Whey makes me vomit. Try soy shakes. They have delicious chocolate and vanilla ones on Amazon. -
Is Weight Loss Surgery for Me?
mousecat88 replied to gch81kb's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was told the same thing. Developed a marginal ulcer a week out from surgery, then my gallbladder went 4 weeks later and they found a hernia while they were in there. Took 4 months to heal up. But now that it's over with, I am happy. But I was REALLY remorseful in the beginning because I am young and was told everything would go great because I was healthy. -
Yes! It's great! I will be perusing the store today and adding things! THANK YOU!! (I've already shared the news with some fellow shoppers who had wanted the same function added and they are thrilled, too!)

Maybe I'm just not seeing it, but there should really be a wishlist for the BP store so every time we log in to buy stuff we don't have to keep searching for it, especially when the items we want are out of stock. It would be nice to add our favorite items to a list and just be able to go to that list and pick out the things we want for a particular order instead of scrolling through past orders or trying to find it again. Like a "favorites" button or something like Amazon's wishlist.

how has surgery impacted your hunger?
mousecat88 replied to Zemi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I wasn't hungry at first but it came back with avengeance at 4 months or so. I get hungry often but it doesn't take much to satisfy it. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -
I bought some shorts for the gym today. I haven't worn shorts since I was 8 years old. I have had body image issues since I was that young, even though I wasn't overweight til I was 21. I have a LOT of hanging skin now around my knees and inner thighs from the weight loss. I am kinda embarassed to wear them. =/ I want to overcome my embarrassment and just do it. It's gunna be really hard! I was lifting weights the other day and was in front of a mirror and noticed my arms (which I plan on chopping in November) and now I am avoiding mirrors at the gym. Learning not to give a f**k is the hardest part of all this, for sure. For me anyways. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

Return to Work after Surgery
mousecat88 replied to JerseyNJ's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was off 2.5 weeks but then developed an ulcer and needed some time off for the endoscopy. And then I almost immediately had my gallbladder go, and needed another 2 weeks off from that. O__O Fill out an FMLA form just in case. -
Is Weight Loss Surgery for Me?
mousecat88 replied to gch81kb's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I will just bluntly say that I would not have major surgery that reroutes major organs and permanently affects the way you eat if I had "only" 40lbs to lose and was losing on my own. I "only" have 44lbs left to lose and I realize it seems like a lot, but in the grand scheme of things... it isn't... not if you're on a path to losing it already. I would consider this surgery only for individuals who are severely morbidly obese and have not had any success at making permanent lifestyle changes without the drastic kick in the ass that is this procedure. I would sincerely evaluate whether you feel you can make these lifestyle changes without surgery. If you truly feel you can't, then have the surgery. -
Almost 2 months pos-op, can't keep certain foods down
mousecat88 replied to Ellf's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I think that's normal. I am 6+ months post-op and I can't tolerate most fish and oftentimes chicken. I primarily eat turkey or beef now. -
😜😜stomach pain..is it really just acid??😜😜
mousecat88 replied to Tracydawn's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You shouldn't have any acid pain after bypass. Your symptoms youre describing sound just like when I had an ulcer. It hurt even when I drank water. Like a fire that stabbed me, lol. Be forceful and demand an endoscopy. My pain developed a week or so out from surgery. -
My trainer's birthday is Monday. He is turning 47. I love him; he has been my only true "real life" support and motivation. He has taught me so much, not just about exercise, but about how to accept myself the way I am. He is always so encouraging and gets so psyched to see when I succeed and it makes me feel just awesome. It's something I've never had before in my life. He is my therapist and my rock. I'd like to get him a birthday gift but I have no clue. He expects me to be snarky and sarcastic, lol, so something along those lines. He is a powerlifter and likes the mountains and hunting. Anyone have any ideas? Would it be weird to get him something? I'm definitely going to write him a thank you note later on in "my journey". Something amusingly cynical would be great. lol Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

Six Month Post-Op Then and Now

I set my goal weight because I was 140 in 2010 and I feel like I looked healthy then. -
A total lower body lift does butt, tummy, legs, and hips all at the same time. I'm shooting for that in 2020. Consult in August... Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

I have Highmark BCBS. They pay for a tummy tuck if you have in your notes you are getting rashes from loose skin. I don't need the muscle tightening. I have an appointment tomorrow to sign my initial docs for the equity loan and the appraiser will be out in 2 weeks or so. I called my plastic surgeon and I'm going to schedule a consult for the end of August for a brachioplasty for November, and a complete lower body lift next Spring. I don't think I'm even going to bother with insurance. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

I serioussllyy hate cardio, but I was really shocked that I enjoyed the class. Except now that the day has gone on, it feels like I have... chafing in places that should never chafe. LOL. I recommend trying it! Don't wear crappy shoes.... And put sponges in your underwear. lolol. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

As a chronic water chugger, I will tell you that while it won't do any harm, taking very large gulps or chugging will be painful. Try to take small sips throughout the day. Can you not have a water bottle on your desk? Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

Do you ever feel you are losing too fast?
mousecat88 replied to Emma2.0's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I lost 55 or so in the first 8 weeks. Then nothing at all for the next 8. Now I am losing 2 per week. It will slow down. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Bypass v’s Sleeve..... help!
mousecat88 replied to MinnieSD's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I knew I wanted bypass because it has the malabsorption component and the deterrence of dumping syndrome. My sleeve friend can still eat whatever carbs/sugar he wants and not risk feeling ill. I like having the negative reinforcement to deter me from straying. Also... acid reflux. Totally gone since bypass, but can get really bad with the sleeve. So, I went through a period, as some may recall, where I didn't go for 17 days. Now I take 2 Colace a day and a mag citrate pill. But then on the weekends I take a full dose of Milk of Magnesia and it seriousssslllyyy cleans me out over the next 12-24 hours. Like, disturbingly. I won't go into graphic detail. That's also the time I drop weight during the week and see the scale move. I asked my surgeon if it was okay to continue taking Milk of Mag indefinitely and he said once a week is fine and will not cause any physical reliance on laxatives. But I feel like I REALLY look forward to the weekend when I can take it because I seriously drop 2lbs afterwards, and that's pretty much how it's been going the last 5 months. No real weight loss during the week, take that laxative, and then I drop weight. And thus far that weight has stayed off so I don't know the correlation really because if I was just expelling water I wouldn't be losing inches, so I must be for real losing weight, too... obviously. Anyway, I sort of feel like I may be becoming MENTALLY dependent on laxatives as a "boost" to losing weight. Has anyone experienced this? I am apparently not physically reliant on them. I would probably go at least twice a week without the MoM on the weekend, but I feel like I HAVE to to lose weight every week. Is this a weird transfer addiction??? O_o I feel like if I didn't know my bowels would basically stop working if I took MoM every single day, I probably would. But from what I understand, laxatives don't cause weight loss... just water loss. But why does the scale drop and NOT go back up after I use them?

Laxative "transfer addiction"?
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
That makes sense. I don't want to get in the mindset that laxatives = weight loss. -
Insurance pays for tummy if you have rashes, but by 18 months out (when they would pay), I imagine my stomach will be pretty much flat, but I want a tummy tuck anyways to get a bit more tightness. It may be a mini tummy tuck. I don't know much about the inner thigh work. I never hear much about people having that done. My "plan" is brachioplasty in November, tummy tuck May 2020, and then butt/legs December 2020.

I find this to probably be the most challenging thing for me. Probably because I always have a drink at my desk at work, but also have my breakfast and 2 snacks at work so sometimes I drink something and then it's snack time and I don't even think about it. I do make sure I get a drink when I go out to eat though because I made the GRAVE error of getting old bay wings and then starting friggin' choking on the spice in the back of my throat and desperately needed a sip, but hadn't gotten even a water. So. Yeah. It's good to have on hand in event of choking. LOL. I also eat A LOT of hot sauce and sometimes a small sip is absolutely required because of the sheer burning in your mouth. I need to start the timer thing for real, though, for work occasions.

Did your surgeon want you to lose weight before you got surgery
mousecat88 replied to Summer56's topic in The Gals' Room
Mine said I could if I wanted to, but it wasn't a big deal. I actually gained a little, whoops.
