Dating? How do we do this??
mousecat88 replied to KayBes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I, personally, am not dating anyone until I reach my goal and after plastic surgery. I want to focus 100% on myself and this process takes a lot of dedication and time (for me, anyways) and I don't feel like I have the ability to focus or care about anyone other than myself right now in the way that I should if I were in a relationship. As far as just friendships, how you look shouldn't play any role in your friendships. -
Day 5 of the pouch reset and it is going fantastically. I have lost 5lbs this week, and wasn't afforded a lunch yesterday due to a crazy long 5 hour work meeting so I tried eating some jerky and got full after 2/3rds of the stick. Definitely did what it's supposed to. Worked out for 2.5 hours yesterday with the trainer, no issues. Feeling great.

OK guys maybe I’m just pessimistic (I stress maybe) but am I the only one who has found this surgery to be a complete B*TCH?!
mousecat88 replied to HopefulonLI's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry you are going through that. I woke up with the most horrific pain I had ever felt in my life. I was sobbing and they kept pumping fentanyl in me to no avail. Then after 2 hours it randomly disappeared. I also had zero gas pain, which is unusual I think. But then I developed an ulcer a week out and that pain was almost equally as bad and lasted like 8 weeks. People don't talk about those things usually. But it gets better, you live. -
Guys I had an English muffin with cream cheese. And god DAMN it was good but now I feel like I’ve messed everything up!!!!!!

MOM day is my favorite day of the week. LOL. -
Unfortunately some people revert to those things as a new coping mechanism and drink a bit too fast, forgetting they may feel it more. I've drank 3 times since surgery and haven't felt any urge to abuse it or any desire that I *need* a drink or anything like that. My coworker's friend had the surgery and became a heroin addict! She is about 90lbs now and although she is in her 30s she looks like she's in her late 50s, and is in and out of rehab. Definitely a shocking story. I stupidly started smoking again a few months out from surgery because I NEVER had a problem quitting before or picking up a pack and then not buying another for months... but this time was HARD. I haven't smoked for 3 weeks now but I actually felt like I had become addicted to the nicotine which is something I have never experienced before.

I wouldn't recommend continuing to try things to see what your body rejects. Just assume, even if it isn't true, that your body will reject all of those things to keep them out of your mouth. Also you can take Colace 2-3 times per day and Milk of Magnesia for the constipation. I always drop like 3lbs after my weekly Milk of Mag. LOL. -
How much weight did you lose before people noticed?
mousecat88 replied to Summer56's topic in The Gals' Room
At 30lbs it was very noticeable in my face. I think I lost 30lbs only in my face in that first month. lol. After 60lbs, that's when I started getting a lot of comments. -
What was your moment?
mousecat88 replied to TattooedSeaStar's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think mine was a slow build. I was *almost* 300lbs when I had the surgery. I had wanted the surgery back in 2015, but after not losing the required weight for my insurance at the time I lost interest. I just continually hated how I looked in the mirror and was frustrated at the lack of clothing options and my inability to keep pace with my friends when out and about. I also was embarrassed that I could barely reach to wipe after using the bathroom! Little things kept nagging at me like how I had to turn down going to an amusement park because I knew I couldn't fit on the roller coaster seats, or how I couldn't fly anywhere comfortably anymore. So one day last year I called my new insurance company and the process was a lot simpler than my previous insurer so I was like what the heck. It was definitely years of compounding negative thoughts and the inability to do things like a "normal" person that finally snapped. -
Will I be able to train muay Thai after gastric sleeve surgery?
mousecat88 replied to ace090's topic in Fitness & Exercise
You totally should be able to! I am looking into taking Krav Maga classes if I can figure out how to work it into my already packed exercise schedule. -
I do feel the heaviness with the cottage cheese again. I eat a full cup over a half hour, so 8oz, because I want to keep the protein up... but I may cut to 6oz today depending on how I feel later tonight (since it is making me feel fuller than it typically does). It's kind of a bizarre phenomenon because pre-op, if I would fast and then come out of a fast, eating anything would fill me up much quicker and I always attributed it to "shrinking my stomach". It's definitely the same sensation now, but I don't know the cause - whether it is tightening things up a bit or just changing the perception.

Down another pound! lol. I don't feel very hungry at all. Honestly I could stick to this indefinitely if I knew I didn't need to get some more carbs in, lol. My two protein shakes equal 50g of protein + 14g of protein in 2 eggs + 24g of protein in a cup of cottage cheese (which is what I did yesterday) so... 98g! And virtually no carbs. I definitely don't feel full or totally satisfied by the end of the day, but not uncomfortably hungry, either. And I had a very intense workout last night and felt completely fine.

Shoes: I own exactly 100 pairs of shoes. I only wear like 8 of them tops. I can't help itttt. I am always looking for new fly sneakers or heels I will NEVER be able to walk in. LOL. I wear the same 5$ black flats at work every day, despite having about 70 pairs of nice heels and wedges, etc.

November Surgery
mousecat88 replied to shannon_farrar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery last November. I took off two weeks from work, but could have gone back sooner. Just didn't want to. lol. -
Yesterday I had two hardboiled eggs, two protein shakes, and a yogurt. Down over a pound (although I'm sure that's water weight, lol). So far today I've had one shake and one tiny egg white... thing. Planning on one more shake, another egg, and a yogurt.
-
Just some smooshy/liquid stuff right now so there's no fullness or stretching.
-
Yeah, I am going to have 2-3 protein drinks today (soy protein isolate) and one hard-boiled egg for lunch. Possibly a yogurt in the evening. Going to do that for 3 days, then wean off the shakes to some purees.
-
Oh, totally. I usually do eat denser protein, but I have a TONNNN of canned veggies and was like "I have got to start going through some of these" so figured the beans would be a bit of protein with the zucchini. I did NOT expect to be able to eat that much and was mindlessly munching. I usually eat about 3-4oz of dense protein at a time. SOMETIMES I have eaten up to 6, but like twice? I don't feel so terrible eating a lot of non-starchy veggies, but I hope that this "reset" helps with some of the restriction again so I can measure things out and not be hungry! I've had one soy shake today so far (it's 1 here) and I am hungryyyy. Going to have a boiled egg for lunch and a shake in the afternoon. Been drinking a lot of water and tea but unf.
-
I was looking at that schedule and that's "basically" what I am doing except I HAVE to have some protein because of my exercise - I'll pass out and die otherwise. lmao. So, protein shakes in the beginning. Going to mess around with it this week and see how I feel! I noticed I was able to eat an entire half can of pinto beans mixed with a half can of zucchini last night without paying attention and I was like aaaaaaaaaaaa! The fullness is definitely disappearing. I want to restart and start being more conscious again of measuring, which I had stopped because I felt like I was eye-balling correctly (and I was for a while).

It depends on what I am eating. I am 8 months and never eat more than 4-5oz of a dense protein at a time. It will make me feel SO full and terrible if I do. If I am eating cottage cheese, though, I eat a full cup, which is 8oz... but won't stretch the pouch because it's "slidey" and really great for you so I don't feel bad about it. But yeah, anything that would ever cause me to feel fullness or sickness, I stick to just a few ounces. I know my book has specific guidelines, but I haven't looked at my book in months and seem to be doing better than my office expected so I gotta be doing something right.

How many calories do you eat a day?
mousecat88 replied to april042019's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am 8 months out and eat 700-800 calories a day. I work out 6 times per week, 2 days with a trainer doing weights/HIIT, 3 cycling classes, 1 yoga class. -
Stalled stalled stalled

It'll pick up. I stalled for EIGHT WEEKS. Not a single pound lost. Then it started again.
