June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

It was easy peasy the first couple days but now on day 5 it's much harder. I only eat between the hours of 10pm and about 8am which is mostly my work hours...which is fine as long as I can control things...BUT on the nights that i'm working short staffed and crazy busy, I don't get to eat like I should which means I don't eat much at all. One night this week I only got in 545 calories and I paid dearly the next night feeling so weak. Plus i'm working 6 and 7 days a week due to short staffing and i'm pretty drained. I have lost about 11 lbs though lol. -
Pre Op Liquid Diet
ARMoma45 replied to mandalynn0633's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The low fat cream of chicken soup has the same amt of carbs as a serving of V8...I believe it was 3% daily allowance or 9 grams. I'm more concerned about the sodium content so I limit them both. -

Congrats -
Was that the only liver enzyme that was elevated? Fatty liver disease can cause all of them to be elevated but I've never seen just the one be elevated... I'm a lab technician.

Pre Op Liquid Diet

Oatmeal, grits, cream of chicken soup, yogurt -
I'm on day 2 of the liquid diet and so far it's not bad. I really don't have to be around people eating since I work nights and sleep during the day...and I actually lost about 3.5 lbs of fluid after day 1.

July 2019 - Surgery Schedule

Don't let the setbacks cause you to give up on surgery. I've had numerous setbacks myself and it's been about 15 months since I started this journey...and finally i'm scheduled for July 22nd. I was starting to give up after insurance denied me but somehow I kept going and barring anything happening, i'll be post wls in less than 3 weeks. My surgeon's office required that I call my insurance company and ask a series of questions regarding my coverage and any requirements before I even met with the surgeon the first time...and we still messed up lol. Everything happens for a reason and I truly believe that my setbacks were allowing me more time to prepare myself for surgery. -
Good luck...i'm sending lots of good vibes and prayers

Diet Cokes typically don't cause kidney damage. There had to be something else that had your kidneys already compromised and maybe the caffeine triggered a response. I am a lab technician so I check my blood work often and my kidneys are fabulous. Lots of medicines especially NSAIDS are broken down in the kidneys and will cause damage. I watch mine closely because I take Meloxicam. -

That sucks. I understand the necessity to be smoke free but it seems that they would have verified that before scheduling surgery. Mine got pushed back because I hadn't been compliant on my CPAP lol. How long have you been smoke free? -

June 2019 Surgery Siblings!
ARMoma45 replied to BulletWithButterflyWings's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welp, I decided to bite the bullet and go ahead and start my liquid diet about 6 days early so that I can work everything out before it "really counts". So far so good...I have to do things backwards of most of y'all because I work nights so my eating generally occurs between 10 pm and about 8 am. Thank goodness i'm still allowed my Diet Cokes...I know that I should go on ahead and quit them now but I'm hanging on to them as long as I can lol. Please pray for my kids and coworkers -

Finally got my surgery date... when did you cut things out?
ARMoma45 replied to MeowAMR's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The 6 months of dr supervised diet is usually an insurance requirement and not all insurances require that. I personally am thankful that I had a longer process because i'm so much better prepared than I would have been just after making the decision to pursue this surgery.
