Lawd have mercy, we have another one. *shrug* I am totally tolerant of other people's poor choices. It doesn't affect me at all.

The cup size... SO RELATABLE. I already had a breast reduction in 2017 and I just dropped a cup size so I am like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. lmao. I don't want them any smaller now! I wish we could pick and choose where it came out of. I sit at work pinching my loose bra fabric over my nips like a total freako.

#27/#28 Overcoming Obstacles/Biggest Struggles (I am SO slacking!) So, my biggest obstacle is eating. Ironic, right? Up until 1/5, it was very painful for me to eat. It really made me detest food because every time I would eat, it would hurt SO BAD, so it turned me off to the idea and has made me feel like food is the enemy. I am looking for a specialty therapist to help me accept food a bit better so I am able to reach my protein goals. I have been turned down by A LOT of therapists I've contacted because I am a bariatric patient and supposed to eat less food and they don't know how to deal with that. It's sort of like being a fat anorexic. LOL. Which isn't a thing in the DSM. I continue to lose weight and I am not malnourished; I hope to nip this in the bud before it becomes a larger problem. The prospect of the pain is terrifying, however. I do have an unhealthy relationship with food, both pre and post-op. It's like I went from overeating/binge eating/food addiction to the opposite end of the spectrum. In my mind, if I eat, I will get fat again. And I can't have that. It's a large mental hurdle and a terrible thing. Very unhealthy. I guess as far as overcoming obstacles, it was dealing with and healing up from the complications. I hydrate so much more now, now that nothing hurts inside. I also felt really awkward eating out at first, but now IDGAF about asking for a box right away or eating a tiny amount. I do need to learn to eat slower around people because I feel bad making them wait, and then I get foamy later. Just a habit I need to get used to. But I am happy I feel much more comfortable eating out now. And I am able to make good choices anywhere. I've also stopped bitching about the rate of weight loss. LOL. I accept it for what it is and I am happy with how things are going. We'z gon' get thurr.

Yeah maybe. I just wanna stick to what my team says. But if someone knew some dirty secret to lose more weight, I want in on it. lollll.

I'm sorry but I stand by my statement that it is terrible for someone to go through all of this just to eat garbage again ("if that's what made them big to begin with"). Be it once or every day. And I feel no shame in being judgmental about that. We can agree to disagree. And, yes, to each their own. People can ruin their surgery if they want to. Or take unnecessary risks. If it doesn't affect them, awesome. But if it may, why the heck would you risk that. Baffles the mind.

I have a pretty decent home gym and I have bought a few workout DVDs. I have tried Plus Size Cardio Kick, which is 33 minutes of nonstop cardio. I don't really like it because I find the footwork to be very confusing, and 33 minutes a bit too much for someone JUST restarting exercise after 5 years. I have Jillian Michaels Beginner 30 Day Shred and I LOVE IT. I LOVE circuit training. I feel like I get the most out of the exercise... cardio and strength... and I am not killing myself with 30+ minutes of straight cardio. I also have Total Stretch by Jessica Smith; I haven't tried that yet. Anyone have any recommendations for good circuit training DVDs? Especially ones for beginners. I have plenty of weights, etc, to complement the workouts if needed. I also really enjoy yoga, if anyone has some good DVD recommendations there. Nothing too advanced yet. Or maybe a staged approach like Jillian Michaels does. Nothing Zumba-y or dance-y. I am not that coordinated and I get easily confused. LOL. The only one like that I ever liked was Shaun T Hiphop Abs and I lost that DVD and now it is expensive!

I KNOW I would.. so I personally don't want to risk it. I don't have that trust in myself. Plus, I seem to be very sensitive to many foods. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

I personally give zero craps if other people wanna eat sweets or whatever, lol. I just wanted to know if there is any such thing as needing to eat something off-plan to benefit the body and if that would somehow boost metabolism? Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

But my entire question was about shocking the system. Not the rightness or wrongness of straying from what your team says is okay. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

Of course. I don't have a sweet tooth at all. I overindulged in carbs. But if you're not going to try your complete and total all to stick to the plan, what even is the point. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

Just using this thread as a running list of my medical/dietary commentary and questions. lol. Called the doc to move up my appointment since I can't eat and he did an emergency endoscopy today. He said everything he can see looks fine. He said he made my pouch twice the normal size and bypassed more intestine than he normally does "in case" I ever need a revision so he has extra stomach to work with. That kind of annoys me. He said it puts me at a higher risk of ulcers, which I developed. I don't really understand why he doubled the size of my pouch. I still get stuffed off 3oz though. He is removing my gallbladder on the 22nd. Pre-op I had a lot of gallstones, polyps, and calcification, so he hopes removing it will get rid of the nausea. It's bizarre though because everything makes me sick. I never, ever have high fat food. Even 0 fat stuff makes me sick. I hope it helps. GI Swallow on the 7th to see if there's a small bowel stricture he couldn't see in the endoscopy, but he doubts it. In the meantime, I guess I just feel sick for 3 more weeks and hope removing the gallbladder helps? I really don't want more surgery... [emoji53] I hope I can make it 3 weeks. He said if I can't bear it anymore to go to the ER and they will do emergency removal. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

Okay, yeah, I am def not straying from the proven path. I just didn't know if this shock your system concept was a thing or not since I had never heard of it being necessary. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

I think it's terrible because you got fat from eating those foods. Why would you still want them in your life? I certainly don't. I do not want to risk trying a bite, then trying another... then falling back into same patterns. It's a slippery slope for me. To each their own, though... it's our own journey. I am obscenely dedicated to this plan. I know 100% I will never deviate. I know people say it's not realistic. But I have gone through a lot of psychological issues with my weight and I am hyper-obsessive when it comes to diets and lifestyle changes. But regardless, eating a brownie doesn't seem like a positive thing 3 months out in an effort to shock your system. I think if you're already slipping up, there is an issue. It's just SO soon. Why would you even put something like that in your mouth if you've just gone through this major surgery to lose weight? I don't get it. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

Keto Diet with weight loss surgery - What are your thoughts about it?
mousecat88 replied to erics300's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
The plan, I have anyways, is low fat low carb forever. I had labs and I have tons of ketones in my urine. The diet is already putting you in ketosis. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -

Yes! The day of surgery I immediately felt 100% better! NO more nausea or vomiting or anything. -
This has been happening to me, too. And I have Mirena and NEVER had my period for like 5 years. But somehow it is breaking through. I will have my period one random day. Then nothing for 2 weeks. Then another random day. It is unpredictable and annoying. Doc said it will just happen until all the hormones settle down... whenever that is.

My secret wish came true. That I would never have to progress to a normal diet. Just kidding - I DO someday want to be able to eat normal friggin' food again. But a few days before my ER visit I started getting crazy nausea and dry-heaving and today my surgeon agreed I should drop back to full liquids from purees. The nausea really doesn't specifically seem food-related. Sometimes I wake up at 1am and dry-heave. Sometimes it's an hour after I eat. Sometimes, after I drink. Sometimes, 4 hours after I've eaten or drank. No rhyme or reason to it whatsoever. Whenever this all heals up, whatever it is, I feel like I am going to have a hard time "trusting" food again, after all of the horribleness from the ulcer and me correlating it to the nausea in one way or another. I'm on full liquids again until January 7th when I see the surgeon. Then ???? I can't even guess anymore. I've been on Zofran, Phenergan, Scopolamine, Pepcid, Reglan, Mylanta, Prilosec, and Compazine for nausea and nothing helps. I think I need an antacid or anti-nausea that hasn't been invented yet or something. Fortunately I have my BEEF/SALMON protein isolate apple pie shakes to keep me company. lol. Mmm fish apple pie.

The surgeon said I can start trying harder foods now but I prefer soft. I did have some steak the other day but two hours later the steak came up! It must have been stuck somewhere and just took a while for my body to realize it. I still pretty much eat only puree/very soft. I don't mind it. Sometimes I do all-broth days.

It's good I went early, too, because the bariatric surgeon saw my intestines had separated at the new juncture. O_O -

They saw I had stones pre-op but said it wouldn't cause any problems because they were giving me Actigall. WRONGOOOO. The gallbladder removal for me was rough because it had embedded into my liver. I ended up going to the ER to have it out instead of waiting for surgery day because I couldn't stop vomiting every day. That was on the 5th and I still have some sore spots. Definitely more painful recovery than the bypass by far. BUT, it's over with so I'm all good. lol! -
I had my surgery 11/1 and developed an ulcer, had to have my gallbladder out, and developed a hernia and IT IS STILL WORTH IT. I can't imagine any complication that would not be worth dealing with in order to lose this weight. PS: I am all healed up now. They will test you in the OR for leaks; my surgeon tested my pouch 3 times. So extremely rare to have a leak, and it is fixable. There's pretty much nothing they can't fix. There was a few moments where I felt like it was "unfair" these things happened to me and I was exasperated at having to deal with it... but losing the weight conquers all.

I've stalled for 2 weeks before. It's not considered an "issue" unless it continues more than 5-6 weeks, so says my dietitian. It just happens.

Okay so ya'll know I suck at protein. My daily averages range from 10g to 50g, with an average of about 30g a day. My labs already came back and all protein-related labs (and all of them, actually) are totally normal. I am also gaining muscle mass. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? Like, am I still okay on low af protein? My iron is also pretty high (like, high as in above normal high). So many questions. But I guess it's a good result. Followup on the 5th..
