    Please help!

That is exactly your culprit. I was told no rice, pasta or bread for a year. The potatoes i was given clearance on but only if i was still hungry and only a small portion. ( like a small piece of a baked, or boiled) I had to eat veggies before the potato. I think the rice and potato together are too much. Swap those out for green beans or some other non starchy veggie.. Keep us posted, you can do this and you got this girl!

    Pre Surgery jitters

Start a Journal! Although I have been lax about it lately as i have been really busy. For weeks before my surgery up to about a month after i wrote everything in a journal. It helped me express my feelings, worries and successes through each day both pre op and post op. I also have a weight loss thermometer next to my desk on the wall, where every Monday i come to work and update it from the week before.. ( in different pretty colors LOL). It has really helped me see where i was to where i am going. ALso the before and after pics are great idea!

    Suboxone before sleeve?

I Myself have no idea what it is but i wish you a smooth journey! If your doctor asked you to stop it for 2 weeks, it could be because it will interfere with the surgery but again, I have no idea what it is for.. I hope all goes well.

    Help!!

If you are in pain you should call your doctor. Soft foods are so close to puree that you really should not be in pain unless you are eating too fast and then it is more of a pressure in your chest than a pain. I hope you feel better and please reach out to your dr as they will know best. Keep us posted!

    Nervious about life after

i am almost 3 months out. I always think about food but never think about food.. Quite and oxymoron huh? Lets break it down.. I never think about eating. I am never hungry. Sweets and desserts do not tempt me in any way. I have to always remind myself to eat or i can get sidetracked easily especially when at work. On the other hand, I always think about food. What is in it if from a restaurant? Is it going to be beneficial to me if i consume it? Did i hit my protein goal for today and do i need to eat anything else? Did i drink enough water today? How many ounces did i intake and how many hours are left in a day? Do i want to make Banana pancakes this weekend? These are the types of things i think about. Its not about where and when i can have the next best thing but more about.. what is my meal prep going to look like and my menu planning.

    In a month I only lost 6lbs :’(

You may have hit a stall. A loss is a loss. Keep in mind that the surgery is just a tool and we do all the work. It would be the same for any weight loss. As Wanda said.. it all adds up to your goal, no matter how long it takes. The slower the better sometimes, the turtle always wins the race

    Please help!

Track everything! There are so many hidden carbs in the food we eat. You say here that you hardly do any snacking.. so what are you snacking on? Take a look at that and what it contains. I know my Dr. said absolutely no snacking for the first year. My snack is my protein shake outside my 3 meals. In a year i can swap it for a snack. Also, what are your meals? Protein first?? I am almost 3 months and can barely get past the protein still. Make sure if you are eating potatoes, rice or anything like that.. its absolutely last and only if you are still hungry.
  9. I hope you get to feeling better! I did not have any pain ( i was one of the lucky ones) i woke up pain free from surgery. From what i hear though, most of the pain is gas pains. I would recommend you walk as much as you can and as often as you can as it helps relieve some of the gas. I wish you a speedy recovery!
  10. This is a question for all planners out there: How do you plan for an event or two? I am currently enrolled in Ballroom Dance Classes and i took off the 6 weeks due to surgery. There are two competitions that i actually signed up for.. a local one here in Florida that is just with the 3 local studios ( Feb 23rd) and one in September that is much larger, nationwide held in Miami. My dilemma: how in the world do i plan and determine what my weight may be in order to get the dresses i need. The dress for Feb, i can get something nice from Ross that has glitter or what not and with Valentines day and Prom coming up, dresses are starting to be on the racks but then if i wait till last minute i may not find what i need.. My biggest worry is the Sept 2019 competition. I know its far away, but i have to put my order in for my ballroom dress ( 2 of them.. a smooth and a rhythm).. I have to send measurements to the seamstress by mid july to give her time to make my custom dresses.. How do i forecast what my measurements and weight will be by the 20th of Sept. That is roughly 6 weeks from giving her a size to me using the dress. I know i will lose weight and inches over the 6 weeks, but how do you gauge how much? These dresses are not cheap, some run into thousands. Mine will run about 700-800 for each dress, They dont sell them in stores as far as i know ( I am new to the ballroom world) and i cant just walk in the weekend before a competition and pick out a dress to wear .... I am really trying to plan ahead and figure out what i need to do in order to not have a dress that is too big or too small when the time comes. Thanks for any input in advance.. Truly appreciated!
  11. i too do all my own separate cooking.. My stuff is strictly mine. When i make something that i know i will not finish with enough time before it will go bad..then i announce it is a free for all.. but for the most part.. there is a lot of support around here and and i can stay well focused.

    Pre op labs,x-ray,ekg

follow your doctors orders. I think all doctors are different. Mine did not have me start multivitamins until 4 weeks post op. I am now almost 9 weeks post op and havent started the iron or calcium. When i asked he said later down the road as needed. This could be because the multi i am taking actually has iron in it and i honestly didnt check on the calcium. Each doctor has their own plan and it really depends on what they put you on after surgery.
  13. You look amazing! Keep up the great work! I know holidays can be hard. I was kind of lucky and just beginning foods on Dec 20th, Thanksgiving i had just started puree.. so i was really limited in what i could eat and that is how i got through it. Next year is going to be the true test of willpower when i can eat whatever i want at that time. Hopefully i will have made some very good habits by then and i will have nothing to worry about

    January 14th date!! 🙌🏽

Take time to read as much as you can all around the board threads. Everybody's experience is different and you may or may not experience what another has. Reading the boards has helped me know what to expect or not expect..what may happen or not so you can be fully prepared. I had the sleeve so mine is going to be different.. but reading the boards will get you more information than a limited number of responses to your thread. Good Luck and welcome!

Two questions - 4days post op

I did not get up in the middle of the night but my dr had me on blood thinners to avoid blood clots for 2 weeks once i was home. I did walk as much as i could tho while awake, and actually would go for a walk outside for 15 min or so walking up the block. I gradually increased it as i could handle it.. As far as your stomach, its up to your stomach LOL... mine has kinda quieted now that i am between 2 and 3 month post op but sometimes it decides to whistle while i work LOL.
  18. i ty[ically weigh daily.. just to see where its going but i officially weigh once a week. i have gotten better and do a few times a week instead of daily. my goal is to only weigh weekly.

Time it takes to eat food

i use a timer. 1-2 minutes between bites..1 min if soft like scrambled egg, 2 anything else. I have found that if i do not do that.. i dont get in more than 3 bites.. it truly helps get your food in. It typically takes me 30-45 min due to timers and size of bites.

    An honest update. Weight Gain

you are 100% correct. The sleeve is just a tool. We have to work it, but dont beat yourself up. Change your behaviors. FInda therapist that can help you get to the root of the food issues. It will help. Also find an accountability buddy. One that is local to you and that can help keep you accountable and not enable you. RId your home of the foods you should not be eating. Start with a clean slate. You can do this! you have the knowledge of what to do, now just implement it. Make yourself incentive boards.. WAY TO GO Boards, motivational boards.. Good Luck
  22. i am a recent VSG. my diet consists of whatever i want it to be as long as my protein goes in first.. then veggies then carbs. at 2 months post op.. i can still barely get past the protein.. I look forward to the day i can eat more however i do incorporate veggies when i make cauli crust pizza.. and bananas in my pancakes, so its all about being creative..

    No fresh fruits/veggies, but.....

i think you may need wait. It looks like are just at 4weeks. My plan is fruits and stuff like that at 8 weeks, but every plan is different. Check wth your doctor. My 2 month consult was just last week and he told me that only now is my stomach no longer swollen.. Baby your stomach so you dont split or pop your staples.
  24. my normal is 6 hours and i was back at work 4 days after surgery.. i think i slept less the first few weeks, i am now 2 months post op and have been back to normal since about 2 weeks post op.

5 days post - op woes

we are all emotional after surgery. One thing to remember and which my son actually had to remind me when i complained about somebody at my dance studio.. was.. this was MY decsion, not anybody else's and it is not fair to others that we expect them to eat differently because of a surgery we decided to have. One recommendation is to flavor your shakes or something to feel included in what they are doing. I know the smells were there, but your nose is going to be so much more sensitive, you are going to smell everything every where and be more aware of the food around you. Make lemonade out of lemons and enjoy the company and try not to let the food bother you. It will get a lot easier.
