Surgery tomorrow April 20
Jazzy1125 replied to Aproactiveme's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Good Luck and Welcome to the Losers Bench! -
you can get capsules, but i am taking the chewables because that is what is delivered. I also dont mind them as a chewable, less likely to get nauseous if i remember and it is not meal time. The capsules i was taking from Amazon beforehand if i didnt take with food i got very nauseous every time.

I typically stick to the SF popcicles if i want something sweet. I still do not eat enough to make or try desserts. It would just go to waste.

I am taking the Bariactiv ones that were prescribed by my Dr.

Today.. I decided to try something i probably shouldn't have.. but have been wanting and didnt have time to make my self LOL.. So.. here goes.. Pizza.. It was cheese only and thin crust.. I took about 3 bites.. and i was done. I did not dump, get sick, but felt super full super fast... and to be honest it didnt even taste as good and i remember from before surgery.. So.. I am calling this.. did, done, gone.. no desire to have again LOL

(ms.sss) 6 Month Post-op Update
Jazzy1125 replied to ms.sss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Absolutely Awesome. I am approaching 6 months myself ( May 8th) and am super excited to see where i land. Your update is so inspirational.. I may have to use some of your notes to get enough water, track food. I do keep carbs to a min but tracking is my evil partner LOL.. Great Job on all you have accomplished! -
Already gaining & freaking out!
Jazzy1125 replied to LuvDeeDee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go back to basics! you know what you are doing wrong. That is the first step, the second step is to go back to what works, and the 3rd step is to follow through. You got this! -
Give it time. You most likely gained from surgery and it takes a few weeks for your body to dispose of the gas they bloated you with and the liquids they pumped you with in the hospital. I was the same way and it catches up quick. Just keep sipping, find flavors to add to your water to help you keep drinking liquids. I too dislike water, but you can find a way to drink it.. whether its flavored, protein2o or something.. Good Luck and welcome to the losers bench.

I chose the sleeve, mostly because i was self pay without insurance, however the sleeve does wonders. I liked the idea that the sleeve meant that my body functions would be the least invasive and function normally. There is a lot of restriction with the sleeve. from what i have heard, the bypass should be for those with comorbidities besides the weight loss. I was lucky and didnt have anything but weight loss to deal with. The other thing i heard was some that get the sleeve have to be revised to bypass depending on how much weight you have to lose. You really need to weigh all the options and make the best decision for you. What is right for one, may not be right for another.

Losing inches not weight
Jazzy1125 replied to DelawareWoman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The stalls are normal. Everybody goes through them. Just keep working on what you are doing and your body will catch up! -
My NSV today is not getting on the scale since Sunday LOL I am almost 3 months out and this is the first time i havent weighed myself daily. My next NSV is to not get on the scale between now and Sunday. LOL.. Any other NSV out there anybody want to throw out? Happy Tuesday!

I have two NSV's this week I am super excited about! 1. My boss gave me a few of her pairs of jeans about a month ago.. and they barely hit the sides of my hips. I was able to put them on comfortably on Sunday!!! YAY!! I was so excited. 2. This morning, i went to tie my sneakers and i didn't realize till i was almost done that my leg was not up on the bed sideways so i could tie the shoe but crossed over my leg sitting up!!.. I thought i was dreaming when i realized it. What are your NSV's this week?

60 to 80 g of protein and always liquid first. Especially in the beginning. you cannot run the risk of being dehydrated..
-
you should be fine. I had no issues and had surgery on Thursday and went back to work on Monday.

Thoughts on any of the Inspire products? I know this is Bariatric Pal and they have their own store.. I was just looking for an Eggnog Protein Powder LOL.. but not sure between the two sites. I do not have enough information about either one or the other. I know there are many different brands and i really dont want to go all out buying something i may not like.. If this post isnt allowed please delete.. I am not promoting one brand over the other.. just trying to do a little research LOL THanks

Great Job to you both!

Question? What am I missing? Tonight i went back to dance class (ballroom) for the first time since surgery. I made sure to get all water and protein in.. I even took my dinner with me and ate it at the studio about half hour before class. I had fun, a good time, but i did get tired a bit.. but more importantly while on the way to the car, while talking to another student.. I was starting to feel nauseous. Any ideas suggestions?

What do you all use? I am sure there are threads on here and i have read a lot of them, but i am also sure we have tried many things (as I have) and stuff works for a few days and then doesnt work. I have even followed my surgeons direction. and it stops working after a few days. I can no longer go through this weekly ritual as it is becoming very concerning because even with taking stuff, it is an act of congress to still go. The last two weeks i had to do an enema and.. believe it or not.. today it almost didnt work. I thought i was going to break down in tears and then it worked, but i know there is still some there waiting to be released, hopefully by morning. I took a final dose of Ducolax tonight hoping it will do the trick after i cleaned out some this morning. I did buy Miralax today to try next ( starting tomorrow) I have done Colace, smooth move, suppositories (dont work anyore, or fully) , swift Kriss, ducolax, regular coffee, bananas, I am out of options. If Miralax works for a few days and stops.. my surgeon is going to have to prescribe something because going BM 4x a month is not working!

Let me start by saying, that on Monday I plan on calling my surgeon and getting his approval for my thoughts, but i wanted to know what you all thought as well. I am quite frankly tired of my bathroom usage issues, or lack thereof, even following the surgeons direction. I feel like 90% of my bathroom issues is because i am not eating enough to go to the bathroom, meaning.. I am still at 100% protein outside of the carbs in my Protein shakes... I am not getting any thing else in my stomach other than protein. Whether it be tuna, salmon, eggs, protein waffles (made only with protein powder).. I am too full before i finish the protein i dont have room for anything else. I cannot even finish a 2.6 packet of tuna. As for the bathroom, I have tried everything under then sun.. (Except Miralax- I start trying that tomorrow) But it has gotten so bad, that in order for me to go, I have to take something, and even that something, doesnt work anymore..Enough of that!! My thought is.. Maybe I should go back to DRINKING my protein only.. get all my protein from shakes.. and not drink as much water but still get in my 64 ounces.. and leave my 3 meals a day for some sort of veggies/roughage.. I dont know if it will work, but something has to change.. I am still losing consistently so i know my weight loss is fine, but i need to fix this bathroom issue so my body doesnt become dependent on using something to produce a BM.. Thoughts on liquid protein for a while?

This weekend is 3 months post op. It has been a good journey so far with a few hiccups. Mainly figuring out how to incorporate veggies and use the bathroom more frequently. I am down 69.4 pounds, and my personal goal was to be down 70. It is ok. as of this morning i have less than 100 to lose to hit my ultimate goal. In a few weeks i will have my phone consult with my surgeon and see if he has a goal in mind for me or if mine is OK. I found a really good local support group that meets by stage of surgery and have joined the gym regularly. I am getting better at my ballroom classes and am looking forward to the competition in the fall. My next goal is to be below 200 by the time i go to Missouri at the end of April.. I got this! That is 34 pounds to lose in 2.5 months.. I can do it! I hope LOL.. Or be real close! Heres to many more updates and journeys along the way!
