How long have you been obese?

    YES. This. All of this.
  2. I just ordered the cinnamon hot chocolate and the cocoa cereal from the BariatricPal store. Can't speak to the taste yet, though...

How long have you been obese?

I truly do still get very distressed when I see how big I am in the mirror. My brain sees me as tiny and that's how I think other people see me. It's going to be so amazing when the outside matches the inside!

    Surgery fears..

I had RNY. I had symptoms pretty much as soon as I got home from the hospital. Everything I ate or drank BURNED LIKE FIRE, even water. Two or three weeks later, after they realized it wasn't just "sensitivity", they did an endoscopy and found the ulcer. I was on a liquid medicine called Carafate for two months, four times a day, and Pepcid and Prilosec. It recently healed on its own. The hernia, I had no symptoms, but they saw it when I had to have my gallbladder removed on 1/5. I started having serioussss gallbladder symptoms 1.5 months out from surgery. Extreme nausea and dry-heaving. They didn't realize it was my gallbladder for about 3 weeks after I had symptoms begin. They sewed the hernia while doing the gallbladder.

  6. From what I understand, fluids alone can't stretch or damage anything. Liquids pass without restriction. Honestly, I get INSANELY thirsty sometimes and chug water and, yes, it hurts, but I seriously seriously need water at that time. It only hurts briefly for me, though, and I've only done this with water... so maybe other stuff causes the gasiness.
  7. The moral of my personal story is... don't let a chart rule your goals. Because when I was actually healthy, doctors said I was fat based on me being slightly into the overweight category and I let it ruin my life. Chances are if you went to a doc that didn't know you had gastric and you were just a few points into overweight, they'd say horribly negative things because that's just the perception these days about obesity and people who are overweight. I personally just want to look and feel good, and damn any stupid and misleading charts. Be proud of what you accomplish.

Just b*tching about January weight loss

That time of the month for a whole month. LOL. I have my 3 month appt. tomorrow and I cannot wait to complain to them in person. They love me. hahaha.
  9. Pardon me, 141 is technically overweight at the chart I just pulled up. I guess I was 141, if you want to mince it down to that. I was told that 140 was overweight. Every BMI chart I pull up is *slightly* different. And once I hit 135, doctors were warning me of my impending weight crisis. Once I hit 140, I was told I was overweight and needed to lose weight immediately, etc. 140, from what I experienced, was a terrible size for someone our height. Hence all the issues I described above.

    Let's talk poop.

Ammmggg the senna tea didn't work! I have really bad cramps, though. Halp! I am on Day 13 with only 1 micropoop. This won't stop happening! Taking Colace and Miralax, and have had the senna tea twice in 5 days.
  11. My doctor said I can expect to only get to around 160-170ish with the surgery alone (ex: NO exercise). That is still obese. I want to get to 140, which is still overweight according to the BMI, BUT when I was 140 I looked bangin' so that's my personal goal. I looked amazing at 140 and let the doctors put into my head that I was "soooooo fat" which led me into a depression and an eating disorder (I said screw it, I'm fat anyways so may as well eat), which ended up with me at 286lbs. I will never let the BMI chart rule my perception of myself ever again. I look back at those pics of me at 140 and it is depressing as hell that I thought so little of myself because "I was two points into overweight on the BMI chart". I had a six pack. I had hips and booty for days. Also the low end of the BMI chart for me is like... 110lbs. I would look like a friggin' bobble head. Also turned out I had 8lbs of excess breast tissue I had removed during a much-needed breast reduction so... the argument could be made I was really only 132. LOL. WOMP WOMP

Effects of Nutrient Deficiency on Skin

I started the Aczone about a week ago and it is making all of my acne bleed! And I am popping up with more. I think the erythromycin was better, even though it didn't do a whole lot. I'm *supposed* to give it 6-8 weeks though...

    Psych Meds

None of my medications changed post-op. My dose didn't go up from when I was 140lbs to 280lbs, either. The only thing I had them switch was my Ambien XR to the regular Ambien. But I took the extended release that I had left and it worked just fine. I take Ambien, Guanfacine, Lexapro, and Valium.

    Twin Peaks Protein Puffs

I think they're so gross. I've tried tons of different brands. Tastes like chewing on a brick of protein powder coated parmesan. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Twin Peaks Protein Puffs

I just ordered the mesquite bbq in these so we'll see. I hate the baked cheese protein chips. Tastes like eating a block of parmesan. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Minimal bowel movements after surgery

Check out my "let's talk poop" thread I just updated on here. 3 months out and still won't go for weeks unless I take an herbal stimulant.

    Let's talk poop.

Okay guys - update on this. lol. I am still unable to go to the bathroom. I take Colace 3 times a day. I was also taking Miralax but since the addition of it also didn't help and just upset my stomach the doctor said to just stop. The ONLY THING that makes me go is senna tea. If I don't drink my tea, I will not go... for weeks. Almost 3 weeks is my record, and then when I went it was a small amount. Yes, I've tried suppositories to no effect. When I drink the senna, I get explosive, pure liquid poos. It happens about 3 times and then I'm back to not going. The doctor said to go ahead and drink the tea every 3 days, but it is really difficult to manage at work, as you can imagine. Sometimes it just... comes out. So I do it once a week when I know I can manage the bathroom trips and accidents if there is one. I'm trying to figure out a way to have it twice a week. I was told never to take fiber because I had a hernia and the bulking effect can cause an obstruction where the new stitching is. I am really scared this is my new normal. Am I overreacting? Be honest. lol. I eat all foods now... salads, meats, some fruit..... it's not all purees and dairy anymore, lol. Still no improvement. The nurse said it *should* improve at 6 months post-op. I am 3 months. So maybe I AM overreacting. But it's disturbing to be reliant on this tea, and the effects of the tea itself. And also that even though I eat nothing happens. I DO NOT have gas or cramping or any sensation of constipation ever.
  19. I'm going to post my (almost) 3 month success. I have conquered a brutally painful post-op ulcer. A gallbladder removal where it had to be peeled off my liver from having embedded itself into it. And a hernia repair where my intestinal junction had started to separate. All in the last 2.5 months. I am healed up completely now (still a week from exercise post-gallbladder) and ON TRACK LIKE A NORMAL PATIENT. Suck it, unjust medical complications! And I am officially my lowest adult weight since 2013. 63lbs down since September. 53lbs down since 11/1 surgery. And that's my mini-success.
  20. My first appointment was June 4th and I had surgery November 1. I could have had it beginning of October, but I had work obligations. I have Highmark BCBS.

    ❤ JANUARY 2019 CHALLENGE ❤

#29 Honestly the only app I frequent is Baritastic. I love that app. My only frustration is that when I scan a food, chances are at least one of the macros are wrong, and they are still missing a lot of items. I am constantly sending in pics of nutrition labels for them to update their database. They should pay me.
  22. Did anyone develop gastroparesis post-op? If so, weave me your tale of symptoms and diagnosis. I am certain my ulcer has healed but I have been severely nauseous since 12/12. I dry-heave constantly. Sometimes it is about 1/2 hour to an hour after I eat... sometimes at random times. Mostly after I eat, and I am on full liquids (with occasional puree) so nothing insane is being digested. Sometimes even water does it to me. I am very careful about portions and eating slowly and properly. I read that the vagus nerve can be damaged post-op and gastroparesis can develop at any time. I am worried this is the case. I don't believe I have a stricture because no food ever comes back up and this happens only about 70% of the time after I eat (and it takes about an hour to set in)... the rest of the time it is random. This is just me spit-balling. I have an appointment on the 7th to go over all of this. But I am really nauseous virtually all day! It's borderline debilitating. The medicine for gastroparesis nausea, Compazine, is the only nausea med that remotely helps. Reglan for motility, also used for GP, has also helped, but knocks me out. lol.
  23. In my FB group, someone mentioned the need to occasionally shock your system, and people are recommending carbs or sweets. I have never been told this, and I stick to my plan 100%. Has anyone heard of the need to do this for any reason? To break a stall? It seems like cheating on this regimen is setting yourself for failure if you became overweight due to lack of control or moderation. I would never eat a brownie or cookie this early on - we are all 2-3 months out (or ever, unless it was bariatric friendly). Advice? Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

    shocking the system

I love the BP store so far. And FB is stalking me with "keto" alternatives that work. Ah, FB stalky ads. In my mind.

    shocking the system

Some people just like to argue for the sake of arguing. Just answer my question and move on, I mean JEEZUUS. It's a forum not a dog and pony show. Anyways, I got my question answered. Peace out. lmao.
