  1. Hi everyone, I have had it up to my neck by my Weight Loss Doctor... I have lost 61lbs since I had my surgery in July of 08..It seems like every time I go to my doctor, he tells me that I should have lost more and that I am not trying hard enough. Well, I just went back to him after the holidays, and I have gained 5lbs back. (granted I did slip with the eggnog). He told me that I am not dedicated and that I would probably wind up being one of his failures. I am sick and tired of his condescending attitude and ridicule. I have had to deal with ridicule and insults most of my adult life. I have made an appointment with another weight loss doctor, but they require a $250 patient transfer fee. Has anyone else had any trouble out of their weight loss surgeon? BTW: I had the gastric banding in July 08, went in weighing 236lbs, and just weighed in today at 175. Thanks, Lynn

    Still Not Losing

Hi Y'all, I was banded on July 1st, 08. I have had 2 fills and still have no restriction. My weight is constant with little or no movement on the scale:frown:. My last fill was 2 weeks ago, Sept 29th. My next appt is not until Nov 10th. Should I call my doctor and request another fill or wait it out and see if things change. Thanks in advance.

  6. Hi Yall!!, I was wondering if there are any monthly support group meetings in North Mississippi. I live in Como, Ms (Panola County) and was banded by Dr. George Woodman in Memphis. His monthly support group meeting is usually held the 4th Monday of the Month at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. This is a good hour and half drive from my home. With work and home duties, plus the price of gas this is getting harder for me to make the trek. So, if anyone out there knows of any support group meetings in North Mississippi, I would be extremely grateful.
  7. I went and had my first fill yesterday from Dr. Woodman in Memphis. When I asked him how much he put in, he just smiled and said that he put in enough. I asked his nurse and she told me that he does not tell any of this patients how much fill he puts in. Has anyone else had this experience?
  8. I had surgery on 7/1/08 and am due for my follow-up appointment on August 14 with Dr. Woodman in Memphis. I had a friend who had Lap Band performed by Dr. Woodman about a year ago, and she stated that she had a hard time getting a fill from him. I feel no restriction at all and am nervous about going back to him. Has anyone else had this experience with him?

  10. I was banded on July 1st and had lost a total of 16lbs since surgery. However, this morning I weighed and had gained 2lbs back. I am still in the mushie stage and are following the Drs guidelines to the letter. I have been doing about 30 mins of exercise 3 days a week. My first followup appt is August 14th where I will hopfully get my first fill. I am really getting depressed because I thought that I would have lost more by this time. Has anyone else experience this sort of thing?

    Getting Depressed

I want to thank you all for your encouraging replies. I am over an hour away from where they hold the support group meetings. With my work and the gas situation, it is not really feasible right now to attend the meetings. You guys are my support group. Many Thanks,
  12. Maryland Mommy, I was banded on July 1st and have lost 9lbs. It seems to be slowing down now because I have been at the same weight on the scales for the past couple of days. However, your stomach is still probably swollen from the surgery. Don't get discouraged.

    Surgery July 2

My surgery date is July 1st and I am having the same feelings of anxiety. Everytime I think about it, I get a few butterflies in my stomach, however, I then look in a mirror:rolleyes2:
  14. I have been sampling different protein supplements for about the past week. That is the ones I can get sample packets of. None of them taste good. In fact I start to gag before I finish them. Has anyone tried to chewable protein tablets? I have found several online sites that sell the chewable protein tablets. Any input would be appreciated.

    Looking for Memphis,Tn LapBand talk

Samantha, Thanks for the information. I go see Dr. Woodman at 7am on Monday, June 2nd (this coming monday) to schedule my surgery. I am hoping to have surgery scheduled in the next couple of weeks. I have been planning to have this done for the past couple of years and I am so ready. Luckily I have not had a monthly cycle for the past couple of years. Good luck on your journey.

browneyedgoddes, Just curious, when you had your second visit with Dr. Woodman, how long did it take from his office visit to the actual surgery. Also, did you need to lose weight before the surgery? Terry

    Looking for Memphis,Tn LapBand talk

Hey, Just wanted to let you know that my labs are complete. I had to go to a clinic near Methodist G-town and get blood drawn. Then I had to go over to the hospital where I had an ultrasound done, an x-ray of my abdomen & chest (had to swallow a cup of strawberry berium, yum yum ). Then I had an ekg done. The nurse told me that the results are faxed to Dr. Woodman's office. I am hoping that Dr. Woodman's office will call this week and set an appointment for a face to face. I heard that at this time they will schedule the surgery. I am really getting excited. Terry

    Looking for Memphis,Tn LapBand talk

hey, Imaducky, Dr. Woodman's office submitted my paperwork for insurance approval on Mar 25, 2008. I was also told it would take 2 to 12 weeks. 4 weeks later, low & behold I received an approval letter at my home from the insurance company with a cc to Dr. Woodman . I called their office and was told that they have not received it yet. I offered to fax them a copy of mine. I now a date for my lab work on May 7th. After my lab results are sent to Dr. Woodman's office they will set the appointment for a face to face. I have not had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Woodman yet, but have heard that he has the personality of a granite statue. By the way, I live in Mississippi, but work in Memphis. Terry
  25. Greetings, I attended the seminar with Dr. Woodman on 3/4/2008: I completed my consultation with the Nutritionist, had the Psych evaluation, copies of my past 5 year medical history, and a support letter from my primary care physician completed prior to my 1st visit in Dr. Woodman's office on 3/25/2008. The nurse told me that they would schedule my 2nd visit once they received a letter from my insurance approving the surgery. I received a letter from my insurance company last week advising that they have approved the surgery with a cc to Dr. Woodman. I assume that Dr. Woodman's office received the letter about the same time I received mine, and was wondering approximately how long I should wait before I call their office to see if they received the letter? Thanks, Terry
