Effects of Nutrient Deficiency on Skin
mousecat88 replied to 🅺🅸🅼🅼🅸🅴🅺's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm lucky I don't have any scarring. I guess there are a few small pock marks on my forehead, but I have bangs (I've had them all 30 years of my life, so they aren't going anywhere ever) and I will always have forehead acne from hair oils so... whatevaaa. lol -
Just an observation: I've noticed that the proper serving size for almost all foods is actually the serving size bariatric patients are supposed to eat. Everybody just eats 3 times the serving size on the labels. Nearly everything is 1 cup or less or 4oz or less or 1 slice, etc. Makes life easy since you don't have to measure nonstop... just actually follow the recommended serving size for once. Once upon a time I used to laugh at how little they'd say a serving size was... but now it makes so much sense. lol. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

nutrition labels: an observation
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
True. Pretty much everyone I know eats very unhealthy (like I did). They may look good on the outside, but eventually the insides won't look so pretty. Not EVERYONE... but I am glad not to risk it anymore. -
Effects of Nutrient Deficiency on Skin

On the bright side! I think my insurance covered the Aczone because it was only 35$ for like 2 months worth! Normally it's over 100$. Booya! Should be mailed to me by the end of the week. -
Effects of Nutrient Deficiency on Skin

I have the tretinoin cream, too. My doc said I don't have "that" type of acne so retinoids won't help. I only had the Retin A from a while back. He said Retin A is for like.. clogged pores/white heads and that kind of thing. I was using the Retin A in desperation before I went to the doctor. Mine is superficial bacteria and sad, sad hormones. I don't get whiteheads though. Just cystic painful lumps or random tiny red dots. I am also now getting jawline acne, but that's from the surgery messing with my hormones apparently. -

My ex and his sister are like this. They only eat junk food. Period. TONS of it. And are borderline underweight. Baffling. -
Effects of Nutrient Deficiency on Skin
mousecat88 replied to 🅺🅸🅼🅼🅸🅴🅺's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
yeah that's what the surgeon thinks. but no idea when it will go away, if at all. this medicine is "supposed" to help. spironolactone is the good oral hormonal one but it's a diuretic and the surgeon said I cant try it for 9 more months. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -

Recovery from the gallbladder, pain wise, has been much worse than the bypass. It's been 3 weeks and I am still sore on my right side. Hard to lift things and I get tired fast. He fixed the hernia in there too so that's also healing I guess. I'm going to give it one more week before I resume exercise. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Protein is Disgusting to me now!
mousecat88 replied to jdy83's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Protein is the bane of my existence. I am almost 3 months and still usually at 20g-30g a day MAYBE. I just had my 3mos labs drawn, all the protein tests, so we'll see. My muscle mass is totally fine. I have drank maybe 10 shakes since surgery. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -

Just an update on this. Was on erythromycin benzoyl peroxide cream but it didn't do anything. Saw doctor today and he prescribed Aczone and Doxycycline. The Aczone has to be special ordered. $$$! But the acne is still very bad from surgery. It's pretty embarrassing. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -

Just did my 3 month labs today. Had some steak last night and 2 hours later starting puking up tons of snot and spit. That went on for about 45 min, and then a LOT of undigested steak mush came up. I guess it was stuck somewhere. Surprised it still cane up after 2 hours. Other than that, doing fine. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -

I am 2.5 months out and still really struggling with sadness at not being the weight I expected to be. Yes yes, "what did you expect, to lose 100lbs in 3 months?" I don't know... maybe deep down inside I had hoped I would. I can't get over my impatience. I always want instantaneous results with everything. I know and knew going into this that that wouldn't be the case here. But I still end up crying and upset since I feel like I've gone through a lot of BS since surgery and I'm not happy with the results I am getting. In this particular moment, I just feel really depressed. I feel like I have such a long road before I lose another 100lbs and then so much more pain and money with all the plastics I want. And at this point I just anticipate endless complications. It just feels like a neverending road of pain and disappointment. Sorry, feeling bleak today and just needed to get it out. WHO EATS ALMOST PURE PROTEIN AND EXTREMELY LOW FAT AND CARBS AND DOESN'T LOSE A SINGLE POUND IN OVER A WEEK? AND YES I AM FRIGGIN' HYDRATED. GET REAL, BODY! DO SOMETTHIIINNNGGG. Aight, I'm better. Not really. But UGH! I lost this much on Atkins. FMLLLLL. Just had to rant. Woooosssaaaa.

Is it safe to drink Smooth Moves twice in a day if it's been 12 hours? I am getting mixed responses from my non-WLS friends. lol. Package doesn't say anything specific. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

I've been to therapists on and off since I was a young child. Never for depression. It doesn't help me because I just argue OR the therapist makes me feel bad. Been to definitely over 30. It's just sporadically since surgery. Never had depression problems prior. I just feel like sometimes I made the wrong choice and that like a lot of other weight related choices I've made, it was pointless. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

I feel some sadness because the only person I have in my life is my mother and every complication I've had, she just says "I have nothing supportive to say because I told you so" to and from the hospital. And she told me last week she was MAD I needed my gallbladder removed, even though it started going bad years ago. She told me she is convinced it is all related and I can't tell her otherwise. I don't have anyone in my life who supported this choice, so every time something bad happens, I just feel worse. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

Check to make sure your protein is covered by insurance

I have BCBS Highmark and they will not cover it because it's considered a food product. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Did you have to share a room in the hospital?
mousecat88 replied to jasmineinmymind's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I also had a private room. I would ask if you could pay extra for one. I didn't vomit at all... there's nothing in you to vomit after surgery. But I don't think I could handle someone bitching or snoring or watching TV when I want silence, etc. I don't like roommates in life, much less in hospital. lol. Keto was very successful for me pre-op last year. But low fat, low carb is the new life. Your body and metabolism will completely change post-op. Give it a chance. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -

You'll stick to low fat if you don't want to risk dumping or gallstones. Your new tummy isn't made to handle fats like it was before. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Rando Pouch Question - RNY
mousecat88 replied to 🅺🅸🅼🅼🅸🅴🅺's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Basically the pouch just holds food briefly and then it passes. Which is why you need to chew well. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
