I’m over half way there!!! Yes!!!! Had to take progress pictures because I was getting super frustrated with the scale!
-
That is what I was afraid to hear.. a 14w seems a lot bigger than a 14r.. can’t wait to never step foot in the Nordstrom woman’s department, Lane Bryant, or Torrid!
-
Anyone out of plus size clothes yet?? I can’t wait for that day!! How far off is 16 w to a 14 regular? Ok wearing an 18 so still a bit to go!
-
I am having the same issue. I normally have dry skin this time of year but it is definitely worse than normal. My scalp too. Maybe due to less oils and fats?

You look great! Wish I had such a good before shot. I knew it at the time, too, but the idea of getting in front of that camera in all my glory held me back, LOL. My bariatric program warns us off all pre-made food, anything you don't prepare yourself. Surprised to see quite a few people on here doing them, but I'm clueless--maybe they're super healthy. Of course, I'm living in boring, repetitive food world. Lots of yogurt and cottage cheese, chicken and reduced fat cheese. They're not even letting me eat beef yet, though I know I'll get cleared for that phase on Monday at my nutrition appointment. And there may have been a cookie incident last night I'm considering posting about, so there's that. Anyway, don't let the stall demotivate you!! It will happen to us all at some point. One of the best things about a group like this. :) Thank you! And thank you for sharing your cookie incident, I do think I need to prepare my own food and keep it simple as your team recommends. The other is what got me overweight and it’s just too easy to slip back. There are healthy premade options but it’s a slippery slope for me because then I want Chipotle and then I want take-out. I’ve also started working back with my personal trainer 3 days a week so that could be part of this stall too. I think that is making me hungrier too.
-
You are doing so amazing by the way! I started at 308 so much more weight to loose.
-
Are you buying pre-made meals? I’m kind of in the same boat bc my fiancé travels a lot. I’ve done some snap kitchen meals. Not sure if you have in your area. I’m starting to want more flavor and need to get more creative. For a while I was just happy to be eating food again and that has worn off.

Hi everyone! I’m 9 weeks out and having what I think is my first stall or my weight-loss is slowing down. I think it’s time for me to start weighing once a week and tighten my food. I have done great with my weightloss but it is STILL scary and hard for the mind to not worry. I’m down 44lbs (including my week preop liquid diet). My bachelorette party was last weekend and I did drink wine, which might be part of the issue right now. I am struggling at nighttime and keep wanting to snack after dinner! I am also struggling with not wanting to cook. It seems like some days the sleeve works better than others. Is anyone experiencing this? Maybe the wine through my ketosis off? I was having a rough day and these progress pictures helped my mood a little! Sorry for the negative post, trying not to talk about this 24/7 with my fiancé or friends/fam. Would love to see others progress pictures!!

Thank you for saying this. I don’t know if anyone follows Dr. V on YouTube... but he has given me a lot of really good information and it’s totally worth checking him out. He has a YouTube video on working out after weight loss surgery and I found it very interesting. He doesn’t recommend going to the gym for most due and it makes total sense.

Wow! That is so great!!! Congrats and keep us posted!

If you are following your Dr’s plan I’m sure you are fine and not overeating. It is very confusing in the beginning transitioning but as long as you aren’t hurting you are probably eating the right amount. I’ve noticed with each new stage of adding more food in the more weight I drop. I think the first few weeks of healing is so different for everyone.
-
Oh wow that is quick! How did that go? I would have been scared to try food at that point due to barely being able to get water/shakes down. I’m pretty sure baraitric pal deleted part of my post bc I recommended a vitamin other than what they sell.. so strange!
-
PSA!! Do yourself a favor and buy the Bariatric Advantage vitamin chews and calcium chews. Life changing vitamin experience. They are almost a starburst. I was struggling with everything about my current vitamins. Make sure you can have them at what stage you are on food wise. You can order through their website. Today I had my 6 week post op appointment and was cleared for all foods except beef and raw veggies!! A good day!

I had pain that felt like a pulling inside. Like a pulled muscle.. apparently scar tissue forming or breaking and normal. Not sure if that’s what you have but could be.

It is strange how it is all so different. Maybe each surgeon makes our pouches a little different and they know what is best for their work. I don’t know but I do know that 1/4 c 3 times a day would be very hard for me. Oh and I also forgot to add I’m eating every 3 hrs or a shake. I will also say that I felt like I was ahead of schedule with progress and everything I was trying was going down ok. This past weekend I had some regression and started to get very nauseous after eating everything with pain and could not eat as much as I had been. I’m not sure if I tried too many new things too fast or if something I ate irritated me but It definitely let me know that I need to be careful. I did a day of liquid and now taking it slow.

I would go by what your surgeon recommends but I will say mine didn’t give exact measurements to eat. I’ve watched a lot of videos as you and have seen very small portion recommendations like 1/4 c and would not feel satisfied at all. When I was on the blended soup I was trying to only have 1/2 a c and it wasn’t enough so my nut said to bump up to 1 cup or 1/2 a can and that made the biggest difference. I would ask your nutritionist. I was sleeved on 10/2 so 5 weeks out today and eating soft food for another week. My requirements are 80-100g of protein, 800-1000 calories, 64+oz of water. I am eating about 4oz at a time or about two sunny side up eggs or about a small can of tuna to give you an idea. Tonight I met a family member at Seasons 52 restaurant and could only do 1 meatball and a bite of a 2nd and was full. So weird! I will also add when I moved from soup to real food and calories closer to 1000/day my lbs seem to drop a little quicker. I’m down 35 lbs total (10 lbs week preop liquid) and 25lbs post op.
-
I felt the same way until I had more solid foods. What stage of food are you on? I’m on mushy food and feel much more satisfied and get full with them. (Beans, can chicken/tuna, sunny side eggs) I didn’t get the full feeling with blended soups and protein shakes.
-
I had my 3 week post op appointment today and get to start my transition from liquids to soft foods! OMG I have never enjoyed canned chicken more :) I felt so full and satisfied for the first time!! I ate about 3/4 the can with a tablespoon of light mayo. It gets better guys!! I’m making trout and squash for dinner. My office has me eating every 3 hrs (two protein shakes included as meals). 800-1000 calories a day. 60-80g protein.

(10/2 sleeved) The small sips and swallows improve really quickly. My first week I had a hard time with water and a drinking most things now I have no problems drinking and almost taking regular sips. So much changes every day! I’m ready for some substance but I have to wait until Tuesday! 😡 I am traveling from Dallas to Chicago this weekend for a wedding so please wish me luck around all of the good food and alcohol!! I really want a glass of wine!

I have answers to questions that I have brought up to the group from my two week post op appointment today and wanted to share. 1) Apparently the pulling of a muscle pain I was experiencing is normal and most likely scar tissue breaking up. The pulling comes from my largest incision above my belly button. They said to keep walking and that will help. 2) Loading up on protein at once is not a good thing. Apparently we can’t absorb more than 30 grams of protein at a time. Also, my weightloss majorly slowed down this past week. I was only down 3 lbs. I was told that it was normal but discouraging after loosing 10 lbs my 1st week post op and also 10 lbs the week before surgery on the liver shrinking diet.
-
That's how I feel! Will be asking on Friday (no pain either). I fear that I have been punked! I still get hungry as well. 2 weeks post op today. I think once we get on real food this will improve. The liquids go right through us and haven’t experienced a “full” pouch of food. Ive had a few blended soups that were thicker and I felt very full after those and was like thank goodness it works. I was worried myself that something wasn’t working.
-
Does anyone know if it makes a difference if you get most of your protein in at once or is it better to spread it out throughout the day? I personally have a hard time with the protein shakes (the taste) and am trying to find ways to get my protein with minimal shakes. I’m on stage 2 of my plan which is full liquids (blended soups and yogurt). I was going to blend a siggis yogurt with 1/2 c fair life milk and adding unjury flavorless protein powder making it 42 g of protein. I would only need about 20 more grams for the remaining of the day which is easy! I would probably only need about 1/2 a shake with the protein from my soups. Any advice on getting most of the protein in early in the day?
-
Maybe not enough protein is the issue. I would follow what your surgeon recommends, they should have given you a very specific plan. Greek yogurt is good and has a lot of protein but the protein drinks are really the best way to get it in right now.
