Post Surgical Binders
Lynnlovesthebeach replied to 2ndTimeFreedom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The nurse gave me one the first time I got up to walk. It made a world of difference when moving around. You don't have to support your abdomen at all while moving or coughing. Those incisions may be small but they still hurt and the swelling from all the gas they put in your abd hurts too. I wore mine for about a week until the muscle soreness went away. -
9 months after RNY-Things I have had to say goodbye to
Lynnlovesthebeach replied to icebarbie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am 9 months post RNY. Except for peanut butter and beef, which I eat occasionally, I'm not sure how I would tolerate eating all the other stuff on your list because that is what I chose to give up based on the advise of my bariatric team. That stuff is what got me to where I was pre-op! I don't miss any of it. I have no problem going to restaurants and Texas Road House is one of my favorites. There is always something I can eat and then I always have leftovers for lunch the next day and probably the day after. I can honestly say nothing makes me sick now but I choose to eat lean healthy nutritious food in very small portions. I don't have to cook for anyone so that definitely helps. For me, it's all my choice and I choose to go shopping for size 4 jeans instead of eating a Krispy Kreme donut. I'm old enough to know I've eaten enough of them in my lifetime and I don't ever want to go back to my old habits. I'm thankful that I was adequately prepared by my team to know that this process took major changes in eating habits for life and some things just aren't worth eating. -

On a scale of sloths, how do you feel today?
Lynnlovesthebeach replied to Orchids&Dragons's topic in The Lounge
Definitely number 8! I'm currently 3 1/2 weeks post-op total hip replacement. After I take my morning walk, or go to physical therapy this is the position I assume on the couch or recliner with my leg elevated and iced! By the way, this hip surgery was way more painful than my gastric bypass. I had no pain with the bypass. -

❤20 Months Post Op❤
Lynnlovesthebeach replied to GreenTealael's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So sorry you have to have another surgery but glad they will fix whatever you need fixed! GERD is a b***h. That, among others, is why I chose to have bypass. I love reading your posts and seeing your pictures. You just seem to have all the right answers! Good luck with your pre-op diet and surgery. I know you will do well! -
Pre op weight loss effect
Lynnlovesthebeach replied to ConnCT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost about 30 lbs pre-op and now 105 from my highest wt of 235. My WLS starting wt was 229 and my day of surgery wt was 203. I thought I'd be able to get to goal in 6 months but it took me 8 1/2. I never stressed out at how fast I lost. My philosophy is time is going to pass anyway and I'll get there eventually. It's not a race and the wt doesn't fall off overnight as so many people think. Try to take your time and develop good eating habits and don't stress out about it. If your are following the guidelines you were given and doing your best you can't ask for more than that! Good luck! -
Almost there!!!: Gastric bypass roux en y
Lynnlovesthebeach replied to Justbypass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck with your surgery. The first few weeks are tough but so worth it! Just follow your doctors plan for you and you will be successful! -
@Ren951 Also remember, just because the calendar says it's time to move on to the next phase doesn't mean your stomach is ready. You may have to stay in a phase longer than planned because your stomach is ultimately the boss!

I had 3 days of clear liquids, 2 weeks of full liquids then 4 weeks of soft foods.

Cravings from Hell
Lynnlovesthebeach replied to CashmereAndBones's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have received excellent advice already so I'll just add...I don't really crave anything anymore. But, when people say, "can't you just have a little taste?" I just say, "I already know what that tastes like and I know what it does to me. I'd rather be able to wear my size 4 jeans than eat that!" Eventually they get the message! -
Hormones??? What is going on with me?
Lynnlovesthebeach replied to BecomingMeMissy's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I think it's a pretty normal reaction after any surgery. I am currently recovering from a hip replacement done 2 weeks ago. Initially, I was asking myself, "Why am I so grouchy?" That is so not me! On Monday, I chose to be alone because I was having one of those "hormonal" days where everything made me cry! Also, not my norm! I think it's just the bodies reaction to major "trauma." Yes, surgery is traumatic to the body. Also, result of anesthesia, medications, pain, change in lifestyle...Hang in there...it's gonna get better! You will feel normal again soon. -
I usually update my weight on Sunday morning...today it is 130.4! Only 0.4 until I'll be at the weight my doctor suggested. I think my personal goal will be a little lower.
-
Today's weight...129.9! Met my doctor's goal! Not quite sure what my personal goal is yet though.
-
@toodlerueand @elcee I'm 4'11 and this gives me a BMI 26. My "Ideal" wt (according to my doctor's charts) is 117. My doctor and I both agree that is probably too low considering my age. I think I need to be around 123 for a "normal BMI so that may be what I strive for. If I don't lose anymore, I'd be okay with it because I now wear a size 4 and I'm ok with that!

You may be dehydrated.

5 days post op!
Lynnlovesthebeach replied to fulfillingfavor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 9 lbs on my pre op diet and gained 9 lbs while in the hospital. It took me about 5 days to lose that and by the end of week one I lost 3 more. -
Bowel Prep - Gastric Bypass tomorrow!
Lynnlovesthebeach replied to amaynard's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I didn’t have to do a bowel prep for my gastric bypass surgery because I think the 2 week pre op diet probably took care of everything but I have done a few before colonoscopies... not fun. Good luck with your surgery. -
I started taking the Hair, Skin and Nails gummies after I attended the seminar (5 mon before surgery). I switched to Biotin when I had the surgery and I don't think either made a difference. My hair started falling out at about 5 mon and now at almost 9 mon seems to be slowing down. I had a lot to start with so I'm ok with the loss. It just means I don't have to sweep the bathroom tile everyday and pick hair off my clothing! I've gotten my protein in most days.

Vision Changes?
Lynnlovesthebeach replied to CashmereAndBones's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes people have that issue after general anesthesia. Doesn’t hurt to check with your doc though. -
I guess I got the wrong person for my above post... @Frustr8I mean't that for you!

Oh So Close!
Lynnlovesthebeach replied to Lynnlovesthebeach's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
@GreenTealaelI usually do ignore the decimal but today since it is an "early in the morning , after going to the bathroom, nekkid wt" I figure I'd give it one more day to make sure it's correct! Delayed gratification I guess! -
@frust8Nice to see you updated your stats! I love following your progress! But, wasn't your surgery Sept 5? It says the 4th. I only remember your date because it's my birthday! I started reading posts a couple of months before my surgery but don't think I actually joined until after surgery. I don't post much but do find much support from others. I'm almost at my doctor's goal, but think my personal goal will be a little lower.
