I went to a seminar today and he was the speaker. He was really nice and helpful with answering questions. Suppose to be one of the best in Pacific Northwest. The hospital he works at is in Everett and specifically does bariactric surgeries and specializes in lap band, which is great. they also have great deals. Like i went to the seminar today and they gave me a coupon for a free consultation and it's worth like $260. They also give you coupon for free fills after you get surgeries and want to guess speak at the seminar. He also said that if you get surgeries with them and after you loose a lot of weight and want to do cosmetic surgeries like if you have saggy skin then they would do it for about $6000 less than a plastic surgery place. It seems like it's a good hospital in the long term. I'm going to call them tomorrow and see if they accept my insurance.

I was wonder if there's anyone out there who has Tricare and know if it's possible that they would pay for the romoval of the lap band? I do have a lap band. I am attending college and before I graduate I would like to get the lap band remove because I would like to join the military. I've done research and know that WITH the lap band I have no shot of getting in. Even getting it remove doesn't garantee that I'll get in due to the fact that you could have complications which is why I want to get it removed at least a year before I try. Does anyone know if they only remove it due to complications? Would food not going down and throwing up be a good enough reason (this does happen a lot but I have not gotten a shot in atleast 4 or 5 months so maybe that's a reason?) Thank you!

I have had friends been jealous of me being banded because a lot of my friends are also trying to loose weight as well. However they are half my size and only need to loose 10-20 lbs. Also I'm in college so I'm sure there's a difference between age group of people. I did told all of my friends about the band before I got it and started low carb diet. I lost 22 pounds and they were very supportive of me losing the weight. Once I got the band and started losing more and more weight the jealousy started. Some are supportive and some when people mention how much weight I lost they openly say that's because she has a lap band eventhough I do work my butt off in the gym to loose the weight. I literally only get fills every 6 months or more. The band just got me to realize that I needed to live a healthier life style. You just need to kind of educate people around you and say Hey just because I have a lap band doesn't garantee that I'll loose weight. Yeah it helps but you also have to put in a lot of hard work.

I need help! I'm a freshman in college and I've just started low carb diet today. My surgery is schedule for Dec. 23. I have to lose 5% of my weight which is 15 lbs (kinda ironic with the whole freshmen 15 thing). My first problem is...I really don't know what to eat. I've been eating only salads at school because every type of meat is almost always covered with breaded or flour battered of some kind. Does anyone have a recipes for food that I could make easily? I have a microwave and we do have a stove in the dorm on my floor. My next question is, can you lose 15lbs with just a month of low carb? How much has everyone lost with a month of this diet?

I have tri care and they require the Psych exam. They only cover 2 hours for psych exam and ooccording to the psychologist with the test & all it equal to 3 hours. I had to pay $200 for the extra hour. I choose someone from the list that my surgeon gave me. They really didn't even do anything. Just gave me a multiple choice test and talked for about 15 min. Total rip off. Also it's a good idea to get a list from your surgeon because I did a nutritionist consult. It was $140 and found out that I have to do it with a different once which will cost me another $250.

I'm doing low carb right now and this has been my favorite salad: spinach, baby lettuce, shreaded mazzarella, balsamic vinnegarette, and I usually add either cooked shrimp or light tuna to it. It's the best salad I've ever had! Plus it's only about 7 grams of carbs.

I'm only 19 and I'm thinking about getting this done too. The hospital i looked at in WA , the doctor said they do lap band surgery on kids as young as 14 years old. i have the same problem though, I have a feeling my doctor will try to push me to diet or something but i'm not going to let him. I really am set on lap band. If he doesn't support my decision then i'll find another doctor.

I have tricare prime. Do they pay for everything? Like the nutrition class and Psych evalve. I have a 45BMI so i am deffinitely qualified for the surgery. Also do they make you do the 6 month diet with physicians thing? I really think that would be pointless..I don't get why they make you do that when they know that YOU KNOW this is your last way of losing weight. It's frustrating because I'm going to college soon and i can only do it during summer, spring, or winter break.

The surgeon i talk to today actually said they do give you a fuzzy robe and like let you put your feet in those foot massage machine. He said they try to make it like a spa experience apparently and that it keept patients from getting too nervous before surgery...idk it might be nice?
