Okay... issues have arisen. lmao. In the last 2 days I've had 4 Colace, 3 fiber caps, 2 doses of Miralax, 4oz of aloe juice, and a glycerin suppository with no results. I have no clue what is going on! There's nothing even near the exit. lol. The suppository yielded less than a half ounce of liquid. Nothing to help the situation. Unsure of next steps here. This morning I woke up suddenly at 1am extremely nauseous. I jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom and dry-heaved my brains out for about 10 min. Only a small amount of mucus and saliva came up. There wasn't anything TO come up, as my last "meal" was a soy shake at 6pm the previous day. Before that I had 2oz puree chicken salad at noon. I went back to bed and woke up a few times nauseous, but not pukey. I am staying home from work and going in at noon. Trying to sip water but it makes me nauseous as soon as it hits my stomach so I've only had 6 sips in the last hour. What gives?!? Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

I am on bland puree (absolutely no seasonings) for 10 weeks. Why did I do this?

It's all good. I think it's healing up. I had something cold for the first time today which rules. Ice chips for life!

Because I have an ulcer.

Whoa, those are really, really high carb. I was told 10g of carbs or less and 3g of fat or less. I know pre-made is convenient, but trryyyyy some mix ones. I can't tolerate whey at all, but Now Sports makes a good soy protein. There are protein waters, too. Atkins is a little high in fat, but within the carb limit. Have you tried Atkins shakes? Also AdvantEdge is within the carbs and fat range and pre-made. Both are sold at WalMart.

So, I ate 3 shrimp, 3 cheese cubes, a pepperoni slice, and 4 green beans. DANGER ALERT! I had to get up and walk around a bit. I think that was 1 shrimp and a cube too many. lmao. Tell me how judgy I am though. I couldn't help but look around the table at everyone eating heaping plates of Doritos and cake and mac n cheese and meatloaf and potatoes and just think about how utterly disgusting it was. I was like HOW ARE THEY ALL EATING ALL OF THAT? THAT IS SO GROSS! Uh, hello. That was me 6 weeks ago. Insane-o.

I don't truly know if I dump, since my ulcer basically makes everything uncomfortable in one way or another lol... but my thought process is... once the ulcer heals... just follow the diet plan to the letter and not even be in a situation where I may dump. If it doesn't go in my mouth, I won't dump. And I will never know if I dump or not. The idea of it alone scares me, since I've had some badtimes with the ulcer that are similar to dumping syndrome and I know I don't want to feel bad. My boss that ate all that food... he DOES actually get dumping sometimes... but still eats junk, knowing he will feel awful. He just eats the crap... then prepares to go to the bathroom or lie down. Dysfunction junction. lol.

Keto Diet with weight loss surgery - What are your thoughts about it?

I dunnooo. I just ordered something off Amazon that alleged dieters were saying they were using. *shrug* Are there any OTC products that properly identify your "status"? -
Post op clothing
mousecat88 replied to Megan Sadler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't stress - that's an awesome thing! The only thing that will suck is having to continuously buy new clothes! lol. My surgeon doesn't have a clothing exchange, but fortunately my mother was my size (22) and is now a 12 and saved her in-between jeans for me. So I get SOME free clothes. Wal-Mart and thrift stores will be my go-to once I start dropping sizes. My goal weight, though, I am dropping $$$ on ALL THE THINGS! lol. I usually would stick my phone in my dress pants waist band to hide it while I walked around my office... did that today and it fell down my pants-leg. I'm going to wear these til they fall off my butt, though. -

Actually, I am really glad you mentioned that because I have noticed something... different... down there, too. Not bad, either. I also do have that... breath some days. THAT breath. Yum. It'd be nice if those sticks worked... I'm curious to keep track. -
Not everyone dumps. My coworker's daughter-in-law had gastric and can eat ice cream and pizza and all kinds of junk. Never gets sick. She's gained probably 2/3'rds of her weight back that she lost in a year. Don't even chance it by putting a single piece of chocolate in your mouth. Because you may be a "non-dumper" and eventually give in to more junkier things. I also just watched my boss who had gastric 6 years ago eat a plate of mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, boston creme pie, and chicken nuggets soooooo.

Keto Diet with weight loss surgery - What are your thoughts about it?

I was on Atkins for quite some time last year and those friggin OTC ketone sticks NEVER showed me being in ketosis. But I was losing weight. That's why I am wondering what the deal is. -

Also, can I mention how I hate the "new" Atkins. I followed the "old" Atkins last year and it was so tricky because everything "keto" labels net carbs. I don't give af about NET carbs... I want to know the total carbs! Even the new Atkins bars are too high in carbs for the OG Atkins. The Total Carb Elitists like myself. -

There's also a difference between a keto diet where you get into ketosis and a KETOGENIC diet, which specifically stresses high fat. A keto diet really only requires low-carb, but does have higher fat by its nature. A ketogenic diet... you literally add butter to your broth and stuff like that to purposely make it fattier. With Atkins, you aren't SUPPOSED to shovel bacon into your maw, but you do eat higher fats than a "regular" diet because you're supposed to eat more "good fats". Atkins is not a ketogenic diet; not supposed to be anyways. You're not really aiming for high fat. -

Real, serious for realsies keto you can't have yogurt (or pretty much any dairy except heavy cream and cheese). BUT, it's *really* only about the carbs at the end of the day. So if you can eat the yogurt and still be within the carb restriction, you should still see results. Just make sure the yogurt isn't too sugary because that will kick you out of ketosis. -
I am at 400ish calories a day and I am 6 weeks post-op. The surgeon says my long-term caloric intake should be between 800-1000 around 8 months or so.

Why don't more people get the MGB? I love mine!
mousecat88 replied to UnderTheCaliSun's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
The article I just read says it does cause more acid reflux because your "old stomach" and pouch are in the same "loop" so the acid from the old stomach can, in theory, back up into the pouch... which can't happen with regular RNY. I had never heard of the surgery before this forum... doesn't seem like most insurance covers it yet. Re: the dumping. I am glad dumping is a risk. I had a semi-dumping episode as a reaction to some cream soup and it is a massive deterrent. It's basically trained me to never, ever want to risk having carb heavy, fat heavy, or sugar heavy anything, ever again, because I never want that experience again. I look at it as an awesome training tool. -

Oh, I see. I looked up a description and it says it's not good for people with acid reflux issues, but other than that.. same effects. I have BADDD acid reflux, so wouldn't be a good choice for me. Also says not a lot of studies done yet so it's not covered by most insurances. Probably why they don't mention it as an option. -

I had never even heard of a "mini" gastric bypass until this forum. I'm still not even sure what the difference is. lol. -
Try a more absorptive size... maybe a plus/ultra one? And that you're pushing it to where the tip ends and the plunger part begins, so it's far enough in. Sounds like you probably just need a thicker size! Kimmie was way more thorough than me but yes... I concur. lol!

How is water going for people?
mousecat88 replied to jultrim18's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was about 10oz a day for 3 weeks. I've managed to get to 40 usually, but I get nauseous when I drink... I force through it when I can. I sip all day but then I look in my thermos and it's like nothing has been drank! Other liquids count, too, towards your total, though... like broth and soup and popsicles and shakes and stuff. -
I hit the amount of cheese the average American eats in a year today! Which I think is a low number or maybe I am just not average. lmao. Mmmm cheese.

I took the Phenergan, Carafate, and Pepcid last night and 45 minutes later dry-heaved a bit in the shower. Maybe just was having some weird off day. I have no idea. Today I feel fine!

I don't count calories or anything. BUT, I eat the exact same food every day because I am on bland puree for 10 weeks (possibly longer... we will see). It's just easier to eat the same thing. I know that what I am eating equates to roughly 400 calories a day. Everything is low-fat and low-carb. I have a yogurt for breakfast, a hardboiled egg as a snack, 2oz of meat for lunch, and a soy shake. Sometimes a tablespoon of cream cheese. That's every day. lol. Dietitian and surgeon are good with that given the ulcer. Again, they are happy with my progress and everything... it's just me being scared it's "not going to work" or I will "never" reach my goal. I'm just getting started with exercise... just officially got totally cleared today.
