Intermittent Fasting Questions
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I take Ambien and Valium each night so... yeah. lol. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Can someone in layman's terms explain intermittent fasting to me? Because I already eat all of my food within an 8 hour window each day, so I am confused about the "fasting" part. Am I already apparently intermittently fasting by sticking to this 8 hour window? I eat between 9ish-5ish every day. I looked through the existing thread for IF'ers and I don't really understand the difference between... just eating between a certain timeframe and the 16:8 stuff or whatever. Also, when is this supposed to be healthy for you, technically?

Not allowed to have senna. It's a stimulant and I have an ulcer. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

I just had the weirdest night. After the second suppository with minimal success, I went back to work. At 4 I got very nauseous. Went to the ER. They did a CT of everything. I HAVE NO POOP IN ME AT ALL. 10 DAYS AND ZERO POOP ACCUMULATION. Who needs fiber? NOT ME APPARENTLY. It's just a friggin mystery! They called the bariatric surgeon and he was like... okay, cool... just go back to eating and you're good. So. No poops in 10 days is kosher for me. No leaks, no poop in places it shouldn't be. Just no poop. Aight. I have been having nausea from the ulcer so the ER gave me FIVE more meds for that. Jeebus. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

Intermittent Fasting Questions
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Oh, I have a 200 page manual with grocery lists and food progression and meal plans and all kinds of stuff. But no focus on timing, specifically. Not that I can recall anyways. Everything is all jacked up since I am on extended puree foreverrrrrrr. Seemingly. I have had zero energy. But I always have. Even tiny, skinny me had zero energy. lol. I can't keep my eyes open and crawl into bed at 7. The older I get (and mind you I am only 30), the sooner and sooner I crawl into bed. Staying up until 9 is scary because I'm like OMG HOW AM I GOING TO MAKE IT THROUGH WORK TOMORROW. lol. -
Intermittent Fasting Questions
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I don't have a schedule by the surgeon. Just breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner. That just happens to be when I eat, and there's enough time between each one. I am pretty much just having 3 or 4 of the 5 right now, and he says that's fine. My personal schedule is 8-9 yogurt, 10-11 small snack, 12-1 lunch, 5 dinner. *shrug* I go to bed at 7pm! lol. How in God's name do you stay up from 4am to 11pm. I would be dead. lmao. I get up at 7 and go to bed at 7 and want to die. -

https://blog.bulletproof.com/intermittent-fasting-guide/ I read that. I don't get how 16:8 is any different than me... eating everything within 8 hours. Or is it the same. *head explodes* -
Intermittent Fasting Questions
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Yesss I read a few pages of that thread but it is insanely long. lmao. I read some "Guide to Intermittent Fasting" I googled, but it seems like I am already... by virtue of when I eat anyways... doing that. -
I haven't been obese very long. When I was thin, I judged people. I never once said anything to them or stared or anything overtly rude. But I would notice walking by and mentally make comments. If I was somewhere with friends and, say, in a car where someone couldn't see or hear, I'm sure we would make comments. I was VICIOUSLY cruel to my mother who was obese. I am obese now and still find myself looking at other obese people. Except now, I remember that I look similar to them and I just feel really depressed about myself because I DON'T want to look this way. I think "OMG Do I really look like THAT?!" Sometimes I completely forget I am obese and when I look in the mirror it is a huge shock. My brain still sees me as 140lbs. It hasn't caught up to the fact I am 250lbs. I haven't had that much time living in these shoes... and hopefully won't much longer. I have more compassion for people than I did - I make an effort to make sure I smile to everyone I pass or not do the small things that make me, now, feel invisible to someone else who is my size.... things I inadvertently did when I was thin. I don't know if I necessarily feel empathetic... because I did this completely to myself and sometimes I project that onto others. I know everyone has their own reasons why they became obese. Not everyone "did it to themselves". So, yes, I admit I am judgmental. I am hypocritically judgmental. I hate when people judge me, but I haven't broken totally out of that socially ingrained bias against obese people, either, because my brain still thinks I am skinny half the time. It's a work in progress, but at least I am working on it. And maybe judgmental isn't the right word anymore. I just feel down on myself when I see other heavy people. I never, ever would do anything to make someone else feel bad about themselves. But I do a whole heck of a lot to make myself feel awful. I don't let anyone else make me feel awful, though. Even the ones I KNOW are judging me. I don't care what other people think of me... I harshly care about what I think about myself.

Does the diagnosis of PCOS have any affect on the rate of weight loss post-WLS? I've had numerous doctors from all fields tell me I have PCOS, but no one has ever tested my androgen levels so I just had those labs done today. I don't have really any excess facial hair or anything, but I do have jawline acne and generally severe acne. Are there any medications they give to assist in weight loss after WLS if you have PCOS? I was on Metformin for what they thought was "insulin resistance" even though my glucose and A1C were always beyond perfect. I had started getting skin tags, and the Metformin made them stop appearing. They pulled me off Metformin when I had surgery last month, though, since my glucose is always normal. UNRELATED: I don't know how to tag an admin (or who they even are?), but I need this deleted from "The Gal's Room". If someone could assist with that, please let me know!!! I posted about it in Website Assistance.

SUNUVA. The surgeon's office said if I continue to have cramps into the night to go to the ER. >=[

POOPDATE (poop update). Second suppository at lunch initiated some movement! It was small, but it was mine. I definitely feel some cramps now. Along with the second suppository, I had 4oz of aloe juice, Miralax, and a Colace. I am hoping that another dose of Miralax tonight and another Colace + a 3rd suppository in the a.m. will get me free n' clear! #suppositorynchill #BypassSagas

It's sort of a mixed bag... I haven't gained any weight. But I've gone a while without it moving, which is depressing BUT it's also good to know so you can monitor if you're having a stall and need to make some adjustments to your diet. I definitely get bent out of shape if it hasn't moved that day... but... the days it does move is a great day. lol. I guess whatever you want to tolerate. Like this morning, before it settled on a number I saw it was going to say I hadn't lost anything so I jumped off before my tracker could record it. lmao.

I'm not on any meds for any health problems due to obesity. I'm doing this so I can fit in friggin' airplane seats and horseback ride again. lmao. Just be able to do the things I did when I was skinny. I know it's not good... but it's been 6 weeks and I weigh myself every.single.day. It is some days really really disheartening. It's a bad habit, and I know I should weigh like.. bi-weekly... but I can't help it. I just wanna see those numbers drop.

Still considering- have some questions
mousecat88 replied to jenniferinfl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In a few months, I can have virtually any fruit except ones with membranes (citrus). Proteins should always come first, but if you still have room for fruits, you can have them. I can also have virtually all veggies except broccoli stalks, potatoes, celery, and asparagus stalks. Again, if there's room. People are always eating salads with chicken/salmon, etc, making smoothies. There's a billion recipes that incorporate all sorts of veggies in with things. Lots of really good bariatric cookbooks. I don't drink coffee, but was told at 1 month, 1 cup a day is fine. I'm sure people farther out have more... it's really just a concern at first due to dehydration from caffeine. I am 6 weeks from surgery and I can't comment on "is my life better" because I'm not "there" yet. Life doesn't suck. I don't want nearly anything I did pre-op. I feel like I could live on proteins alone forever. I stopped cravings carbs. I don't want fruits like I used to enjoy. I didn't have any typical comorbidities either when I had surgery except pseudotumor. I lost a lot of weight on my own, too, but gained it all back. With this, unless you really mess up, you won't gain it back like rebound with dieting. I ate total crap (and healthy stuff) before surgery and my labs are normal, too. Not even fatty liver. They do say never drink alcohol because you don't absorb it the same way and get very drunk very fast, but some people on here can manage a drink every so often. The risk of alcoholism is much higher. -
I actually like the taste. And it certainly didn't seem to hurt anything. But it is sort of expensive, so I didn't know if it actually DID anything. lol.
-
Anyone have thoughts on Aloe Juice? Someone on FB recommended it to me and I took some last night. Is it BS or does it actually help with anything? lol.
-
You're doing fine! I am 6 weeks out from surgery and hit about 50oz a day of water and 40g of protein a day. I get nauseous when I drink still. I drink warm water and that helps some. I eat about 400 calories a day. I had a nearly two week stall and just recently went down 3 pounds. My first two weeks out of surgery I only got 10-20oz of water a day! I've lost weight, but I still see other people who had it the same time I did losing way more. It'll happen when it happens... but it'll happen. I had a lot of regret at first, but it's shifted to envy of other people. lol! Our brains are bastards.
-
I have a sneaking suspicion I am going to end up in the ER and they will either do a massive enema or remove it surgically... which I would actually highly prefer. Please just knock me out and deep clean me. lol. I've had nausea since surgery, as a result of the ulcer. It's just gotten worse since late-night Tuesday, and the "worseness" is probably from poo-related issues. But I've had the vomiting feeling when I drink since surgery.
-
I was poopin' just fine prior to 9-10 days ago. Going every day. Then screeeeech. The train stopped.
-
About 50oz a day of hot water. I basically feel like I want to puke every time I sip due to the ulcer so it's harder to get more. They're satisfied with 50ish until the ulcer heals. I do also have a 8oz shake and broths some days on top of that. So, realistically, in the 60's. Which is decent.

POOP CHRONICLES UPDATE: Surgical nurse said to take 2 doses of Miralax, another suppository, and 3 Colace today. I told her I still have zero urge to poo or discomfort. She is checking with my surgeon to determine exactly when I need to go to the ER; probably tonight or tomorrow morning if nothing "moves along". Told me to stick to clear liquids today (right after I had refried beans for breakfast, thinking the fiber would be useful instead of my usual dairy, WHOOPSIES).
-
Someone from their staff will get with me. They are really responsive. If for some freak reason I don't hear back, I'll go to the ER on Saturday. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

Yeah, that's kinda why I went all angles. lol. I know there's nothing by the... exit. But the surgeon said at 7 days no poop to do an enema or suppository. Tomorrow will be day 3 on the Miralax and Colace... 10 days no poops. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
