I’m almost two weeks post op and I just cannot tolerate the protein shakes. The past few days my stomach has not been happy. This morning I tried a clear protein drink from Premier Protein. It has whey protein in it but no other dairy. I drank it no problem and had no gas and was not running to the bathroom. Then in the afternoon I tried a plant based protein powder with milk and within a few minutes of starting it my stomach was gurgling! Any suggestions on what I can add to a powdered protein shake that’s not milk?

Thanks. I do have some plant based protein powder. I’m going to try that with almond milk.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Thanks! I’m gong to try that today.

Will you try tofu? It takes on whatever flavor you put in it.

My doctor said no gum. Puts to much air in your gi tract but she said I could do sugar free mints as long as I could tolerate the sweetness.

I’ve never tried macadamia nut milk. I’ll put it in my list!

I have almond milk at home. I’ll have to give that a try.

In a world full of so much negativity and hatred, I have to say thank you to everyone on here for being so kind and encouraging! It amazes me everyday to see such wonderful and encouraging messages from complete strangers! If the world could just figure out it doesn’t take that much to just be nice to each other, things would be so much better! So, thank you to everyone who takes the time to respond to post! This is such a wonderful forum to be a part of! It shows there is good in this crazy and often mean world!

Thanks for the tip! I was actually thinking that I would try that this morning but wasn’t sure if it changes the composition of it. I was going to add a few pumps of sugar free pumpkin syrup, my dr said it was fine, and make it like a latte! We can dream right? Lol I’m 9 days post op and can’t wait to eat soft food next week!!!!!

Wohoo!!! Good luck!

Thank you for your insight! -
I hear ya. It’s about being prepared I think. When you go to a party, bring something you know you can eat. Plus, you’ll feel so good about yourself, you won’t want to eat badly!

Hi ZekeMan. I had surgery last Tuesday. Everyone’s pain tolerance is different but I had very little pain. Just a little sore! I’ve been on the full liquid diet since and I’m not hungry just miss chewing! Lol The way I look at it is that two weeks are nothing in the grand scheme of things! Best of luck to you on your journey!
