  1. I have sleep apnea too and also love my CPAP. I can’t imagine not using it. I plan on continuing to use it unless it causes me problems!
  2. At day 3 I was definitely still nauseous and having dry heaves. By the end of the first week I was feeling better, but I remember the first few days really regretting what I had done to myself! It will get better, I promise! Do you have any sugar free popsicles? That was how I survived week #1. Good luck!!

    I'm so COLD!

Yes! I was always hot before and now I’m freezing - and I still weigh 300lbs!! My highest was 365 so I’m down 65 lbs. I can’t even IMAGINE how cold I’ll be when I lose more weight!! I think I’m going to buy a heating blanket because I’m having trouble falling asleep because I’m so cold!!

    October 2018 Sleevers

That really makes me angry! Instead of celebrating your weight loss - he made you feel bad about yourself! BTW - 80+ before surgery plus 16 since means your are closing in on 100lbs which is FANTASTIC!!! Please don’t let one jerk bring you down!! ((HUGS))

    fears

I’m not sure. I saw my nutritionist 2 weeks after surgery and that’s what she told me to eat. And now I don’t see her again until December 13th. Do you know how many calories I should be eating (7 weeks post sleeve)?! I know everyone’s surgical team gives different advice - I’m just wondering what others are doing. Thanks!!

  7. I absolutely agree! I go to my favorite bar all the time and drink water. I always tip what I would for a drink! It’s definitely the right thing to do!!

I’m also in the slow losers club and knowing I’m not the only one is making me feel a bit better. My surgery weight was 327. Being so big I thought I would lose pretty quickly and it first I did. I lost 26 lbs in 4 weeks - but I’ll be 7 weeks tomorrow and still at only 26 lbs down. I was thinking there was something wrong with me!! I’m eating approx 500 calories a day and going to the gym (treadmill only for now) 3 or 4 days a week. How is it possible I’m not losing weight?!?!

    5 weeks post op today!

Hello neighbor!! I live in Coventry RI so I’m maybe 10 minutes from CT! Yes - Califlour is a brand. I buy it online. They have several different flavors and they are all good! And if you check out the nutritional information, they are really good for you too!!

How/when did you find your groove?

This is a great question and I’m having the same trouble. I’m 6 1/2 weeks out and sometimes I need 2 protein shakes a day to meet my goal. My problem is I just can’t eat very much meat. I try small bites - chewing really well - and eating slowly but I after only a bite or two I feel bloated! I tried eggs and sometimes it’s ok but other times eggs make me feel crappy. I just want to be able to eat a couple of ounces of meat and still feel good!!

    So cross at myself

I get it with the Doritos. That’s the one food that I can NOT resist. I have decided - for me - I can NEVER eat Doritos again. Not ever. Not even one! I am thinking of Doritos like my “drug”. For the first month or two (after swearing off them forever) I thought of them every day. If that’s not addiction, I don’t know what is!! Now I’m down to thinking about them on occasion - like maybe once a week. It might be something for you to consider if you can’t control yourself around them. Now other chips? I haven’t had them yet but I know I could have a few. I’m only “addicted “ to the damn Doritos!!
  12. I absolutely understand. I had the same thing for the first few days. The only thing I could (barely) tolerate was the broth from wanton soup from my favorite Chinese restaurant - so that’s what I had. My nutritionist said that in the first week or so, getting fluids is the most important thing and to worry about the protein when I was feeling better - about day 5 for me. As for regret, I was SO mad at myself for doing this to myself. But now - 6 weeks later - it’s the best thing I ever did. I feel great and I’m sure you will too!! Good luck!!

    Sleeve Recovery Time

I came home 2 days after my sleeve surgery (I was supposed to go home the day after surgery but I was really nauseous so they kept me an extra night). I never took anything for pain once I got home and really didn’t need it. I definitely could have done something like going to a party if I only had to sit there. Everyone is different so hopefully you will feel good too!!
  14. You look amazing!! Thanks for posting your story - it’s inspiring!!

    Sweets

I find sweets are addictive. I used to love them and crave them. Once I stopped eating them (while I was dieting before surgery) I stopped craving them. That made it much easier to avoid them. I’m only 6 weeks post surgery but so far no desire for sweets!! Good luck to you!!

    Caffeine (coffee/preworkouts

I had my first coffee today (mixed with Premier Protein chocolate). Tomorrow will be 6 weeks since surgery - but I had quit on July 1st of this year so it’s been 4 1/2 months with no caffeine!! I just had a rough night and needed the caffeine to be able to get through the day at work. It didn’t bother me at all! But it DID perk me up!!

    5 weeks post op today!

That’s awesome! I’ll be 5 weeks tomorrow! I feel great except I am having a tough time with meat (and I LOVE meat!). I’m in a stall right now - I have a digital scare and I’ve been at 300.8 for a week!! Why couldn’t the stall have been at 299.8?? At least I’d be under 300 - lol! I’m hoping mine ends soon! I loved cauliflower pizza with grilled chicken and red peppers prior to surgery. I was thinking of trying again but I wasn’t sure how I would tolerate it. Your post has given me hope that I might be able to (well, probably not with chicken!). Have you tried the Califlour crusts? They are amazing!! Good luck with your follow up appointment and Happy Thanksgiving!!

    I'm whining about large pouch

Have you had meat yet? The first couple of weeks after surgery I thought I had no restriction. I could eat yogurt, cottage cheese, etc with no problem. But once I tried chicken (small bite - with fat free gravy - chewed well) I realized I DO have restriction - and quite a bit to be honest! It may not be the same for you - but just a thought! Good luck!!
  19. I go to my favorite bar all the time. I used to drink dirty martinis - now I just get water with a lime! I still tip the same as I would for a martini. Happy bartenders and happy me!!
  20. The first 2 days were definitely the worst for me! Since those are done for you, you should be sailing smoothly into surgery! Good luck!!

    Doomed

So happy you did great today!! See - you can do it!! YAY!!

    Doomed

I had a 14 day liver shrinking diet so you definitely still have time!! Mine was protein shakes for breakfast and lunch (and I could have a small apple or orange for a snack). Then 4 oz lean protein and 1 cup non-starchy veggies for dinner. (Sounds similar to yours). And the great news is your “cheating” wasn’t with really bad stuff - or even worse - alcohol! It was a little extra of the food you were supposed to be eating!! :) I was/am a BIG girl (highest weight 365 - surgery weight 327) and this diet shrunk my liver just fine! I do agree with what others have said about alarms. I’m so busy at work I set them to remind me to drink water!! Don’t stress - you can totally do this!!!! We are here to support you!!!

    Protein shakes??

I like Premier Protein Chocolate the best and I have tried MANY different ones. My only problem has been they are sometimes hard to find in the stores, so now I order them from Amazon.

    People like me

I guess I was just scared. I felt like the sleeve only affected my stomach and not my intestines which seemed safer to me. Also my surgeon said if I didn’t get to where I wanted to be, she could always do the bypass later. I’m only 4 1/2 weeks post surgery so right now things are good (fortunately no GERD)!
  25. Health - longevity - mobility - family - looks. Romance? What’s that?!? Lol Also high on my list - being able to fit in seats - like on an airplane, at a restaurant and at the movies!
