When I had my first meeting with Dr. Patel, he was on his cell phone texting someone and reading emails while half answering my questions. I canceled my follow-up, emailed my Primary Care Physician and went with another surgeon. My surgeon was $3000 more but my mind was at ease. Read the reviews about Dr Patel/Dr Reddy online and go with your gut feeling. I live in Buda so having the surgery in Austin was more appealing to me as well. Best of luck!

My doc/nutritionist said all veggies should be steamed for the first 4 months. I roasted sweet potatoes and carrots for 40 minutes on 425 with olive oil.

Being home. Not dealing with an hour commute each way. Not going to work or cooking huge meals. Resting. It’s all made me so patient and calm. My husband told me he thinks I’m easier to talk to. I hope this continues even after I have to go back to work.

Yep. Diarrhea yesterday. I think bestest guess is muscles saying WTF while building scar tissue.

@deltadentist last night was rough for me too. Up from 12-2am. My pain is around my belly button. Nothing is helping. I don’t know what it is. I know my doctor said I did not have a hernia prior to surgery.

@Yvonne47 I've made scrambled eggs twice (not even one week out) just because I craved it so badly. I kind of let it sit in my mouth, chewed 30 times like instructed, and swallowed maybe 1/4 of one egg. It hit the bottom of my stomach like a lead balloon and my dogs loved getting the rest of what I cooked.

A friend recommended a local chiropractor several years ago and today I went to see him. Aside from constant pain from surgery, I was in a car accident 7 years ago and have never been the same since. This chiropractor may have just changed my life for the better. He used laser therapy and explained how my nervous system is out of whack from surgery and any other major medical issues I've had during my lifetime. I had gastric sleeve on 10/30 so tomorrow is my 1 week anniversary. I have been feeling so dizzy, tired, no energy (even though I'm drinking plenty of water and getting in protein). I haven't been sleeping well, even with sleep-aids. After this appointment, I feel at least 50% better and have energy that I didn't have this morning. If you have an opportunity to see a doctor who uses laser therapy, I highly recommend it. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27841968 - I just found this study online as well.

Yes. Same. I was so excited to know they would mail to my house every month with no copay!

Same. Laying on my side makes everything feel so much worse. I had 5 incisions and they all feel like they’re gonna burst open. I had a couple sips of a protein shake and felt full. I’m not sure I’m drinking enough but as long as I pee twice a day Imma call it a win.

First Bariatric surgery, yes. They pushed me to walk as much as possible. It did help to get some of the air out. I’m down 13 lbs since 10/10. 103 to go. :) Where do you live? You are a badass for continuing to work in doing what’s best for your health!

Everything went smoothly. Mine was outpatient. Wish I had stronger drugs for pain. Took a walk around the block with my husband earlier. So weird to not feel hungry because the night before surgery I could’ve eaten a whole pizza.

My doctor said as long as your are peeing at least twice a day you aren’t dehydrated. My surgery was yesterday and drinking isn’t the problem. It’s pain. Just a constant feeling of being punched in the stomach. Really wish I had narcotics instead of the other cocktail or Rx they gave me.
