Lots of people have it, but it doesn't cause symptoms. Why don't they have you bring in a stool sample? Would you still have to stop your GERD medicine then?

Pft this thread. Yeah... um... I gained 15lbs during my "food funerals" between my first appointment and the last one I had (June 6th - mid-September) and after finding out that I hadn't lost a single pound in 7 days on my pre-op diet, I went and got Burger King AND Taco Bell yesterday sooooo. Yeah. Actually feel pretty ashamed about it since I didn't even make it a solid 7 days without slipping up. I'm sure post-op NEXT WEEK will be peachy..

Went to the START Clinic yesterday and the hospital's scale says I haven't lost ANY weight. So... 8 days in out of 16 and zero weight loss. I don't even understand how this is scientifically possible.

I have to believe I am just experiencing an extreme drop in my metabolism and next week things will improve. I've been on super low carb diets (less than 30g total a day) and have been very successful. This is not working at all for me so far. I'm sticking to it, for sure, but I don't want to see my surgeon the day before surgery and him not believe I did what they said to do. I guess that's my main concern. I can't have whey protein isolates. I am intolerant to whey protein. Not lactose, but whey itself. Atkins shakes are half whey, half soy, so I tolerate those okay. My other shake is a soy protein isolate. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

I have a call on Monday with the bariatric nurse to confirm my medications. I think I need to discuss this with them. Because I've been on other diets before and lost more than this in a shorter time. So something isn't right... unless my body is in starvation mode and it's going to drop a TON all at once. It's really hard not to get discouraged, though, when you actually do what you're supposed to. =( I lost more weight in September when I was eating Taco Bell once a day. lol. Not kidding. I did gain 15lbs though during my food binge! But, day 2 on pre-op and I've already dropped 3lbs of water weight. So... it's fixable. I don't regret my food funerals. My thing is... after surgery... I don't WANT to eat what I want now. Because all I want now is junk which is how I got this size. So, for me, it truly was a goodbye. I don't intend on giving into my cravings or even if I dont have cravings... having any of the junky stuff I enjoy now. I can't do it because it's a slippery slope. It's better to abstain. It tastes exactly like if you were to bite into a fish oil pill. And mix it with creamer. Seriously repulsive. I am chugging it as fast as humanly possible and then chugging water.

My surgeon said 2 weeks for desk jobs, 4 weeks for physically demanding jobs. Can drive on your own in 1 week. I'm taking 2 weeks (fortunately there's Election Day and Veteran's Day in there so I don't have to use SO much leave). Obviously, though, you never know if you could have complications so it could always be longer. Better to rest than push yourself, I think. That being said, one of my bosses had this surgery 6 years ago and went back to work 3 days after getting out of the hospital, just to meetings. He said he felt really uncomfortable, but it was manageable.

Looking awesome! I haven't even had my surgery yet and I am already saving for skin removal 2 years out. If I'm going through all this, I'm going all the way!

I am pre-op and was given the Celebrate powdered vitamins to start taking. It tastes super gross, so when I am done my 30 days on this I want to switch. Unjury sells 90 day supplies for REALLY CHEAP, but I am confused about which I would need. They have Opurity Bypass and Sleeve Optimized and Opurity Complete Bariatric. What is the difference? I can't tell. Do you still need to supplement with iron or calcium?
