Pumping Stomach full of air?
mousecat88 replied to april042019's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Just an FYI - I had ZERO gas pain after surgery and passed no gas at all. The surgeon took extra time removing as much air as he possibly could. I never understood the gas pain thing people talk about. So it may not happen to you, either. -
I am in desperate need of a non-stim energy booster for pre-workout. I am persistently tired (I've been this way my whole life, nothing new).... and going to the gym is a waking nightmare (although I suck it up and do it). Looking for some supplements or non-stim weight loss/metabolism boosters + energy boosters to take pre-workout. I can't take any stimulants because I have bad anxiety and even a cup of tea makes me feel like I am having a panic attack, lol. I am really overwhelmed by all of the options on Amazon. I currently take the following vitamins/supplements: Thyronine (T2), chia seed extract, vitamin e, calcium, keratin, vitamin d, super b complex, iron, bariatric multi, and magnesium citrate. I do have some green tea extract on the way.

Pre-Workout Non-Stim Energy ... stuff.
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I see someone asked my exact question.. lol... Is this decaffeinated green tea? Green tea naturally containans 25mg of caffeine per 8oz so I'm concerned about the stimulant effect of this item. Answer: We understand the concern, but the Signature Green Tea should be fine as there is no caffeine with this. It is a non stimulant. -
Pre-Workout Non-Stim Energy ... stuff.
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Honestly, I have been tired my entire life. I used to be 140lbs and was always exhausted then. Just... permanently zapped of energy. Carbs, no carbs. Nothing helps. I ordered the green tea extract because they all say "non-stimulant", but I guess they meant not an artificial stimulant? I don't know. I'm going to take ONE and see if it makes me panic. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C2TPQ21/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 That's what I ordered. It legit says stimulant free on it, which doesn't really make sense? I know there's like creatine and arginine, etc. Didn't know if those do much of anything. -
A Lotta Brachioplasty Questions
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thank you! Your pics look wonderful! I won't mind a scar at all, even if it looked like the first photo.... still 100000 times better than my arms now! -
I could only drink warm/hot water for 2 months. Cold water was very painful.

25) My biggest fear is losing my mother. She is my rock and I don't know how I'd live without her. My biggest fear re: WLS is regaining.

Steroids are awful. I was on them for a respiratory infection and gained 30lbs and developed a fatty buffalo hump on the back of my neck I had surgically removed. I tell doctors I am allergic to them so I don't get prescribed them ever again. Even though they worked fabulously on my arthritis.

I don't have the complications anymore, but my gripe is that I am not sure the complications I went through were worth the amount of weight I've lost so far. You never know if you're going to be "the one" that gets the short end of the stick. My surgeons assured me that I was "so young and healthy and everything would go perfect" and it was nonstop crap for the last 4+ months. I just hope it's over with now. I may feel differently if I hit my goal weight... people tend to forget the horribleness as time passes. But right now it's still fresh and I am slightly bitter. lol. I guess I am irritated because a) my first surgeon told me I would "definitely" get to 125 within a year and then he retired and my new surgeon said that was impossible and the surgery would "stop helping" once I hit 160-170 (I was told this AFTER I had the surgery) and b) I was told nonstop that "everything would be fine because I was so young, blahblahblah" that I naively believed it.

Why is ibuprofen a no no?
mousecat88 replied to polly...'s topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
I have arthritis and was prescribed Diclofenac Topical. It is an NSAID but my surgeon said it was fine and won't cause ulcers since it is topical. I've been using it for the last 2 months and it actually works, to my surprise. Prescription only. Just put some on my ankle and knee just now, actually. Tylenol does absolutely nothing and I hurt so bad after working out, I wouldn't be able to exercise with the topical. -
I was on Zofran, Phenergan, Scopolamine, Nexium, and Pepcid simultaneously. lol. My nausea and all that has resolved - turns out it was my gallbladder. They wouldn't do the sleeve on me because I had severe acid reflux prior to surgery and the sleeve makes that worse, so bypass was the only option given to me. I didn't want sleeve though because something about them physically removing and tossing part of your stomach in the trash creeps me out. lmao. I only had severe dumping once about 3 weeks out when I had some condensed soup. When I drink anything with whey in it I get really hot and nauseous for about an hour, but it's not unbearable.

Hey - I know I caught a bunch of flak on here for having a "food funeral", but I have NO REGRETS. I was supposed to be on a 16 day diet with one meal a day and 3 shakes, and I definitely crushed fast food and pasta, etc, on a few of those days as a final farewell. And I am glad I did. My liver was normal size, though, so I didn't need any "liver shrinking" to happen and no one was any the wiser I had *cheated*. I knew I was about to make a dedication to never have those items again in my entire life (something I will absolutely stick to), so I wasn't about to let my last chance to pass me by.

It is reversible if there are serious complications, such as ulcers on the outside of the pouch, malnutrition, or chronic marginal ulcers. The surgery to reverse is very dangerous, so they only do it if you have persistent complications. They basically disassemble everything they took apart and sew you back to normal again. The second link below has pics of the new "whole stomach" again. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22810420 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4196428/

Yipes. I was told no exercise for 6 weeks. I would just start off walking 15 minutes at a time, twice a day. I wasn't cleared for anything more intense than walking/jogging until 12 weeks. If you're still having pain, I wouldn't start exercise yet - let your body heal. Diet is the most important; you can incorporate much more exercise in a few weeks.

Aw, I missed this entirely. lol. Biggest victory in my entire LIFE? I would say purchasing my own home at 26 after struggling to find work for 3 years. It was a very victorious moment. Biggest victory since WLS? Not eating Taco Bell in 5 months. lolol truuuuue facts.

My surgeon prescribed me Potassium after surgery that was a gigantic horse pill. Probably the largest pill I've ever seen... and now I take numerous vitamins and supplements that are far larger than an M&M... no issues whatsoever?
-
I've tried Kratom numerous times and it does absolutely nothing for me. But I don't know why you wouldn't be able to take it after bypass, particularly as a tea. Just start with a smaller dose than you usually take and work from there. The DEA is trying to make it scheduled, though, so those days may be running out.

Take it off! Take it off! Take it aaaaallll off!
mousecat88 replied to MarieR's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had massive full body liposuction in 2009 (12K worth of lipo alone) and wore upper and lower compression garments for several weeks. I fully concur with getting at least one second set of garments, maybe even a third.... because they will get gross and stinky pretty fast. =p -
Seriously, I hate working out. SO I hired a trainer. That way a) I am spending money so I don't want to waste it, 2) I have an obligation to someone other than myself and 3) I have someone on my ass and motivating me the whole time I am there... which is what I need. If I didn't have the trainer, I would probably never go. I have had 6 sessions so far over the last 3 weeks and it is great having him there. I go STRAIGHT from work because if I go home, that's the end of me. I am tired going there and tired leaving, but it has to be done. Maybe invest in a personal trainer to get you started. I pay $35 per session.

I would just say do it if you're having health problems from obesity, not just out of vanity. I pretty much did it out of vanity - I didn't have any obesity-related conditions except, supposedly, pseudotumor, which now some docs are saying I never even had (???!!!) But if it's something that will help fix some problems in your life, go for it. Things are easier... I can sit in chairs better and forcing myself to exercise has made me not hate having to park at the far end of the parking lot, etc. lol. But I dunno... ask me 64lbs from now and I'll tell you if it was worth it. lol. Someone I know purposely gained weight to have the surgery. Now a month later she is down to the weight she was before she had surgery. It's absurdddd. Definitely shouldn't have passed the psych eval, imo.
-
I just feel discouraged because I am impatient and have 64 more lbs to lose and don't feel like it's going to happen. And I will be super disappointed if it doesn't. Especially after all the BS.

I was supposed to pay $300 upfront but they forgot when I went to the START Clinic and I didn't care to mention it.

Embrace the Stall
mousecat88 replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I stalled for 8 weeks just 3 months out from surgery and boom, down 18lbs in the last month. So... I just need to learn to stop checking the scale, basically. They did start to get concerned at my doctor's office about the length of the stall but... I guess we're all different. -
My plan has me adding in complex carbs at 8 months out; I am 4.5 months out. However, because I am doing fairly intense exercise with a trainer, both my dietitian and the trainer have recommended I go from the 40g-ish of carbs I am eating now to 100g of carbs by adding in the complex carbs now. I AM SO TERRIFIED. lol. I have kept this stuff out of my house for the last 5 months because I KNOW they are my vice. My trainer suggested I start with just 2 tablespoons of whole wheat pasta a day. I am super scared that I don't have the self-control not to stop eating my high-protein stuff, which took me a long time to even get on board with, and replace it with ALLLL THE CARBBBSS. I honestly don't feel like I am quite mentally ready to go there yet. If I keep it out of my house and out of my mouth, I don't have the cravings and don't have the easy access to it. I am very nervous! My trainer explained the whole "carbs aren't the enemy, excess carbs are - you need carbs to fuel your body along with protein" speech, but I have this major psychological block about buying bread and pasta and sweet potatoes, etc. Out of sight, out of mind. Any advice to overcome this? I know myself and I know that, in the past anyways, I was easily led astray and I do not want that to happen again. Not after all the work I've put into this so far.
