    What...What Is This? Lol.

Random comment about eating out on dates: Since I am loud and proud about my WLS, a date not knowing isn't an issue BUT there's plenty of things you will be able to eat and it won't seem strange! Some days I can eat a full 6oz steak and a side. Or a good portion of a salad. You won't need highly obvious micro portions forever. I think it's all workable as far as eating out. You can order off the "healthy" side of the menus and it's usually lighter fare with smaller portions anyway.

    The Maintenance Thread

Also cleared to go back to the gym in January post-plastics so that'll add to the massive calorie deficit. Buhhhh.

    The Maintenance Thread

I am never going to be able to maintain my weight with the little I eat argghhh Today I've only had one yogurt, 3 wings, a packet of protein chips, and a packet of dried seaweed. My plastic surgeon saw me today and said I looked awesome and not *gaunt* like some bypass patients end up.... but I'm on that path. Making turkey brats w/ coleslaw for dinner. Yesterday I ate straight JUNK knowing I would get sick but it was a lot of calories and I felt desperate in the moment to "stop losing". I did get sick, not shockingly. I'm about to have my plastics so I have GOT to get the cals and protein up for recovery. Big unf. I tried eating some beef veggie soup my stepdad made that *gasp* had TINY cubes of potato in it and it made me sweaty and nauseous. Edit: Just reading the few above comments. I DO know my BMR and it's 1350 (give or take). Which is comical since I eat about 600-700 cals tops (and obviously a lot less today).

    🍂 Nov 2019 Challenge🍂

Start by: 1. Posting your personal goal WLS goal: Finish plastics and tone up! Life goal: Make money, buy cats. 2. Add your surgery type, status (pre/post op, losing/maintenance) RNY, still losing but need to be in maintenance! 3. Weight and BMI (not necessary but encouraged) In ticker! 4. Tell us what you are grateful according to the day This is tough... I can't think of just one memory I am grateful for. I guess waking up from all of my many surgeries I've had is a good one. LOL. Also the days I chose to breakup with dysfunctional boyfriends of yesteryear. Those were all good memories. lmao..

    Photoshop contest! =P

I think for my WLS tattoo, I want one of the crude cub-Simba drawing Rafiki does in his tree in the Lion King. Because it a reminder to remember who I am and where I came from to where I am now. "remember.... simba... whooo... you...areee." *misty fog* *mufasa's face in clouds* basically not let this bangin' body get to my head.

    my personal little official thread

Oh yeah he did say there may be numbness between my belly button and the incision line. I had lipo... everywhere.. in 2009 and still have numbness under my arms. Very bizarre.

He said within 4 weeks I should be back at yoga. lol. But NO weights for 8 weeks. He said after week 1 I need to start stretching. And I should be off pain meds within 5 days. AMA! Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

    my personal little official thread

Just got done pre-op! My plastic surgeon is so thrilled with my weight loss and working out. He said it has made his job a lot easier. It is likely he won't need to suture my muscles very much because I have a strong core. He also said since I have virtually no fat on my abdomen, which is rare for a bypass patient, that it's doubtful I will need much, if any, lipo of my flanks and it should be a super easy recovery for me since it's basically ALL skin and nothing else. Having no fat makes the moving of your belly button a lot simpler and less prone to complication. I am stoookkkeeddd. I've lost 10lbs since I first consulted with him and he noticed immediately. 11. I had no clue sleeve was more popular than RNY. I hadn't even heard of sleeve prior to my first consult. "gastric bypass" seemed to be a common term. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. Reading an article about a study that Duke University did on teens that have RNY. Basically just determining whether it would be beneficial to do it at such a young age or not. Apparently children younger than TWELVE YEARS OLD have had this done. No comorbidities were required necessarily. They indicated the surgery didn't affect growth. I personally feel like unless the teenager is diabetic or has another serious condition related to obesity, they shouldn't be allowed to have the surgery because they probably can't understand the lifelong impact and requirements that the diet needs. I am not sure. It makes me feel unsettled that they would perform this surgery on a 12 year old. And if you're very young, have you really personally had the opportunity to take it upon yourself to make your own lifestyle changes before having this permanently-altering procedure? You're still likely eating what your parents buy you and don't have the independence or self-awareness to make your own lifestyle choices. I know if I had met the criteria for RNY has a teenager I would have jumped on it, and likely sabotaged myself horribly because I was not remotely mature enough or mentally prepared to make these kinds of changes in my life. I don't knowwww. I don't argue the point that it is "safe and effective" but is a child (especially prepubescent??!!) truly psychologically ready to make that decision/commitment? Shouldn't they have the opportunity to live independently for a while and see if they can make changes on their own to lose weight without being underneath their caregivers? What are your thoughts on pre-teens and teenagers having RNY? https://www.latimes.com/science/story/2019-10-28/kids-severely-obese-weight-loss-surgery-pediatricians
  13. Happy Monday to me! 10.5 months post-op. 146lbs lost since surgery. GW ACHIEVED!! I would like to thank... literally nobody but myself because I am the one who accomplished this! Hollllaaaa!! And this is before the skin removal so who knows what I will end up being. I am also still actively losing so I am not at equilibrium yet. Interested to see where this will go....

    Easy Lunch Ideas

I swear this is not a paid review, but I eat the Bariatric Pal Lite Entrees a few times a week that you can buy off the store on this site. Super quick.
  17. My bariatric office didn't care because I exceeded their weight loss expectations by a lotttt; they said I would only get to 165 at best. The plastic surgeon also had no opinion. He said I can do it whenever I feel I am ready. My weight has been between 129 and 133 for 6-ish weeks now and my dietitian said if I lose more weight, I need to gain it back so if I go lower post-plastics, it won't really impact the plastics because I'm supposed to gain it back. If that made sense. I am one year post-op today. If I wanted insurance to pay for my tummy tuck, I would have to be 18 months post-op. I don't think they'd approve it anyway since I don't have rashes or anything so I'm just paying myself now. I'm so ready for this. I had a breast reduction in 2017 and I am SO GLAD I did because my boobs would be SO DROOPY after all this weight loss (they were a 48H and taken down to a 46D.... and are now a 36B). So even if I lose (or gain) a little more weight... I doubt it will have any real impact on my skin.

    spine degeneration and herniation

so, totally different medical issue question here.. lol.. 1) has anyone here had a disc herniation and how long did it take to heal? i am going insane! it's been 4.5 weeks and totally stagnant with regards to improvement for the last 2.5 weeks. 2) does anyone here have disc degeneration and what do you take for pain since we can't have NSAIDs?? any OTC ANYTHING that provides relief? i can't keep chugging bottles of Tylenol (for the sake of my liver). icyhot and biofreeze help mildly. I have an appointment with my rheumatologist for issue #2, but he can't see me until December 6th. ;(

    Hair loss

I had a lot of hair loss from 3 weeks out to about 7 months out or so. Then it regrew, but now it's falling out a little bit again. In the beginning it did thin out A LOT. I lost about 40%. But it came back. Now I just shed a bit more than usual, but clumps don't come out like they did and it doesn't look thin anymore.
  20. I have my arm lift in less than 3 weeks. I'm going to come up with some badass story about my scars. Scars don't bother me at all (better than saggy skin and stretch marks, imo), but I'm still going to tell people I escaped prison through barbed wire.

    For Orthodox Jews

I am not Orthodox, but I always believed there was an exception to fasting holidays if you have a medical condition that requires you to eat/drink/take medications.

    DOES POUCH SIZE MATTER?

My surgeon said the typical pouch is the size of a thumb, but he makes them the size of two thumbs together because he feels that the 'single thumb' size is too restrictive. *shrug*

    my personal little official thread

I'm reading that the muscle repair can help with herniated discs and back pain by providing core stabilization and strength and better posture. That would be swell. LOL. I am so anxious for my pre-op Monday! SO many questions.
