thanks for any advice. Jo

I want to know about the receipts for tax purposes, too. I asked for receipts and was told they would mail me one, but I never got it and did not follow-up. I do have my canceled checks. I should have done about this before now.

I'm definitely gonna be there, too. I'm so excited that it will be in the morning as I'm not comfortable traveling from I75 to Albany after dark. I always sit up front since I'm so easily distracted. Jo

Good to hear from you. I hope you survived the holidays. I had my surgery 12/11/08 and have lost 12 lbs. I go for my first fill 1/22. I'm glad the holidays are behind us. I sampled some of my family's traditional foods during the holidays, but I made sure I chewed,chewed,chewed.etc. I've made my first 2 mile walk yesterday. I really have to talk to myself when it comes to exercise. I can always find an excuse. I am really going to need pep talks in this area. my email address is lojuannao51@hotmail.com. I would luv to stay in contact too. It's great to have support as we continue our weight loss journey.

  11. Congratulations! What a great way to start the New Year!! I could eat bread after the first few fills, but once I got to the "Sweet Spot" (7.5cc) I found out that bread just won't go thru my stoma. I can eat croutons on a salad, but not many. Any hot, fluffy bread just isn't worth my time anymore, it just sits there til it 'comes back up' (very uncomfortable). The only time that's a problem is in restaurants when they bring that great, hot, fresh, wonderful smelling bread to the table and I loose my ability to reason.
  12. Lojo, How are you? When is your surgery date? I did not realize you had replied to my message. Would love to contact yu now.

Thanks for your encouraging words. I received my denial letter from my insurance (UHC) Friday. I faxed a copy to Terri. She faxed it to my secondary insurance BCBS this am. BCBS told me that just needed a denial letter from my insurance to pick up the cost and that there was no criteria I had to meet to be approved. I hope it will not take long for them to send the approval letter so the surgery can be scheduled and I can begin the pre-op diet. I guess that's wishful thinking. This group is so supportive of each other and I'm so thankful I joined. How long did you live in Dublin? I teach incarcerated juveniles in Eastman, Ga..This is my second career. I retired after 30 years in education, but couldn't handle staying at home.I went back to work fulltime after 6 months. Good thing for me because I ate every time a food commerical came on TV. I have 6 grandchildren ages 8 and under...3girls and 3 boys.

  15. I live in Perry and would love to have a support group close to home. Just let me know the time and place. Blessings RosieJo
