Eating and drinking
RoRoKitty replied to lorraine#11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would suggest to try soft and puréed food... introduce fish, seafood, chicken, cottage cheese, yogurts etc slowly into your daily life... as soon as you see you can tolerate these, you can add one new thing every once in a while in minimum quantities. Every body is unique and there is no 100% right diet and wrong diet. Just focus on your proteins first and then you can worry about your greens, carbs are coming last. -
Eating and drinking
RoRoKitty replied to lorraine#11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How far out your surgery are you? I am three months out from and I’m still have hard time eating legumes... you can always try a small spoon and see if it hurts you or not... everybody is different on food tolerance -
Need breakfast ideas - what are you eating for bf?
RoRoKitty replied to indacrucible's topic in Food and Nutrition
I like having cottage cheese with blueberries or 2 boiled eggs, or one egg and a couple of turkey ham slices I think that’s it more or less :p -
My fridge, quite messy, you know it’s European fridge when there is lots of wine inside lol. I never drunk though, it my parents aunties etc etc. We are 5 people home. First days update: walking much more, enrolled myself to gym, trying to not weight myself every day, lost two pounds. Fitness plan : will try to swim at least three times per week, walk 10k every day.

I am in too! I wanted to post yesterday, but I had to translate kilos to lbs and I wrote it down on a paper but then I left home and forgot the paper so I am a bit late but I will post all my details from the second of January! My photo is from the 2nd of January . HW : 205 kilos/ 452 lbs SW : 185 kilos/ 408 lbs CW: 161,9 kilos/ 356,9 lbs Goal weight for end of January 150 kilos (I wish :p) /331 lbs Happiest moment in 2018 well it was on the 31st of December when I reached the lightest weight I was for the past at least 5 years... maybe even 10 years ! I am fitting to all my clothes in my wardrobe (including these that were not fitting me for many years) and I have to start making some of them smaller because they look so big on me. I will go to enroll myself to the swimming pool today, would love to start swimming again, and I also started some small weight training at home. I love seeing the weight go down almost effortlessly... last time I was around this weight was because I was going to the gym every day and I started piling them back the day I stopped it (from depression).

I googled that and it looks a lot like what I am getting... I asked my alergiologist if that could be my case he said it could but he is still running all food and blood tests to be on the safe side... Lets see what happens next ! :)

I Was Amazed When I Heard This
RoRoKitty replied to Danny Paul's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I never had a liquid phase in my diet, only preop for 10 days. Post op after the three days I was at the hospital I started with soft food directly as these was my instructions. When I joined this page I though something was wrong with me but a couple of people replied that they too did not have a liquid phase post op. On my first day back home I had boiled chicken and potato something that I guess some people don’t eat until good 3-4 week after or maybe even later but there I was on day four eating normal soft food as per the program and the diet I was given! Long story short happy new year guys ! (It is 02:53 here local time !) -
I am on a stall too... so I know it’s annoying to go on to scale everyday and not see movement down, but in total I lost 97lbs preop included and I am very proud for me... I don’t think I ever lost so much so fast or kept them off so easily... so think of the positive and the rest will come

Yeah my doctor said he never had any patient left unoperated, he is always fighting for everyone, in my case he said he had to add one more robot thus one of my incisions is much larger than the normal but my friends doctor said she was lucky (not) number 3! I know in worst cases doctors are operating with open surgery instead of just laparoscopic.
-
To give him credit, my surgery was quite difficult as my liver was very enlarged and instead of 1,5 hours it took him about 3 hours, so I love him for not giving up on me and doing it despite the time it took him! My best friend was about 70lbs less than me and her surgeon just opened her and closed her immediately, he didn’t even try to do the surgery!
-
When I finish the surgery I asked for meds and they gave me a strong shot. I was in a lot of pain, (my mother told me that the surgeon said I shouldn’t be in pain, and I yelled to her HE LIEEEED! Lol) but by the end of day two I was telling the nurses I don’t need any more painkiller and day three I didn’t take any. After getting back home there was some discomfort finding a nice position to sleep, I made a pillow fort to get along but I cannot say there was any major pain than just stitches pulling. So basically I only took painkillers for two days after surgery then nothing more :) wishing you for the best !

I confess I made a red velvet cake for my friends fiancé and had some left over dough because I used a smaller baking pan... so I made a mini velvet cake for home too... (for my parents etc) but I had a small piece yesterday and a small piece today 😱😱😱 I think caloriewise I didn’t go too much up because I ate too little all day but still... I can make much better choices! Tomorrow will be gym day 🏃♀️ -
I fear it's wasted on me
RoRoKitty replied to GayGirlLivingForHer's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I too started the weight loss journey 400+ lbs. there are times that I think that if I won’t get pizza or whatever else junk food I will get crazy, but I know that is only in my head and I need to change my mindset. I am not hungry, I just think same as before surgery and that was what made me so fat! I don’t need pizza, I need some nice lean proteins. Try to avoid fried food and sugar as much as possible and everything else will get in place slowly but steady. And we are all here for you to support in any way possible ! You can do it! First for you and then for your mother 💜 -
Doctors who can't see beyond a patient's weight could miss other conditions
RoRoKitty replied to Born in Missouri's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had many doctors discretely mentioning weight loss... but I was most disturbed by two doctors. One was at work, they give us check ups every year... so when I went to see him he pointed his finger to me and said how did this happened? I think I went red with rage... I mean there are so many ways to mention that issue... he chose the worst. Also when I was searching for a bariatric surgeon the first one I visited when saw my helmet he commented you ride a moto? And when I said yes he said poor moto... wtf he is bariatric surgeon and says such things! Of course I left running (as much as I could by that time lol). Hopefully never had anything that was misdiagnosed due to my weight! -
I Was Amazed When I Heard This
RoRoKitty replied to Danny Paul's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I eat all kind of meats and I didn’t have any issues with any kind of meat. I am having beef jerkies for snacks and I tried steak once. On the other hand I cannot eat legumes they give me almost instant pain, I cannot eat pasta and eggs although I eat them from time to time I feel so full even after 4-5 hours of having them (1or 2 maximum) So everyone is completely different ! -
Sooo... I think I am allergic to cold if this can even be a thing! End of November I returned walking from my endocrinologist appointment back home. In the middle of the walking I sat on a cold bench. When I returned back home I was itching in my outer part of thighs and ass... basically where you sit. It was like big mosquito bites. I saw them to my mother as I thought they were indeed some kind of bug bite. She told me it’s allergy and I was like nah... can’t be. Then after that every day after walking out in the cold I would be getting all red and itchy. I made an appointment with an allergiologist, I was taking antihistamines and cortisone for 10days then went back to him said yay no allergy and then he started food tests. While in his office all the spots he checked were negative. I went home and by the time I reached home I had all the spots swollen and red like giant bug bites and also my legs were red and itchy too. After that day I again have allergy every day I am out and on the spots of my body they are cold the most. I started to wear two jackets, sweater and my blouse with gloves every time I go out yet my thighs are the most exposed parts of my body and they are red by the time I get home. A friend of mine send me an article about a girl in Canada that she is allergic to cold and my friend told me that this could be my allergy too... I think this is so surreal but so annoying and omg the itchiness is so much... I won’t stand to take more cortisones I already freaked out once that I had to take them while supposed to lose weight I don’t want to get anything back. Snap on my body, get real and fix this mess you made 😂😂 Sorry for the long post... but this is a new lvl of “feeling the cold” I had to share my rant with you 💜 Is there anyone else that experienced something similar or knows someone similar ?

GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+<br /> +
RoRoKitty replied to Frustr8's topic in The Gals' Room
Hello everyone! I just saw this threat and I really liked it because I was seeing people starting in such low numbers it was a bit disheartening for me... I started very high (205kg) 452lbs. I am (1,7m) 5’7”. My surgery weight was (185kg) 408lbs. I had my surgery on 9th of October so I am now 2 months and 1 week after it. My current weight is (166kg) 366lbs and I am on a one week stall almost. Although I lost 86lbs already, I don’t think it’s having so much wow factor, people that had not seen me for a while notice there is something different but maybe they cannot quite tell what is it. I was size 30/32 (6 on Torrid) Now all my T-shirt’s are on the loose side and I can fit to everything I was not fitting anymore, but I don’t want to spend money and checking one by one the smaller sizes, I want to spend my next months with looser clothes until I can throw everything in summer... I am ready for some adjusting and cutting to help me with that goal and maybe also pillage my mother’s closet too lol Up until recently I had no desire for dating, I wanted to focus more on myself... now that I think I have things in a small order I met a nice guy (so far :p) who had two friends that did wls and he is supporting and super nice (fingers crossed) No complications so far, other than not getting all my water every day... no real hunger just head hunger and I really miss some sinful savory tastes (pizzaaaa 🍕) but so far my only sins where five chocolate bonbons (not all together) and three Christmas cookies, which I don’t even know why I ate, as it’s not as enjoyable as it was before neither in taste nor in the toilet after 😂😂 (no pain just diarrhea that I guess was caused by them) Will try to avoid them next time. ☺️ Some non scale victories : I can fit in restaurant/cafeteria chairs easier without getting stuck on the handles, I could fit with my aunt in the bus seat together, I can finally zip an anorak I bought last year but it was too small and this I never wore, same with a dress I bought two years ago and never wore. I can walk 10K steps per day easily though before starting the whole progress I could barely walk to the next block without needing to sit immediately after getting there. I had stopped doing the groceries myself and I was relying on deliveries only even for the smallest things, as walking and standing in the supermarket aisles was a big issue for me. Some days ago I even run a bit to catch up with a bus that was waiting in the bus stop. That’s all folks for now ^^ -
Last week I had my Christmas dinner at work too, we went in an Indian restaurant. First plate had some fried things, so I only tried one bite from something that looked not fried and then on the second dish I only had some pieces of chicken. When on the first plate the waiter looked at me really sad and asked me if I didn’t liked the food, explained to him I cannot eat anything fried and he asked me if I wanted to order something else. Too cute! I let him know I am fine will just wait for the second part :) I sat next to Colleagues I trust and they knew about the operation so they were very supportive :) only once a girl told me she feels bad I cannot eat more and I told her I am the only one who has a completely filled up stomach at that point. That made her laugh :)

Anyone NOT taking their vitamins?
RoRoKitty replied to sleeveme7781's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had problem taking my effervescent multivitamins so my endocrinologist prescribed me some liquid one that I will take 20 drops daily. Will go pick them up today. I also have b12, calcium and iron supplements and vitamin D that were all on the low side in my last blood test. If you don’t like what you have try something else, you will find what you will like the best and stick to that. -
I used to sweat just from standing, yesterday I walked almost 17000 steps and I barely shed a sweat. I am layering up always especially in the mornings that I walk the dog out it’s soooo chilly. Also if I just sit at home even with heat on Have to wear slippers on (that I never ever had to before!) and maybe even a blanket or an extra sweater on top. I would have never thought that possible, as I am not yet thin, not even reached yet the thinnest I was on the past 10years!

If she had no surgery I guess she lives on salads every day and lean meat. I count my calories with MyFitnessPal and I am about 750-900 calories per day too. But I eat small amounts 5-6 times per day I don’t need big salads to fill me up.

Sooo, I decided to join you guys here :) I had my surgery 9th of October. I am down 85pounds since preop and 41 of them where postop. At the beginning I had no issue with water, I feel a bit weird now after even some sips and have to wait some time extra before drinking again. I barely make it for the 60oz per day. From foods I am mostly ok, been trying out a bit of everything, having issues only with legumes and spaghetti all others I can eat without issues so far (well from what I tried :p) I think I am a bit slow in comparison to what I see from others when it comes to losing weight but I am happy for losing anyway :p. Just a bit more (less than 6lbs) and I will be less than the lighter I ever was the past 10 years ! Yay I don’t miss sugar that much, as I was avoiding preop too... for savory snacks I found something like beef jerky here, it is dried chicken chips let’s say, super low calories, it’s chicken, proteins and no carbs. The perfect snack :p I fit in everything I ever owned and was too cute to throw away although it was not fitting anymore and I hope that I will manage to reach summer without having to buy many new clothes(I will pillage on my mothers closet most likely lol) Sometimes I think my blood pressure is quite low after surgery (was about 12-14max. before surgery now it can be as low as 10) Also there is no more sweating... last year I was sweating after five steps maximum, even at midwinter, now I am feeling mostly chilly and have to wear layers to fix that. Also I had a bad allergic reaction every day for a week most likely from the cold, I am on antihistamines and cortisone therapy now (I was so scared to take the cortisones I didn’t want to get back the precious kilos I just lost but oh well I am on day 9 of my treatment, it may slowed me down a bit but there was no regain) That’s all that comes to my mind at the moment, will update if something else comes up :) Be safe everyone and love yourselves!

I have the oposite, when I weight at my doctors with clothes it always show me less than when I do at home without (much) clothes on! I am happy with both numbers :)
