  1. True for sure! So many people think that once the surgery is done, they are done. This is indeed a lifelong committment and a constant watch of what we are doing all the time. If we let things pass, we will revert back to our old selves and be back where we started.

    Still deciding which surgery uk

I am not in the UK. However I decided on the sleeve because the only issue was my weight. I did not have any other co morbidity to deal with. What i was told by my Surgeon is: if there are other co morbidites then the bypass is the way to go as it will address the other issues as well. Good luck on your decision.

    Exercise Post-Op

I was cleared for more than walking after 6 weeks. I just started going to the gym last week, but went back to ballroom dancing after my 6 weeks which was right before Christmas.

    Heartburn 2 months post op?

I am almost three months out and just now ran out of pepcid AC. my doctor told me to stop taking it by end of 3rd month which will be feb 8th. I was taking them twice a day and then stopped after a month and i felt the heartburn, i was told i was to take it for 3 months. Last month i dropped it to once a day and have been fine. I am going to go the weekend without it and see if heartburn comes back and if so will go get some more- heres to hoping that now there is no more swelling, i dont need it anymore.
  8. I never covered mine. Mine had surgical glue over them. I was just told to not rub them while in the shower and to just let the soapy water flow over them.. they eventually fell off by themselves.

    Lab Schedule

Quick Question... I could ask my Dr. but my next call with him isnt until end of Feb, and I do not feel this is an emergency LOL Does anybody know when they typically run labs? Is each Dr. Different? How do we know when they decide they are going to run labs and how often? LOL... I feel like i am almost at 3 months and its time for other things to happen that are different now that i am progressing along. Any thoughts appreciated.

    Ate too fast...PAIN!

I do the same thing. I now eat with a timer from my phone.. Even if its banana pancakes. Next bite if its a soft food is 1 min, if anything other its a min of 2 min wait and then when timer goes off, i will decide if i need to add another 2min to the time depending on how i feel.

    Hello everyone

i am at almost at 3 months. My next visit isnt until the 22nd of next month. which will put me at 3 and a half months. I am exicted about what he may discuss, other than my weight. I think i may ask him for a goal weight at the next visit.

    Nicotine test please help!!!

Try to quit now.. especially for smoking so little. The surgeon requires you to be smoke free min 30 days before they will operate. I am not sure if they will do another test closer to the surgery date just to ensure you havent started smoking again.

    Protein Shakes

Thank you, now to find the Fairlife milk
  17. One would think that after drinking protein shakes since before Halloween that we would learn what is good and not good by now.. LOL Nope.. This is a case of I settled! I settled for less.. but no more! Today for the first time ever i made my shake with milk instead of water.. What a difference!!!! We will constantly be learning.. Why did i make it with milk today? Because for lunch i had ham/pickle/cream cheese roll ups.. and come to find out it was only 1g of protein LOL.. Shows you how much i planned today.. I just assumed it would have more.. but because i flopped that I needed additional protein in my shake. I added a tablespoon of PB2 to my chocolate protein and milk.. I know typically cant process more than 30g at a time, but hopefully i can process my shortfall today.. Anyhow.. it is really good and will use milk going forward.. That being said.. Should i buy lower protein powder if i am going to be using milk so it doesnt go over the 30g?

    STOP THE PRESSES!!!!

Check the almond milk. I asked at my support group last week about the almond milk and was basically told i could drink it if i wanted to but the protein was nowhere near regular milk. I bought my son almond milk and i bought me 1%. I compared the two today before i made my shake.. the almond milk.. 1g of protein, and the 1% 8g of protein.. My pure protein chocolate powder is 25 grams, and i added 1tbps of PB2.. 4g.. total 37g of protein.. thanks to the milk. PS i always add 5 ice cubes to make it frothy.. AMAZING!

    I GOT MY DATE!!

Congratulations! The best thing i can recommend is do not stock up. What you like before surgery you may not like after surgery. Your taste buds will change and then you will be stuck with a bunch of stuff you no longer like or that your stomach can no longer tolerate. Pre Surgery, just get what you need for pre surgery and maybe a week after since you will be tired and not want to be out and about.. but after that its trial and error to find your new flavor Good Luck!

    TMI question re. vomiting

depends on what happens. after surgery twice my stomach rejected what i ate.. the first time.. my head was over a garbage can at work in the middle of the day for an hour and a half.. producing what is so famously called here the foamies.. It is nothing but white foam.. and mucus like vomit.. no acid, no food.. nothing.. the second time was a short foamie issue. From what i hear it is when your stomach does not like what you ate and decides to put you through hell for a short time or a long visit.

    Drinking alcohol again????

i do not. I have heard if you are not careful you can land in the hospital. The smallest amount can have grave effects on us as it goes directly into the blood stream.
