  1. I'd just tell her that I have put a lot of thought and research into this decision and that I would love to have her support but if she simply can't support me then to please keep her opinions to herself because I don't need that stress on top of having surgery. And of course you always have support here

    Disappointing outcome

That must have been devastating. Many prayers that this time around everything goes smoothly

    Surgeon resigned

Since I decided to stay with the same office and use a different surgeon, I didn't have to redo anything. My seminar had been with the hospital, not the surgeon, so that even carried over. I did however have a serious delay in getting my info sent to insurance because the original surgeon left suddenly and all his patients had to be worked into an already full schedule for the new Dr. All that was at the end of the year and on top of that delay, my company changed insurances...same company but different division so my insurance co back in Dec denied my claim knowing that i'd be changing divisions after the first of the year...they said it was because I lost too much weight on my 6 mo diet. So my poor overworked nurse had to resubmit to the new insurance and finally a year later I was accepted.

    Cirrhosis

That is so scary. I did some research on fatty liver a while back when my average size 21 year old was diagnosed with it. She had been sick and I was running some blood work on her(i'm a lab tech) and found her liver enzymes through the roof. We've found that limiting red meat helps her a lot.

Anyone else playing the waiting game?!?

I got denied the first time because I lost too much weight on the 6 month diet...but I continued with my monthly Dr visits which showed the plateau and regain and they approved mine after it being resubmitted. It's definitely been an ordeal but i'm sure it'll be well worth the wait. Patience grasshopper lol.
  6. Also, good luck with surgery 😊😊😊
  7. If the cut off was 10pm then i'm sure it's fine.
  8. I lost 105 with my sleeve and I’ll say my joints started to feel much better. I wasn’t huge but I was obese. Guess I am again since I gained 40 on steroids and BMI is 31/32. The humira reduces a lot of my inflammation but I’m going 4 weeks without it and without mobic. Funny when I lost weight I ended up with injuries from my heavy workouts. Facing my second shoulder repair in 8 weeks or so once I heal from today’s sleeve. EEEP!! It’s in 7 hours!! Good luck with your surgery today 😊😊😊
  9. I'm the opposite, I can deal with the ulcer as i've had those most of my life but the arthritis pain is unbearable to me. Before I started using Meloxicam I couldn't even get out of my car when I got home from work from aching so bad...and I have a really high pain tolerance. I just hope that losing weight will relieve enough of the pain from my joints to make it bearable.

Just look at it as just another step in getting healthy. Forget about the teeth and get excited about your upcoming surgery and new life 😊

    I finally got approved!!!

Thank y'all so much...i'm very excited!!!
  12. After a year of Drs appts and tests and after one denial...I got approved. Now for the money part...yikes lol. I know that my surgeon is requiring $1502(my insurance deductible is $1500 and i've met a good deal of that already)...now i'm waiting to hear from the hospital about what they will need up front. The surgeons part has to be paid before the surgery is scheduled and the hospital's part has to be paid 10 days before surgery. How much did y'all have to pay to the hospital up front? I'm having RNY by the way.
  13. If the swelling doesn't go down, be sure to talk to your Dr. You should probably be urinating like crazy though and that means it's going away.

Good luck to you...keep us posted on your recovery.
  15. I also take Meloxicam/Mobic for arthritis and I can't see myself giving it up lol. I've missed a couple doses here and there and the pain is immediately back. I'm praying that I can still take it after my surgery.

    Surgeon resigned

I can somewhat sympathize. About 7 months into my process, my surgeon abruptly left his practice leaving all his patients with either having to switch to another surgeon within the practice or follow the original surgeon to a different hospital. My pre authorization was through the original hospital so I decided to stay there and use a different surgeon. Apparently the original surgeon left so abruptly that his staff was left trying to work his patients and all the paperwork that go with us in an already full schedule. Long story short, I should have had my surgery before Christmas but here I am in April and just now getting everything ready to set the date. I was at the point of giving up hope when just a couple of weeks ago I got the email that I was approved through insurance and just need to talk with the financial people about paying my upfront cost and then we can schedule surgery. So don't give up hope just yet. It's a long, tedious process but isn't your health and well being worth it? I say yes 😊

    I finally got approved!!!

Thanks for the info. I put a call in to the hospital today so i'm just waiting to hear back from them so I know how much to expect to pay them...a little moving money around and i'll be on the books...YAY!!!

    Insurance approval

I was denied the first time by BCBS because I lost too much weight. They apparently wanted me to FAIL to lose 10% of my body weight in 6 months. I continued my monthly visits which proved that the weight comes right back and insurance approved me the second time.

    Yup. I regret this.

I agree about seeing your GP. If you still take BP meds, they may need to be decreased or stopped and increasing your water would be a good idea.
  20. My Dr wrote about what my goal was for that month and how I did at meeting that goal and also what my goal was for the coming month. She documented activity and diet as well as current weight.

    H Pylorie test

My results came back in a couple days but i'd have to say that if you didn't feel like you were dying after the test it's probably negative lol.

    H Pylorie test

How did you feel after drinking the sweet drink? I could tell that my breath test was going to be positive because I felt like I was going to die. The pain was all the way up into my shoulders.

    H Pylorie test

Yes, H Pylori can cause the same symptoms as GERD and in fact, the way she describes feeling after eating is exactly how I felt when I tested positive for H. Pylori. I had to find a balance between a completely empty stomach which also causes the H. Pylori to flare and a full stomach that caused a flare. It's a very miserable bacteria and takes a long time to get rid of it.

    Pre surgery monitored diet

I had 6 months of Dr monitored diet with a necessary loss of 10% body weight, visit with nutritionist, psych eval, endoscopy and sleep study.
  25. Many prayers for answers and feeling better
