    1st appointment on Saturday

Be honest with your Dr. Afterall their specialty is for folks who have tried diet after diet and i am sure they will know when somebody is not being honest. I think that would be the one thing that would prevent you from getting it. Dishonesty as they probably feel that if you could not be honest with them, how are you going to be honest with yourself and make the changes that you need to make after they invest their time and expertise into helping you become a better you.
  2. Mine were only high day after surgery. Other than that they bounced back to normal.

    Notifications on app?

i dont think i get them in the app, but i do get them in the email. I would like to have that reversed actually. All the notification via email are to every thread whether i participated in the thread or not
  4. My doctor said 75% of excess weight! I am sure there are some who go beyond that. It all depends on motivation, determination, and drive to continually be there. Also accountability as to not start to slip over the course of time.

Hi all! New here, past Band to new Sleeve

Good Luck! I have never had the band so i cannot answer about that. I had the sleeve a little over a month ago. A decision in the making for 13 years. I wanted the bypass back in 2004, did all i needed to do for insurance approval and then somebody at work was in an accident and my boss asked me to postpone until the new year as it was Oct/Nov when i was close to finishing up the 6 month supervised diet and all that. Well i said ok.. and low and behold the insurance didnt cover it anymore effective Jan 2005. We fought the battle and lost with the insurance company.. Anyways.. Today i still dont have insurance that covers it.. LOL i was at that same job until last october and this new job didnt have insurance at all due to it being a small business. ( but that changes in jan). So i am not in a financial position to where i could do it self pay... It is the one investment i have made in my life on ME and nobody or nothing else. I do not regret my decision one bit.

100 lbs in under a year?

I didnt do this as a quick fix. I did this as a deterrent to get off track. Once i am on track i am fine, its the falling off i needed help with. This puts a rule in place for me and doesnt allow me to slip and get off track.
  8. I cannot wait to eat veggies. Following this thread for ideas! I start solids on December 20th.

    Alcohol

I am not a doctor but would not recommend it so soon. You will be way drunk off a couple of sips while your friends are wondering why you are putting sideways Have a great trip!

100 lbs in under a year?

Maybe people are doing totals. I know i do both but having said that.. when i was on a diet before the surgery, I lost 120 in 8 months. Sadly i put it back on hence the surgery, so it is possible especially with the surgery limiting what your intake is. Having said that i was at the gym 7 days a week back then too.
  14. So something weird just happened to me. I finished dinner a while ago and decided to have a SF Popsicle. About halfway though the SF Popsicle I had to stop. I felt like I had trapped air in my airways. And then came the pressure and burping to get it all out. Almost like I started liquids all over again at the beginning. Anybody have any idea what may have caused that? I have had SF Popsicles before and never had it happen. It was a really weird sensation and I would like to try and avoid it in the future but not really sure what caused it to begin with.

    Post op vacation

It should be fine.. Also on first night there let your waiter know of your dietary restrictions and they will accommodate for sure.. I was sleeved on 11/8 and going to DC this weekend. I would also let the medical doctor on board know of your surgery.

    Self pay

I had Dr Shillingford for 10500. Included pre op testing, consult, 2 nights in hospital, anesthesiologist and all that good stuff and a year worth of follow up Appts.. tho after the first one I will consult by phone.. Nothing extra needed, no studies or evaluations.. He did an amazing job, the ladies in the office are amazing, and the hospital staff are awesome as well.

What can I safely take for low back pain?

most docs do not allow NSAIDS... did you get a list of from your Dr for meds that are ok to take? We are not doctors in here (that I know of lol) so you might want to be extra careful with any recommendations. I do know for sure we are not supposed to have NSAIDS.. and always follow your doctors orders.

    Walking The Dog?

you will be walking starting day of surgery. The first few days you might only be able to go to the end of the block and back, for a few min at a time, but no worries by the time the first week is over, you will be up to your 30 min walks.
  23. Congrats on your journey

    Drinking water pre-op

the liquid diet shrinks your liver. since the dr is working on your stomach and the liver is the organ wither right next to or above.. by shrinking it, it allows the surgeon to see the stomach better due to its size being smaller
