It doesn't make stomach acid. Your bile is connected to the old intestinal limb and digestion occurs at the Y, not in the stomach. There's mucus in the stomach that helps with breakdown. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

I was on laxatives for a week leading up to the ER visit, including suppositories. Then when the ER said I had no feces much less an impaction, the surgeon's decided I shouldn't be arbitrarily taking laxatives when I am not producing any waste because all it was doing was making my stomach hurt... I've already discussed it with both surgeons in my office. I even went to the ER at Day 10 once and there was no poop in me at all, as shown on a CT scan. They said it's unusual but if I have no discomfort not to worry about it. I eventually went at Day 17. Usually I go at Day 8, but it's been about 13 days so I decided to try some laxatives. A small amount came out. I'm good. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

Had some severe dry-heaving again yesterday and nausea. I think it was from a strong pain killer I took, however. I have eaten about 8oz in a week and dropped 10lbs. I feel pretty weak. Still off work til Tuesday. Just don't wanna eat or do anything. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Happens to me postop if I drink with zero food in my tummy or digestive tract. Just comes right out without warning. Fortunately has only happened at home! Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

Still in the game! Sorry no posting for a few days! Was in the hospital Friday to Sunday to get my gallbladder out and fix a surprise hernia! Gained 2lbs, but I think it's from all the fluids. BUT, now I can eat and drink without being sick! Not sure if I'll make my goal weight for Feb. 1, but this was way more important anyways. Just been vegging out while I heal! Yeah it was just so inflamed it started to mesh into my liver. He said it must have started doing that years ago, normally it just pops right out. Ironically, the pain helped me eat like I was supposed to. Now I want to shovel everything into my mouth. I just need to learn to ignore the hunger. this is really weird to me. aside from the pain of where the gallbladder was, all the nausea is gone. i don't feel any restriction at all and i am ridiculously starving. i have to train myself all over again. i had 4oz of oatmeal super quickly, inadvertently, but had no ill effect. it's like the pain was keeping me on the right path. i hope i get some fullness cues back. Ever since I was approved for surgery about 3 weeks ago, I have been eating so poorly. I have been eating every single thing I have convinced myself I will "never have again"... to the point of absurdity. Like a bucket list. I am eating worse than I ever have in my entire life, probably. I am really struggling to get on track. I had no weight loss requirement before surgery or anything, and my doctor knows I've gained weight but said it was okay at my last appointment with him. Because he said it was okay, my brain gave me a free leash to just go and eat whatever junk I can find. I'm struggling to stop. My lunch today was just a huge plate of potato and macaroni salad... followed, ironically, by an Atkins bar. My breakfast was brownies and Doritos. And I don't even LIKE sweets. I have to start the pre-op liquid (I get one meal a day) diet on the 16th. Did anyone struggle with this coming up to their surgery? I saw some people in Reddit refer to it as their food funerals.

Heyyy! I got home a noon today. So, it turned out my gallbladder was so inflamed it had fused to my liver! I also had a hernia, not another ulcer specifically. The area where the intestinal junction meets under the new pouch had developed a hole in it. He said most people retain fat there but if you lose weight weight, sometimes those sutures separate before healing so he fixed this hole. I just took a 5 hour nap. Basically feels like a cracked rib and some muscle soreness on my right side. Can't wait to see the brutal heparin injection I get this time. lol! I havent eaten in 74 hours so tomorrow I'll experiment with some food! Tonight is rest and water. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -

Has anyone here been diagnosed with pseudotumor? I was diagnosed with this in July of 2017, and my neuroopthamologist said it would go away if I lost just 10% of my body weight. Well, I lost way more than that. That year, I lost 60lbs and NOTHING changed with respect to my optic nerve swelling and diagnosis (I have since gained all that weight back). After you had the surgery, did the pseudotumor and optic nerve swelling resolve itself? That is one (of many) of the primary reasons I am opting for surgery.

I LOVE MY SURGEON. I am scheduled with him for tomorrow noonish for gallbladder removal. He came by to see me personally in the ER after he got out of a 10 hr surgery. He also explained that he made my stomach slightly larger because some surgeon's make them too small which causes issues swallowing and that if later on in life a patient develops an ulcer that doesn't heal, they have to remove the pouch entirely.. so he leaves a tiny bit more so if that ever were to happen, I would still have a stomach. Which makes so much more sense now that I'm not on drugs from my endoscopy. Anyways, they are admitting me tonight. Surgery tomorrow. Thank God! Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -
