    ❤MARCH 2019 CHALLENGE❤

    28. A silver lining in one of my disappointments... hmmm.. all of my exes have taught me what I DON'T want in a relationship. lol.

    Non-dairy Protein Powder

NowSports Soy Protein Isolate. Best on the market.

    Protein

Vegetarians that eat dairy and eggs are lacto-ovo vegetarians. Pescatarians eat fish. "Regular" vegetarians eat no animal product. Vegans eat no animal product and refrain from purchasing any clothes, etc, that have animal in them (leather, suede, etc). I don't eat much meat anymore simply because my tummy doesn't handle it well, and I use soy shakes. I have become an involuntary lacto-ovo vegetarian essentially. haha. But I still get 80g or so of protein a day.
  4. I have the same idea. I want something on my inner arm post-arm lift to cover some of the scar and it'll be weight loss related somehow. Not sure exactly what yet, though.

    ❤MARCH 2019 CHALLENGE❤

27! Biggest goal for upcoming year: WLS-related - get close enough to goal weight to be able to schedule brachioplasty; Regular life related- Finish several major home improvement projects
  6. Can anyone provide some links to some lenders they've used to take out loans for cosmetic surgery? Anyone easy to work with? I have 10K on CareCredit so I am going to use that up first if I can... but the hospital I go to doesn't accept CareCredit (just the surgeon), but I'm sure the procedures will well exceed that. Did anyone use home equity? Can you even use those for anything?

    ❤MARCH 2019 CHALLENGE❤

    26. Looking back on my past and realizing that I turned out just fine despite the hardships. Also reflecting on my strength and independence. With WLS, not succumbing to any cravings and staying on track and killin' it.
  8. They sell water weights you can use in the pool. You hold them at the surface of the water and push down, adding resistance. I have arthritis, too, and used to do pool-only exercise. There's a bunch of different types of water weights you can get. My rheumatologist told me to only walk on grass/dirt instead of concrete because it is lower impact on the knees. I've started doing *hard* workouts at the gym and my joints hurt very badly, but we don't have a pool here.
  9. I can't drink whey at all - it makes me very nauseous and I get flushed and hot. But I can eat cottage cheese/yogurt just fine. I love NowSports Soy Protein Isolate - sold on Amazon. Unfortunately there's not a lot of good tasting alternatives that aren't whey. NowSports is really the only one I've found that tastes good - after spending $$$$ trying tons of different brands of egg, pea, rice, and fish/beef proteins. MRE Lite is pure animal protein (like salmon/beef) and their dutch apple pie is okay.

    Vegan protein powder

Unjury has a vegan pea protein. Just be sure if you use pea protein you buy a bottle of supplemental amino acids, because they typically don't have them in the shake mix. (Unjury sells those, too). There is also rice protein on Amazon. Do not recommend though. LOL. I use https://www.amazon.com/Sports-Protein-Isolate-Chocolate-2-Pound/dp/B001DNV53E/ref=sr_1_11?keywords=soy+protein&qid=1553623000&s=gateway&sr=8-11 Totally delicious - not sure if vegan or vegetarian though? I think it's totally vegan.

    It was NOT gas pain.

Good grief! Glad you got there in time that nothing *more* severe happened. Get well!
  12. mousecat88

    Yup. I regret this.

When are you not in a feisty mood? =p

    reasons for insurance to deny?

Don't worry! I am fortunate my insurance turned around the approval within 3-4 days, but those 4 days were scary and nerve-wracking. And for no reason. Insurances I think are getting the hint that it's better to pay for this surgery than to pay for years of prescriptions and doctor visits, etc.

    Surgery Day Tomorrow Mar 27th

Good luck! You'll do great! I woke up with some pain in the recovery area that lasted an hour and then just totally disappeared. Was in the hospital 2 nights, no issues. Didn't sleep much, but didn't have ANY gas pain. Shockingly painless surgery. Bring pajamas so you don't have to wear a gown the whole time. And a hairbrush. They gave me a toothbrush and deodorant and stuff. Also don't forget a cellphone charger.

    Any regrets with RNY?

i know i literally just posted a "yup. i regret this." thread about 3 weeks ago - but it was more out of frustration over the complications i had. i am anxious to lose another 60lbs. i hope i get there. i could be the most impatient person in this entire forum, lol. now that things seem to be normalizing as far as not having stupid issues, i don't feel so bad about it. i am glad i've lost what i have so far. i didn't have any support either. and when i was going through the complications, my mother was like "i told you so". i picked gastric bypass because i wanted the absorption and dumping; i wanted the negative reinforcements to eat correctly. and also i had acid reflux and sleeve makes that worse, usually. i know several people who had the surgery who regained the weight because they could somehow eat whatever they wanted without consequence. fortunately that doesn't happen to me (yet). if you don't ever put that food in your mouth after surgery, you'll never know if it will make you sick or not, so it's best not to even try. my boss has regained 40lbs and eats mounds of mac n cheese and pizza and donuts, etc. he had surgery 6 years ago. my coworker's daughter-in-law can eat whatever she wants and regained her entire weight lost (100lbs). it's just a tool, not a cure. but i firmly believe if you don't test your limits, you won't have an issue. why risk it.

    Feeling like utter crap

I have to look for a non-stim (non-caffeine) preworkout, because all of those stims mess with my anxiety and stomach really bad. There's a bunch of options on Amazon. Make an appointment with a dietitian outside of your practice if they suck that bad. Maybe hire a trainer; they are usually familiar with dietary needs.

    A Lotta Brachioplasty Questions

Wow! Totally amazing! I am so psyched for this. It's been my dreeeeaaammm to have my arms done, even long before I even considered WLS. Basically for the last 16 years.

    Loss Reports

    Highest weight: 286lbs Surgery weight: 276lbs (11/1/18) Today's weight: 202lbs
  19. Well that's a good thing! When I had my gallbladder out in January, a few incision sites were very sore when I laid on them and then for a few days. If it doesn't get better in a few days, call your surgeon. Take it easy, chica.
  20. It's likely just muscle pain. If the incision site is red or warm, that could be a sign of infection.
  21. I am *almost* 5 months out and in the past month have started getting my hunger sensation back. But it only takes a tiny amount of food to make it go away.

    Pre op IV question!

My surgery was delayed 45 minutes because no one could find the vein. They even had the vein finder out and called in the vascular team. My veins are very very thin and extremely deep. It usually takes up to 9 times for a phlebotomist to draw blood - I made one nurse cry once because she just felt bad (I think she was a bit crazy though). But nothing anyone can do about it.... has to get in some way.

    Rumbling in the tummy

Maybe try 5 smaller meals a day?
  24. I actually felt the opposite about this forum - no one talked about complications and I thought everything would be rosy. lol. I guess it's all subjective. That's why I was so bent when **** happened to me, because it seemed like NO ONE else on here had anything going on. People should hear both sides to the story, for sure, though.
