  2. It is a rude question for a stranger to ask, imo. The people closer to me know I had the surgery and they'll compliment me and ask how much I've lost but I don't want to say because it's not as much as I'd hoped so far. But since they are closer to me I don't really know how to say no, especially since I'm already in the habit of telling them. Only my one coworker really asks, the others just say "they can tell". I dunno... it is an awkward situation. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

    What to do when dumping?

I asked my surgeon if having sugar would help when dumping and he said absolutely not. That it would make it significantly worse and is different than diabetics with low blood sugar. Just lay down and riiiiide it out. Best thing for it. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. No one stayed with me in the hospital. My mom stayed for a short while but it was pointless. I just stared into space for the 3 days and watched TV. No one stayed with me when I was home either. No issues. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Post-Op Gastroparesis

everything else makes me sick too. I have nondairy protein shakes and have stopped even having those. I cant have my ham salad anymore or green beans. ;( I have kept a 3 day log for my surgeon so he can see the frequency. and I also averaged my calories and protein over the last 6 days. at 245 calories average and 34g of protein. just waiting for the 7th. 7. PREFACE: I WAS ON MY PROTEIN SHAKE SITE BUYING PROTEIN SHAKES AND THEY ARE A BODY-BUILDING/MILITARY MRE SITE AND HAVE THESE THINGS ON THERE AND I WAS JUST READING ABOUT IT - I AM NOT INTENDING ON PURCHASING FOR DIETING PURPOSES BUT AM JUST CURIOUS BECAUSE IT SAYS IT GIVES YOU MORE ENERGY AND MENTAL ACUITY AND I ALWAYS NEED HELP WITH THAT, LOL.. (I can sense the scolding from afar) My protein shake site, Redcon1, sells these non-stimulant weight loss pills that are supposedly T3 hormones (L-Thyronine). I followed this down the rabbit hole a bit and saw that some people said they used it to get over weight loss plateaus. BUT, I also read it is really good for an energy boost and just overall mental sharpness. I was wondering if anyone used anything like this for energy? I am always dragging ass (and always have my entire life, basically) and I can't take stimulant anything (it gives me panic attacks + ulcer + no thanks). I don't drink coffee, soda or tea for that reason. I obviously don't need it for weight loss - but a non-stimulant energy supplement could be helpful? The one on Redcon1 does have more weight-related stuff in it, like garcinia cambogia and linoleic acid, but there are ones on Amazon that are JUST Thyronine and nothing else. This isn't something I would consider taking while I am dealing with tummy troubles.
  8. Does having a stricture always mean you will regurgitate? I no longer have the burning sensation from where my ulcer is. But generally in the same area, every time I swallow it feels like something gets stuck. Like a hard lump. But then it passes through. This is even with liquids. I can't tell if it's just remnant pain from a healing ulcer or if it could be a mild stricture, not quite tight enough to cause "back-flow". Doc said if my ulcer heals and I have no pain I don't need a repeat endoscopy, but this new sensation is strange and I can't tell what it's from. I don't spit anything back up. My next appointment with him is Jan 7.

    Post-Op Gastroparesis

I figure I'm cursed. 13% of gastroparesis cases occur due to GI surgery. 5-15% of gastric bypass patients get ulcers. So I'm right in that pool of unlucky bastards. Anyways, I'll try not to speculate any further until the 7th when all my greatest fears are realized. LOL. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Post-Op Gastroparesis

I am in constantttt communication with the doctor's office and they're just like I dunno. Literally have been zero help thus far. The only one who has helped is my surgeon and he is behind a wall of nurses and I have to wait until the 7th. None of them believed me when I complained prior to my ulcer diagnosis and they all thought I was overreacting to postop pain. But my surgeon believed me. Thank God. Post-Op Gastroparesis

It doesn't hurt to swallow and I don't have any pain or anything. Just massive nausea after I eat after a while. Like badddd. Today I ONLY could get down 1tbsp of cream cheese and 2 tbsp of ricotta (and got sick after both of those) plus had 2 other bouts of nausea. I am eating like 200-300 calories a day and hardly any protein at this point! The other day I had only 10g! The doctor's office knows about all this but I'm still waiting for that appointment. In the meantime I am probably 100% malnourished but I feel so sick I can't stomach anything. It's turning into a real fear of food because I am averse to the nausea. Ya know what's awesome????

Girl, 13lbs in less than 2 weeks is amazing. lol! I am 37lbs in 8 weeks. I am putting the scale away though. Because it doesn't really matter. I'll get there whenever I get there.

    Calorie Intake

I am at 2 months and my nutritionist said around 500 calories is about where I should be. Long-term goal is around 1000 (some others are a bit higher). Do you portion everything out and eat only that? That would help keep calories lower. I eat out of 2oz baby food cups and measuring spoons so I never go over. Does your plan say how many ounces you should be eating per meal? That's what you should go by, not calories. Around now I am allowed to move to 5oz-6oz per meal max, but I can't fit that much in. I know some people who can eat basically the same amount, but just because it fits without hurting, doesn't mean you should do it. Def stick to portion sizes and not calorie counts.

    'Ropey' Fat/Hard Fatty Nodules?

The only lipoma I had was a GIGANTIC one on the back of my neck (aka the buffalo hump). I had it surgically removed and it was oddly attached to muscles, which the surgeon wasn't expecting. It was definitely sensitive when I pushed on it.

    Pain meds after

I was given 14 Percocet and took 2 - it did nothing, lol. The rest has been shelved in case I ever break a bone or something that is actually painful. The surgery was painless except for muscle pain.
  17. I gave away all of my no-no foods right before surgery. Leaving me with just protein shakes, essentially. LOL. I had to go to the grocery store a week out to do the fill-in. My house is 100% bariatric friendly. I live alone, fortunately.

I thought I was in the clear...

Yeah, the bleeding part should probably be mentioned to the doc. As you may have seen on another post about my personal poops.... I went to the ER after 10 days and I was friggin' POOPLESS. I didn't poop until Day 15 and it was a micro poop and then on Day 17 I had the real poops. It was another EIGHT DAYS until I pooped again (today). No constipation though. I did take Miralax, glycerin suppositories, and Colace because I thought there HAD to be something up there and it will definitely get things RUMBLING. Even if, in my case, nothing appeared. #ghostbowels Anyways, at least take Colace and Miralax. You don't want to go to the ER and have a doctor stick his finger up your butt like I did. Or maybe you do... I don't judge.

    No pizza for 4-5 months???

Preach. I had a few people tell me that they "seriously questioned whether I was ready for surgery" and that it probably wasn't right for me, when I posted pre-op that I was really nervous and that I had cheated on my pre-op diet. Well a giant middle finger to them because I am doing great. It's no one's place to ask someone else if they are ready for surgery. You can privately think that, but I am sure they have thought this over before doing it and are posting in a state of anxiety or worry. Plus, OP ALREADY HAD THE SURGERY according to her side stats soooooo... no point in asking that because it's a little too late regardless. I never thought I could go this long without Taco Bell... but it's been two months and look at me now. lmao.

    Self esteem

I can tell you I have more self-esteem now at 240lbs than I did at 140. I was skinny and fit and had a 6-pack and HATED my body. I thought I was the most disgusting thing to walk this earth. Becoming fat was in a twisted way a blessing because I learned to love me for ME and not for how I looked. I was vain and self-absorbed and would pick at every invisible fat roll when I was skinny. Self-esteem should never be connected to the way you look. The only reason it is for some people, I think, is because society says it's "bad and wrong" to be overweight. Well, as a former skinny person... if you don't love yourself, you won't love your body no matter how it looks. Now I hope to lose the weight so my inner confidence matches my outward appearance.

    Hair loss

Just dealing. lol. I ordered keratin supplements and biotin/collagen shampoo/conditioner and keratin masques. But really, there's nothing to do about it very much so you just roll with it. Meh, it'll come back someday.
  22. She says they just dissolve in your mouth, basically. I think she said the chocolate was dry. She's frozen some for me whenever I can have normal food again. lol.

    No pizza for 4-5 months???

I was told to never have bread again (or pasta, potatoes, rice). So unless it's a cauliflower crust, I don't plan on having it. I can have one piece of whole wheat toast at 8-9 months, and that's only if I get all my protein in first, so probably unlikely I will ever have room for starchy foods.

    RNY 12/17 Over inflated

I had zero gas pain post-op because my surgeon said he spent a good amount of time sucking it all back out. lol. But everyone says GasX helps. I don't understand why it would help, but I think they have dissolvable tabs you can take.
  25. They now also sell SmartCakes which are only 38 calories and my mom says they are amazing. (the lemon flavor)
