To tell or not to tell?
CyndieRI replied to Reducingraven's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m an open person so I have told everyone. Plus I don’t have a good enough memory to remember who I’ve told and who I haven’t! Lol! Sometimes I even tell the servers at restaurants when I’m only ordering a soup - or sharing a meal with my husband. I’ve had nothing but positive feedback. But definitely it’s a personal choice who you want to tell and when you want to tell them. -
Seems I always push the envelope, but......
CyndieRI replied to Myhorseisfattoo's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I don’t think you will DIE - but I could not have eaten that at 6 weeks. I’m 3 1/2 months out and I still wouldn’t eat that because I can barely get all my protein in! -
An honest update. Weight Gain
CyndieRI replied to BajanSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for your post. I’m only 3 months out but I’m already feeling similar. I know I should have lost more weight than I have - but as you know “knowing what to do” and “doing it” are very different. I did join a gym right after surgery and I was going 3 days a week (up from NEVER exercising). Then my NUT told me I should be going more often. So what did I do? Start going more often? No - I stopped going! I don’t even know why. Part of me was like - I’m not doing good enough? Well screw it - I’m just not going to do it anymore. So I too am disappointed in myself. 😰 -
It’s crazy the vast differences in plans.

I’m almost 3 months post surgery and my NUT also said to weigh and track everything. I track protein, calories (and of course water)! -
It’s crazy the vast differences in plans.
CyndieRI replied to Chuck Clasik's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This was my plan exactly! And absolutely at the beginning it was nearly impossible to get enough protein and water in. Just do your best and make sure you don’t get dehydrated! -
I found the same when I tried to enter my starting weight. I don’t even remember what I put in but I DO remember thinking it was weird! Anyway - your weight loss is an inspiration to me and I’m sure many others! Don’t let that sour your from this site. It’s a great resource!!

Tips and things you wish you would've known
CyndieRI replied to Olive22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don’t bring an underwire bra to wear home! I wish someone had told me that - lol! Pain killers can make you constipated so don’t use them unless you REALLY need them. A friend told me that one because she took them and got impacted. Let’s just say that was something I did NOT want to experience! And walk ASAP after surgery. It is the best thing for the gas pain!! Good luck!!! -
Hope you feel better soon!

No pizza for 4-5 months???
CyndieRI replied to pdamoci's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I think it depends on the person. I - for one - know that I can NEVER have Doritos again! I have zero control over myself around Doritos. I CAN have a piece of pizza eventually (though I love the Cali’flour crusts so I’ll stick with those). I’m not addicted to pizza. Every person is different. And having something occasionally is probably ok as part of a healthy diet. It depends whether you can keep it “occasional” - which I would not be able to to with Doritos! -
That made me LOL!! 😂

Pantry/Fridge/Freezer Purge - Does everyone do it?
CyndieRI replied to SimoneMonet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 2 teenage boys and I only WISH I could have purged all the bad stuff!! I will say though - at 11 weeks post op the only “cheat” I had was 6 Scoops. Any they were worth it - lol! -
I never took any pain meds after leaving the hospital. I wasn’t in much pain and I had heard they can cause constipation - and I certainly didn’t need THAT!!!
-
Just diet and exercise. WOW! Never considered that.
CyndieRI replied to mousecat88's topic in Rants & Raves
I have been wanting WLS for years but my husband always would say “just stop eating so much and you’ll lose weight!” DUH!! And like a fool, I put it off for years. This time I had all my pre-op testing and had a surgery date before I told him! He again tried to persuade me to NOT have the surgery - but I did it on 10/10/18 and I feel great! He eventually got on board (he didn’t have a choice) and he has been supportive now! -
Stigma may keep people from getting weight loss surgery
CyndieRI replied to Born in Missouri's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Shockingly neither my regular doctor nor my cardiologist ever suggested WLS. I’m 5’7” and have been over 300lbs for over 10 years. (Highest weight was 365). When I mentioned it to both of them (needed clearance from both for the surgery) they were both onboard right away. I wonder why they never mentioned it to me themselves. Maybe male doctors feel weird bringing WLS up to their female patients?!?? -
From about 3 1/2 to 7 weeks I was in a very frustrating stall. Then in 1 week I lost 10 lbs and I continue to lost (but not at 10lbs a week - unfortunately!!). Just keep doing what you are doing and know that this is 100% normal!!
-
WOW! What a difference! Congratulations on your amazing loss!! 👍

I Was Amazed When I Heard This
CyndieRI replied to Danny Paul's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’m 10 weeks out and had a few bites of sirloin this week and it was very tender and went down fine. Most times I have trouble with chicken. Every one is different! (Unfortunately I don’t like seafood since that seems to be the one thing almost everyone can eat!) -
My husband’s newest comment now as I’m trying to turn the heat up while he’s driving is “OMG! Eat a cheeseburger!” Hmmmm - let me think.... no thanks!! Lol!
-
I understand. But I’ll just say this - I had surgery 10/10/18 and my ONLY regret is I didn’t do it years ago. And I think you will find that most people feel the same way. Good luck!!
-
That’s a great idea though I’m not sure I could do it. I weigh myself every day (I know I’m crazy and obsessed - no need to tell me - LOL!) I’m only 10 weeks post-sleeve but I’m so nervous about gaining back any of the weight I’ve lost. I don’t freak if I stay the same (I had a 3 week stall) but I do NOT want to gain!! Maybe I could start slow and do every other day?!!! :)

Follow up to: I know this is long, but please read it. I got some big news about my situation
CyndieRI replied to I AM NOT MY SIZE's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree with LadySin! I would contact a lawyer. Because of your first surgeon’s error, you now have to go through another surgery - more time out of work (if you work) - and another while healing process. And while it’s great that you will be getting the revision surgery, I don’t think that makes up for all you have and will go through. Good luck!!! -
Three week stall! :(
CyndieRI replied to fmellnick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had a 3 week stall also - so frustrating!! Then the next week I dropped 10lbs. Just keep doing what you are doing and it will work out!! -
Had my Hernia repair & Panni Dec 5th
CyndieRI replied to ssflbelle's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Wow! 270lbs! You are an inspiration! Congratulations on your amazing weight loss and good luck healing from this new surgery!! -
I’m asking for prayers for my dog - Bernie the Bernese Mountain Dog. We know he has cancer in his knee but today we will find out if it has spread. If it hasn’t, he will have his leg amputated (he’s not using it at all anyway) and chemotherapy. If it HAS spread, we will have to make a decision that I REALLY don’t want to have to make. He’s my best friend and I’m heartbroken!

This is absolutely normal. I thought for sure they didn’t do anything to my stomach because liquids and even yogurt went down with no problem. Once I started on soft foods I was like “WOW” - major restriction. Good luck!!
