Good afternoon, my name is Mousecat and I am a cat addict. I live alone and I just have to give a public forum shoutout to my two kitties for being my crutch through all the post-op BS (and life BS in general). I have an (almost) 10 year old boy named Mouse who I rescued from a Baltimore City shelter at 8 weeks. He was very sickly and I nursed him to health. He has been everywhere with me and is my rock. My other boy is Nugget who is a year and a half and I found him in my mom's backyard at 3 weeks old and bottlefed. He had a number of near-death scares and I am embarrassed to say how much $$ I spent keeping him alive. He is my goofy boy. I just don't know what I would do without them. Mouse know when I am sad or sick and will be glued to me the whole time. Nugget is a derp and makes my home joyful. Any special fur kids in your life? I am so grateful for their furry little existence.

baingam masala. the only indian food i am 100% sure i can eat (sans flour, sans potato, sans wheat) at this point. lmao. SO good though. eggplant, tomato, onions and spices. indian is my favorite food but every chef makes their sauces differently! Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -
I've noticed a bunch of people's stats lately and many of them show 100lbs or more down in under a year. (Most have starting weights around 300 or less). Is this typical? YES I AM COMPARING MYSELF TO OTHER PEOPLE. INB4 SOMEONE COMMENTS THAT I SHOULDN'T. lol. I feel like it's an impossible ways away!

magnesium citrate. extreme pain. help.
mousecat88 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On recommendation from the bariatric nurse, I drank some magnesium citrate because I had not had a bowel movement in 14 days. I cannot truly explain the pain I experienced. I thought my stomach had ruptured and considered calling 911. It felt like an open flame was held to my stomach. It's been well over an hour and while the pain has dissipated some, I am still in pain. Can anyone recommend anything to soothe this? The office is closed and I don't think it justifies an emergency visit. Has anyone experienced this? This was definitely in the top 3 most painful things I've experienced in my life. On the upside... I did use the bathroom, profusely. I did spit up a lot of saliva and vomited a very, very small amount of the laxative almost immediately. Now I'm just laying down. Water and dairy isn't doing much to quell the burning. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -

14 hours later and the M.o.M. worked! The bottle says within 6 hours... well, it took 14 but I am okay with that. So much smoother than the liquid magcitrate and no painful side effects. Thank Jeebus!!!! -

I can taste it 100% if mixed in cold stuff. I heat it up with hot tea now... dissolves much better and the tea masks the "imaginary" flavor. -
Eating Alternative
mousecat88 replied to Jazzy1125's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know your pain, as you've probably seen in my numerous posts about this (including the one right below this one about mag citrate). I AM eating salads, etc, and it still isn't helping. Miralax does nothing for me. And neither does anything else. I'm about to give up and just poop every 3 weeks or whenever my body feels like it. =/ Very frustrating. Methadone and Gastric Bypass

Vivitrol is the go-to now; I'd see if I could try that instead - the pill form. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Phentermine worked for ne initially but I thankfully randomly checked my hr at CVS and it was 165 AT REST. I was immediately pulled off it. The second time I took it it didn't help at all. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

My mom said the same thing... they got my money and now they don't care about the follow up. They should have brought someone else on board to handle post-op patients. I feel like it is irresponsible of them to perform this type of surgery and then drop off all support. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

I really just wanna talk to a dieitian. I've taken some random advice from people on FB and here and I ended up gaining some weight. I printed out the last 2 full months of daily food logs and emailed them to the dieitian for my appt. on Wednesday. I hope she can help. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

magnesium citrate. extreme pain. help.
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's been 6 days since my magcitrate horrorshow and I haven't used the bathroom since. I've since been diligent with my 3x day Colace, 1x day Miralax, and added in a mag citrate pill in the evenings. Took some milk of magnesia about 6 hours ago to no effect. I've tried everything. I give up! Not sure if it's safe to take senna AND milk of mag the same day? I gotta get something movin'. I think this may be the most annoying thing to deal with. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Can I afford the post-op diet?
mousecat88 replied to sheslittletex's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I save hundreds a month simply from not ordering food or going out to eat. And food costs are also down because I only need 5 bites of something. Definitely a plus on the pros and cons list of the surgery. -
I bought a 3 pack of cotton sports bras with zero support from Walmart for like 7$. That's what I will be wearing until ???? lol. I'm not shelling out any cash for real bras until this has all plateu'd Way too expensive. I'll just be a droopy mess until then. *shrug*

Surgery In 2.5 Weeks and I Haven't Told Husband Yet...
mousecat88 replied to Boldilocks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lord I need an update on this. O_O Congrats and God bless for going through with this surgery and doing what you know is best for you! -
My hair loss started like 2 weeks after surgery! I'm a little over 3 months now and it is like cobwebs of hair coming out in the shower. Ugh. I was told around 6 months+ the hormones will start evening out and all that, but everyone is different. I'm taking a keratin supplement for the heck of it but that does nothing. I also have insane explosive acne now and spotting even though I have an IUD and haven't had a period in 5 years. I can't wait for my estrogen, etc, to chillllll.

magnesium citrate. extreme pain. help.
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I sent a message to the nurse this morning like WTFFFFFFF. And he said he didn't know magcitrate was carbonated and had never been told by anyone it hurt them before. UHHHH. Yeah dude. He recommended I take Milk of Mag or the MagCitrate pills next time. Smh. I asked about Milk of Mag in the office and he said to do MagCitrate. Yeah, never again. Today it feels like I was punched in the gut still. -
excess skin after surgery....

My insurance will pay for a tummy tuck if there's pics of irritation sent in. They won't pay for anything else. BUT plastic surgeons do give deep discounts. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -
magnesium citrate. extreme pain. help.
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg it was so awful. It's been 2 hours and it still hurts. I take Colace 3 times a day and Miralax daily. At Day 6 I am told to try suppositories, which don't work. Senna tea USUALLY does the trick, but didn't this time; I drank it twice. Leading me to here... curled up in a ball wishing for a swift death. Why the hell would he recommend something that was carbonated like that!? I noticed a small amount of fizz but figured it was okay since he said it was. Got 5 oz down. NEVER.AGAIN. I am peeing from the wrong place now. TMI. Do you think mineral oil is okay? I am eating roughage now, too. My water is good for where I'm at... about 60 to 70oz a day and increasing. I was told no fiber since I had the hernia repair. I am still shook over what I just experienced. -
Yeah, only lost 5lbs in January and I am only 3 months out. Where's this "rapid weight loss period" everyone talks about? PFTTT. a n g e r y Actually randomly gained 3 lbs so my ticker isn't even correct.

On the 5th I had my gallbladder out and a hernia repaired. My surgeon said I can start lifting (light) and doing some core exercises this week or next. I am still sore on my right side where my incisions are so I am waiting another week to be safe. However, my coworker has had multiple hernia repairs and she said that that area will always be weak and at risk for herniating again. My surgeon didn't tell me this, but sometimes they don't think of some things. Is it safe to do weight lifting and core exercises when you've had hernias? I love circuit/strength training and especially core work (since it's my strongest area, lol) and I will be crushed if I can't do that stuff.
