    Spinning Lessons.

So I decided maybe a class would get me going with cardio. I took spinning for the first time yesterday. It was my first time on actual bike pedals since I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in 2014. I wore the most flimsy, thin-soled, circuit training shoes I had... not knowing. GOOD LAWD. I wasn't able to stand up on the pedals much because the pain was excruciating! I haven't had any pain in that foot since about 2017 so I had forgotten about it. The class itself was awesome and I am going to do it every Wednesday. But I went home and immediately ordered firm-soled cycling shoes and..... BUTT PADDED UNDERWEAR! I have bruises on bones in places I didn't even know existed. lmao. So now I have a trainer twice a week, spinning once a week, and yoga once a week. Woooooots
  2. My orthostatic hypotension is really bad. Like preventing me from doing my favorite exercises and I lose vision/get super dizzy almost every time I stand. Since my bariatric office was just like "hopefully it'll get better some day", I went to my primary care yesterday and was prescribed Midodrine to raise my BP. I've only taken two doses, but from what I understand it doesn't build up in your system... it wears off after about 3-4 hours so I have to take it 3 times per day and keep a log of my BP. I don't seem to have any side effects other than it's making my head feel REALLY tingling, like when you lose circulation in your foot or something... but "the internet" says that's a common side effect. Has anyone taken this medicine? Did it help? Do you taper off eventually or did you need it foreverrrrr? It wasn't the cheapest of my meds. =/ I tried adding salt and doing leg flexing, etc, before standing but that didn't help at all... so now I'm at the prescription option. I'm currently sitting at my desk and rapidly standing up every so often to see if it's helping and it is. LOL. My coworker is like... wtf are you doing.... hahaha.

    Spinning Lessons.

I go to spinning 3 times a week now! I bought the cycling shoes for my second class. I have plantar fasciitis and my foot was in so much pain using regular gym shoes that they were necessary; now I have no pain. I also don't use the butt pads anymore. lol. I just have perma-sore-booty. *shrug* Love it.

    June 2019 challenge

Day 26: YES. That needs to be the mantra of the day because I have been SO STRESSED the last week over a company that stole 3K from me and now I am going through a ridiculous dispute with the BBB, my credit card, and the AG's office. My eyelid has been twitching for SIX DAYYYSSS. Will it ever stop? lol. Anxiety explosion. WOOSA

    Smoking Post-Op

I am still really struggling with this. I have NEVER EVER had an addiction issue with cigs. Ever. But now I am even freaking out during the work day because I want to go out to smoke. Or if I run out of cigs I HAVE to hop in my car to get some. And I think it is starting to cause problems because every time I smoke my stomach BURNS like it did when I had an ulcer. But when I eat/drink, it's fine. But I still haven't been able to let it go. Has anyone tried Chantix? I am scared because I take SSRIs and anxiety meds and I have heard the stories about Chantix making people depressed/suicidal.

    Seafood

I used to be able to tolerate fish at first but now I can't anymore, unless it is super moist salmon. But shrimp and scallops are awesome. About 4 or 5 shrimp is all I can manage.
  7. I am so excited! I have an appointment Monday with my bank to take out a home equity loan for my future plastics. Interest rates are around 5% now which is so much lower than the medical loans I've seen. How did you finance your plastics? I think my equity is only going to be about 20k, so I may have to supplement with other sources of funding. I have CareCredit up to 13K (I believe), but once the deferment period is over, the interest rate is crazy high. Going to see what my house appraises at and take out the equity loan and sit on it until November when I start the cosmetic journey.

    HELOC for Plastics

My appraisal came in today and I got a $40,000 line of credit to use towards plastic surgery!! The line of credit is open for 10 years and is at market rate interest, but currently just 5%!! I AM SO EXCITEEEDDDD. I have moneyyyy!! lmao.

Bariatric surgery was a big mistake

Right?!? I don't even WANT to put rice/pasta/bread in my mouth. Those were my vices and I don't need them in my life. I can't eat fish, either, and pretty much can only handle turkey as far as meat goes. It's really hit or miss with meat. WHO CARES. Food is fuel, nothing else. I really think OP is a troll. The things s/he was complaining about are extremely obvious things that anyone having bariatric surgery certainly would know. I can't conceive of her not knowing the limitations. Everyone drinks water, lol. And there is ALWAYS SOMETHING you can eat virtually anywhere. I've never had a problem. I even went to Christmas dinner less than 2 months out from surgery and managed to have some shrimp dip and a few green beans. With my gym supplements, I take about 20 supplements a day and I am more than happy to the rest of my life because I feel a heck of a lot better being 120lbs smaller.
  10. I was supposed to be on it for 6 months but my gallbladder crapped out on me anyways after 3 months and I had to have it removed. Sigh.

    High BMI

My BMI was 50 when I started and now it's down to 30 in less than 8 months. I wear a size 10/12 now and started at a 22/24. Still have another 30lbs to go, but I already exceeded the expected weight loss from my surgeon. They said I'd lose 65% of my excess and I'm at 75%-ish. I plan on losing all 100%!

    Orthostatic Hypotension

Tell me about it! I think I'm going to see my primary care about Midodrine. I have GOT to raise my BP! Salt doesn't help. It's really scary feeling so woozy and losing vision so often. My trainer is concerned because I'll be doing something and then get like this thousand yard stare and confusion for a moment and then I'm fine again. 13. I want to go to the plastic surgeon that did my breast reduction because he did an awesome job and is 30 min away. My bariatric office said I should see someone that focuses on bariatric patients and skin removal, and referred me to someone 2 hours away (longer during rush-hour - DC traffic UGH). I tried calling them twice and no one calls back, which is VERY discouraging. Also, after every surgery I've had (including the two plastics), I've had complications. I don't want to have to drive 2 hours for check-ups and emergencies??? I called several other plastic surgeons a bit closer and none do arm lifts, EXCEPT my plastic surgeon. My bariatric office says they like my guy personally, but his interest is on breast reconstruction so they refer people to this other person who is far away. I haven't consulted yet with my guy, but his office says that yes, they do them. Does it truly matter if I go to a "specialist" surgeon? The distance is very scary to me, given my history... and I already know my guy does awesome work. Did you go to someone that focuses on bariatric patients?

    Orthostatic Hypotension

Unf. The last 2 weeks I have been losing my vision nearly every single time I stand up. I also get very confused for a moment, occasionally. It's affecting my ability to exercise at the intensity I am at (and otherwise ready for). I stand up from the sofa, slowly, to walk to the kitchen, lose my vision and stand totally still, then as it's coming back slowly edge my way towards the counter to hold on for a moment until the blood rushes back to where it's supposed to be. lol. I messaged my doctor about this and he's just like "hopefully it will eventually get better". O__O OKAY

    regret not doing this sooner

I regret not having this surgery at a lower weight, like 230. I would be at my goal by now. My coworker's niece had the surgery in February at 215 and is already like 10lbs from her goal weight. I have gotten a lot better at not comparing myself to others' progress, but seeing how quick "lighter" WLS patients have hit their goals makes me feel sad at my own journey and that I waited so long.

Goal after I reach my goal.

With 39lbs left to go before plastics in November, I am starting to look towards my next goal. Last weekend, my coworker expressed that she was embarrassed at the gym because she didn't know how to use any of the equipment. I went in an hour before my class with her and showed her a lot of things. I timed her wall squats, showed her proper form, and every time she would say she sucked or was weak, I was the opposite of my usual self and was very motivating and encouraging. She even offered to pay me for the session! I've been thinking a lot about this and how great I felt helping someone else. I think I want to pursue a certificate in personal training in 2020 and do that part-time. It was so fulfilling! And I found myself echoing the things my trainer tells me. He's rubbed off on me!

    "Specialty Plastic Surgeon" too far?

I did call a bunch of other surgeon's in a 50 mile radius of my house and NOT A SINGLE ONE did arm lifts! They ALL just do boob jobs and lipo and facial stuff. Very weird. And several of the receptionist "never heard of" insurance for a tummy tuck and I explained I had gastric bypass and they said "they don't *do* that"... although I probably have less skin on my tummy than someone who gave birth once. Unless he says something totally absurd, I feel good about seeing my guy again.

    "Specialty Plastic Surgeon" too far?

I've been in touch with my plastic surgeon of choice and they said if I want the last week of November to consult beginning of September. I told them it HAS to be November 20-22nd and they said that's no issue. There's never really a wait period, fortunately. It's just getting the pre-op testing done in between. I am going to go in August anyways. The last week in November is the ONLY week I can do it until like... September 2020. I should add I live in a fairly sparsely populated area and the demand for plastic surgery isn't like how it probably is in a metropolitan area. When he did my breast reduction I had the consult one month and the surgery the next.

    Tips on eating slower

I still struggle with this - which inevitably leads to me getting foamies/vomiting. Now I am trying to be more conscious of watching the clock. It really only happens when I am eating snacky stuff like protein chips. It's hard to break the habit of just snacking on chips like you would have pre-op. I need a timer that dings like every minute to signal I can have 1 chip at each minute mark or something. lol.

    Help! Thighs are dying!

I am referring to eating 100 GRAMS of carbs 2 months post-op - and the risk of dumping if you do so. Which I sincerely hope you weren't instructed to do. And why would you want to take that risk? That is stupid. Of course we can eat complex carbs eventually. But I've never heard of any diet plan allowing someone to eat that many carbs to do what this girl is doing so soon post-op. Since it obviously upset you, I will clarify that I my PERSONAL diet plan doesn't have me at 100g of carbs until 12-18 months... which I *believe* I mentioned in one of my comments, but don't feel like going through and looking, tbh. Edit: Oh wait, I literally did mention that I was referencing my plan in my last comment.
