First Appointment for WLS Wednesday- advice on what to ask and one other question...
Jazzy1125 replied to Beachdaze's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good Luck on your journey, i am not sure of anything else i can add. I also wouldnt postpone the trip, you should be fine. One thing i do know, is you can take your protein shakes on a plane through security as they are considered medically necessary. ( they will make you pop them open so they can vapor test them though) that will help a lot while you are away. -
i am in the last 25 or so.. i plan on sticking on plan and doing what i am doing. i would rather eat how i eat now than force lose it only for it to come back once you revert back to carbs.. slower the more long term.. but that is just my opinion.

Doesnt pay to repeat what others have said. Just be mindful.. mindful being the key word. this new journey is all a mind set and your mind can really be devious at times. my concern at this point would be your mind telling you that you have done it once and it didnt hurt so why not do it again. the problem with that is that is what led us all to having the surgery. i am not going to say i never ate a piece of chocolate or a handful of chex mix, or even a bite or two of bread.. but i keep it controlled and limit myself.. its my mind that knows i could revert at any moment and my mind that will throw the bread away after a bite.. or not have a huge bag of candy in the house or whatnot.. sure there are food police, but that just brings people down and what you need right now is to be lifted up.. not encouraging, but try to focus on why you did the surgery to begin with before you eat the whole next roll or something.

5 days post op hunger pains or what?
Jazzy1125 replied to beautifullysleeved2019's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hunger pains are literally a pit in my stomach.. other than that throughout it could be gas or bloating.. i would always try to drink something and walk a bit to see if these subside. -

Congratulations! -
Good Luck on your journey!

clear broth, protein shakes and SF jello popcicles. my surgeon had me go with protein shakes that were only 15-20g each that way i could have up to 5-6 a day.. he just wanted the protein to be no more than 120g a day.

I am on the fence about which one of these i should do. i hear the tuck is a better solution, but the panni is covered by insurance. I had once consult already about the tuck, and another on mon for the panni.. any experienced post surgery folks out there have any ideas.., maybe had one and wish they had the other?

stay on clear liquids.. and sip do not drink.. take it slow and walk as much as you can even if it is for a few minutes at a time. it will get better.. hang in there and welcome to the losers bench.

Weight loss journey
Jazzy1125 replied to Felicia Leader's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
welcome to the journey. all i can say is read read read.. the boards, research anything and everything. it will help you along the way when something may happen, you will be prepared on how to handle it. -
embrace it while you have it lol.. when it flips the opposite direction its a lot more troublesome. i will say that it has been about 5 months since i have had to take anything other than the occasional fix.. so it seemed to regulate itself, but it can be tough.

Am I still losing at a good/healthy rate?
Jazzy1125 replied to pkron's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you are doing great. just keep in mind that everybody loses differently, so try not to compare along your journey as it could get frustrating... keep up the great work. -
My first post and First appointment with Bariatric Center.
Jazzy1125 replied to PatrickMaloney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
do your research also. it all depends on your willpower and your journey. i started at 303 when i started this journey, my highest was 340. i also was told about 75% of my excess. that would have put me at 118 loss to my dr. goal of being 145. my personal goal is 135. if i make it to 150 heck i will be happy. right now i am sitting at 129.4 loss.. over 10 pounds more than my 75% goal or 82% currently. i just hit my second stall (well it broke on Sunday) so i am losing again... i had the sleeve.. I am happy with what i had and i chose the sleeve because i had no other co morbidities other than the weight. Bypass reroutes your inside, and the sleeve removes some of it, but the organs stay in the same place lol.. it is all personal choice. I wanted my organs to stay in the same place, plus lets be real. I was self pay and the sleeve is half the cost of the bypass. -

2 days post op
Jazzy1125 replied to theemlewiseffect's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome to the losers bench! It is a hard but well worth it journey. Take a day at a time and do not let the stalls frustrate you, they are normal and a way for your body to catch up to what is going on. -
Post op: One month of nothing but broth and protein drinks ???
Jazzy1125 replied to BQT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Every program is different. Each person goes through a personal journey. The best way to succeed is to not compare yourself to others. We all have different body types, lose differently, and have different routines and eating habits. Follow your doctors orders, there is a reason he gave those to you. Having said that i was on liquids for 2 weeks following surgery and then followed by 2 weeks of puree. -
I just broke a 3 week stall yesterday. I know it gets frustrating but keep doing what you are doing.

Down from HW 303 to CW 264
Jazzy1125 replied to Cherie562's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am down from 340 ( HW) SW (303.6) to 176.. I too do not care about food anymore and i am 11 months out today. I eat because i need to fuel my body daily.. but other than that.. i could care less about food anymore. I never pick restaurants anymore and i barely ever purchase a full meal. -
Good Morning all, Its that time where i am starting to think about skin surgery. I am down a total of 127.6 and will be a year out next month. I am thinking about having it done some time in April when i hit the 18 month mark. The weight loss is starting to slow and the last 3 months or so, I have lost 6, 4.4. 7.4 and 5.2. Anybody have any ideas of surgeons and cost? This will be self pay again unless my Dr. Appt on the 15th of this month deems some of it medically necessary, which i do not see happening as i have not had any issues. I am just ready to get the process started. Any ideas and thoughts, suggestions, recovery time, any info at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Happy Losing!

That is the pricing i got from the surgeon that works with my surgeon, but they are a private practice in south florida and do not accept insurance even if its for the Panniculectomy. Somebody i used to work with went through the University of South Florida and had it done at Tampa General a few years ago for almost half the cost. The University of Florida offers the same thing which is closer to me. They also told me over the phone that some of the problem areas could be considered reconstructive and not cosmetic. I have an appt with my PCP on the 15th and will see what she says. The UF scares me some because its a college program, and even though there might be interns or residents, there are also Board Certified Doctors... but its almost half the cost. The Lower Body lift and Thigh Lift combined was 10k .. A consult appt is only 50 bucks. I am thinking it is worth the appt just to weigh my options. If somebody highly does not recommend this idea, please let me know.. At this point i am in the beginning stages of it all.
