don't sweat it bro. you're just excited about the inevitable. enjoy it, as you drop you'll stop doing it so much. my advice: take the scale and put it up in the closet after every time you hop on it. point is, you won't do any of those impulse weighs. ie. after using the restroom then hoping on 'just because it's there'. you won't want to go to the other end of the house to go in the closet to get it. i hop on once in the AM (after my morning routine  ). then that's about it. good luck - keep it going.

had my first fill today. doc found my port in 2 seconds.. a small prick from the needle to numb the area. after that i didn't even feel him go in with the needle to fill me. he put 1.5cc's in and i'm good to go. total time: 15 mins. NO PROBLEM.

feel a little freaked out all of a sudden? my banding procedure is scheduled for Monday (5th). i'm totally ready and 110% willing....but all of a sudden, tonight, started getting major butterflies. for those of you who have had it - did you feel the same in the "11th hour"? help a brotha out here. ok, so 5/5/8 @ 7am i got my band. spent the entire day in the hospital. i was planning on doing it outpatient but as the day went on, and due to the gas pains, i stayed the night. they told me i wouldn't be able to eat until the next morning b/c of my upper GI that they had to do. after a little kicking and asking i got a bowl of chicken broth, Jello and h20 right around 9pm (Monday).. and i'll tell you that was the best freaking meal i can remember having in a long time. weird thing was that i put on 5 lbs in the hospital. i guess all the IV fluids and whatnot. did my upper GI today and left the hospital at 10:15am feeling pretty good. got some gas pains, but that is to be expected. i went on a little walk to p/u my daughter from her school. the walk was about 6blocks...and man, did it feel like someone kicked me right in the chest. or better yet, it felt like i was in a car accident and hit the steering wheel with my chest. but as soon as i sit down, i start to feel a little be better. had some broth today (twice) and had my first vanilla Protein smoothie (about 8oz). ...on the path. more updates to come.

just started back at the guy. nothing insane, just treadmil. after about 30 mins of walking at 3.7mph i felt like taking it to a job. so i bumped up the speed and started a jog. after a couple of minutes i felt some pain in the port area. not a huge pain, but def a weird feeling. i dropped back down to a walk and was cool. anyone have reasons as to why i felt this? has anyone felt the same thing?

doc told me no bread or rice. now i'm past the point of not being able to eat bread or rice. the question is: has anyone had a problem with eating a hamburger? i know i couldn't eat the whole thing, but would the bun be a problem??
-
yeah...i agree with the fries comment. i ate 1/4 of one last night and got owned by it. i ate 3 small bites of my black bean burger before i realized that the fry blocked me....i had to burp it up. i'm only 3 weeks out and sometimes it takes a while to learn what will work and what won't. i'm getting better at it.

walk around in chap shorts and wear heavy red lipstick. just kidding... men are like parking spaces....all the good ones are taken and the rest are handicapped. don't beat yourself up. all good things in time.

congrats bro. day 3 was the worst for me. my suggestion GAS X STRIPS and milk of magnesia. you're allowed 8 gas x strips in a 24hr period. i ate like 3 in the first 5 minutes. i farted and burped like a mad man for a day, but man did it feel good after. it gets better everyday. i'm 3 weeks post opp, feels like yesterday when i had it done. playing golf on sunday - Niiiiiice.

aetna sucks. i HAD them and in the 11th hour the dq'd me based on the LB being 'cosmetic'. bs! i then switched to blue shield ppo. and it was all good.

training should be fine, just don't push it. as far as rolling on the mats (jits), i say hold off for a few more weeks. you use a lot of abs down there. i'd say 'training' is ok for now, but no sparing. give that a few more weeks. i plan to get back to some jits and stand up in a few weeks myself. love that siht.

so i dropped 26+ within the first 8 days or so. and since then (about another 8 days) i've stayed at the same place - roughly... any thoughts on why? i'm eating anywhere between 600-900 cals/day. my base caloric burn is 3200. i should be burning 2400 cals/day. i should be down (just on math alone) 5 additional pounds.

I was told to take B1 every day, B12 once/week, Iron once/day, Calcium 2x's/day and a multi 3x's/day. i'm not that good about it. the ole' freddy flintstones aren't going to cut it. hope that helps.

turkey chili (STAGG) 20g of Protein. all the Beans, turkey etc give lots of protein. plus it's thick and fills me up forever. cold cuts, cottage cheese. i was told to have 3 meals a day and Protein shakes in between to get up to 60 grams. when i'm working out, 80 grams. based on that protein calculator a few posts ago, i should be at 100grams a day....YEAH RIGHT.

OK. one day 9 i went out for sushi. 3 pieces of shashimi (sp?) and teriyaki chicken. i over did it on the chicken - but it was all so good. then a few days later i went out with the Ms. and had some more. 3 pieces of shashimi (tuna works well, red snapper didn't (too chewy)), miso Soup and some scallops dynamite. the scallops were a little to stringing once i chewed them, so i didn't eat much. i love that i'm learning what works, what doesn't.

*where is my soapbox... i don't think that anyone, including myself was "attacking" willismommy. this is a public forum where people are allowed to respond to posts written. when you post in here you are willing to take the reply - for better or for worse. if someone has thin skin, don't post something that 'may' get a negative response. most everyone on this forum (maybe not you, but most.) are told to stay on a liquid diet for several days to 1 1/2 weeks - sometimes longer. this is due to swelling. "potato soup is differnet from potatos and gravy. the fact of the matter is that the error is not willismommies...it's her doctors mistake. the question i have is this: if she would have been instructed to stay on liquids for 2 weeks - would this have happened?. answer: no. If a doctor gave someone the green light to eat popcorn 24 hours after opp - they'd have problems. my original response regarding how funny it was to hear about pots and gravy 3 days post opp still stands. TO ME, it was funny. to all the people that this wasn't funny to - that's ok. to the people who felt like she was under ATTACK - give me a freaking break. that is how forums work. give and take. if this forum is a "lie to me and tell me everything is ok" kinda forum, let me know - cause i'll leave it and go somewhere else. no one is trying to offend anyone, or attack them, or belittle them or or or... willismommy - i'm sorry if my inital post was offensive. i meant nothing personal for what i wrote. if it was misunderstood - i'm sorry. ok. off my soapbox. -
haha. yeah no doubt. "i ate some popcorn 8 hrs post opp and it hurt, can someone help me?"

wow cind didn't mean to get you all sad. you must have mis inter'd my post. didn't mean to be mean. i just thought it was funny that someone is eating potatoes and gravy 3 days post opp. if you don't think it's funny, that's cool - i'm not mad at cha. i think we've all been taught what to eat, and what not to eat and when to eat it. so - potatoes and gravy that early on OF COURSE you're gonna have discomfort. i do admire the bravery of trying such a meal. i hope that clears it up. thanks for checking in cindi. bye. -

is that normal? i went into the hospital at 348lbs. after surgery, and the IV's, i was up to 353. this morning i weighed in at 328. I know that at least 5lbs of that is Water weight from the IV's...but is that normal? i don't feel run down. i've been pretty good with my Protein drinks (at least 1 a day - i hate the things). other than that - days 2-5 were broth, water, Jello and protein. days 6 and 7 i introduced cottage cheese and yogurt and iced tea. i have my post opp meeting in two days, i'll ask them then. just kinda concerned that my body is eating muscle as well as fat. any thoughts?

4 days post opp. My incision points are itchy. mainly the port incision. is that normal? when does the tape fall off? when is too soon to pull them off? i get hiccups every now and then - about once every hour or two. is that bad for my pouch? doctor ok'd me to eat cottage cheese today (4 days sooner than he orig said) - would egg whites be ok to eat too? -
day two post opp the nurse kept asking me to try and pee. i'd go to the bathroom and stand there for 10 minutes with that plastic thing ready to pee in it.. but no go. although the weird thing was it felt like i was peeing. lol. the nurse was a little concerned and brought out some kinds of machine and turned it on and took another piece and kept moving it around my bladder. she was calling out numbers that were a reference to how much liquid was in my bladder. i'd look in the plastic thing and there would be a couple of drops in it. then night of of day 1 post opp, i got up and went in there and was able to get out about 400cc of pee. felt like a million bucks. then morning of day 2 i got up and dropped 700cc's, then a few hours later 800cc's. man. i didn't notice the bloating feeling i had. but after a while the flow was on. thank god. night 5 post opp - i had a feeling that i hadn't pee'd all day. then, i got up and stood above the toilet and finally went. now, i'd say, i'm back to normal. what have your experiences been?
