*Joke*...Why do all of womens problems start with men????

Q: How many sensitive, intelligent men does it take to screw in a light bulb? A: Both of them.

    Heartbroken

Dear Eeyore, BOYS ARE MADE OF POOP! - especially that fart head scum breath who isn't equipped (in so many ways) to handle a self-actualized, strong woman. Screw him. Love, Chaucer's Wench

    Quick Question...

My doctor said no swimming/bathing for four weeks.
  4. Hi, I'm only newly banded so I can't give you a real clear picture - but I thought you should know there's a thread in "Food and Nutrition" called "What did you eat today" that would be helpful to you.

    Ethiopian Food

It's my all time fave! Has anyone tried it post band? I think it might be difficult because of the injera. I'm thinking about breaking my pre-op to say goodbye. I know, I know, I have "last supper syndrome" but I feel like if I knew I'd be able to have it later - no big deal, but never again? What do you all thnk?

    Ethiopian Food

I'm in Chicago. We have good Ethiopian here but the best in the US is probably in Washington DC - they have tons of restaraunts
  7. Hi guys! I've gotten such great support from this site! I thought I'd try asking a question that I'm not sure anyone will be able to answer - who know's?- maybe my situation isn't as unusual as I think. My husband uses wheelchair because of chronic progressive MS. He needs help transfering to and from the bed and toilet. He can't dress or bath himself. I' having my surgery on May 7 and the doctor said I can't bend over or transfer him for two weeks. He only weighs 140lbs (Yeah, we're the Sprats). We're going to increase the personal care assistants hours for 2 weeks but that seems like a really long time. Does anyone else have expieience with care-giving after banding?

Unusual question - not sure where it goes

unfortunatly all family is far away

Unusual question - not sure where it goes

Thanks everyone. Thank goodness we'll have our PCA here. I told her about the surgery and my limitations. We can't have someone 24/7 though and I'm worried about something happening when she's not here. I want this so badly - one of the many reasons is so I can take better care of my husband - but I'm nervous about the healing process.

Favorite music to help with this journey

Oh! I love this topic! And that Aimee Man song is great, too. I think Bishop Allen's "Things Are What You Make Of Them" sums up my approach and is a kick-ass song to boot.

Unusual question - not sure where it goes

Crap. Do you think I would slip my band? How long before I can bend at the waist?

    Ethiopian Food

Okay, that makes me feel better. "Never" is a hard concept to swallow. I was just reading up on injera and it appears to be actually pretty good for you. Since it's made with teff it's gluten free and high in protien, fiber and all sorts of minerals. I will wait. It's nice to have something to look forward to.

    So Mad!

Hi, everyone. I'm new to this site - getting banded on May 7 (yay!). I'm sorry for my intro post to be a rant, but I'm so pissed right now. I asked my husband not to tell Anyone about my band, specifically his mother. I wanted to avoid negative comments (like the ones I've read about on this board), judgements, and expectations from Anyone - particullarly my MIL as she is hyper-negative. I just really think this is a personal and private matter and I should decide when, how and if people are told. This morning I overheard my husband on the phone to MIL say "...when Nya get's back on solid food..." :wink2: GRR. I asked him about it and he said he forgot. Now, this is entirely possible so I can't get too mad at him - my husband has MS and it can cause cognitive issues, but I really emphasized how important this was to me when I first asked him not to disclose my surgery to others. I feel really betrayed and alone right now. Sorry about the ironically negative rant about trying to avoid negativity:unsure:

    So Mad!

Thank you all for your encouragement and advice! My husband feels really bad about this situation. He just said he was so sorry and that when he was diagnosed with MS he felt the only thing he could control was who he told so he understands why I'm so upset. Ah, well. I guess you can't unring a bell and I'll just have to deal differently than i had planned. Who knows, maybe she'll surprize me and be positive and supportive and maybe monkeys will fly out of my soon to be smaller butt.
