TY. I've been in physical therapy for 3 weeks (3x a week) or so and it isn't doing anything. I also see an orthopedic massage therapist 2x a week. I am exasperated.

Lower body lift APPROVED!

I am having a TT w/ muscle repair and an arm lift! -
I'd like to get SOMETHING. I just don't know what. I have 3 tattoos currently (formerly had 5, but had 2 removed) with 5 more planned after I finish my plastic surgeries, but those are unrelated to the weight loss surgery.

What's your reason for your obesity
mousecat88 replied to Siyaa Ela's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was 140lbs until age 19. I have had body dysmorphia since age 10 or so. I thought I was super fat so I had 12K in liposuction. After the lipo I still thought I was fat so I decided "screw it" and just started eating whatever I wanted. Thus developing a food addiction in addition to the dysmorphia. Reached my heaviest weight 10 years later, which is when I had surgery. I still have body dysmorphia and at 129lbs I still think I am gigantic. I just have to learn not to say "screw it" and start eating nonstop again... which fortunately I am still unable to do even if I wanted to because I get sick so easily now. Most days I look in the mirror and see someone who belongs in a mumu. But some days I see a stick figure. It is kinda' nutso. -
When my gallbladder went to **** earlier this year, the only signs I had was that I couldn't keep anything down, including water. Was just nauseous and vomiting everything back up.

I went from a 46D to a 36B. I like it a lot better, though. -
Vets - How often do you weigh yourself?
mousecat88 replied to Losebig's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I weigh daily even though it DRIVES ME INSANE seeing weight fluctuations. My psychiatrist told me yesterday that since I have body dysmorphia I should cut back on weighing, but I am obsessive so... if you understand and accept that your weight may fluctuate, daily seems to be pretty common on here. -
Actually going to order it now as a trial run on the "side boob" skin excisions before the "big day" coming up. See if it makes any noticeable difference with 3 weeks of use.... edit: unf. may not arrive until november 13th. ah well. still going to try it.

Thank you! Saving to my wishlist.

Lower body lift APPROVED!
mousecat88 replied to damzelindistres5's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Just a heads up, I am having surgery in 3 weeks and my surgeon said not to buy any additional compression garments until after the drains come out because most do not accommodate where the drain placement will be... so maybe see if your doc has suggestions on that. I also am going to use my BariBear for support for when I have to cough (or go #2). Also, apparently, you want to have a lot of laxatives ready because #2 is painful with muscle repair (so I hear)! Maybe look into scar tape and scar creams? -
Favorite puréed food?

Sushi - 6 Months out

Don't try seaweed salad.... that stuff got stuck and hurt so bad for like 9 hours before it made it's way through. Oh lawd. -
Sushi - 6 Months out
mousecat88 replied to Brent701's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rice is hard. I've had sushi maybe 3 or 4 times and I poke as much rice off as I can. -
Weight fluctuations happen. I bounce from 129 to 133 throughout the week. Also, not to be too TMI, but the best time to weigh is naked, in the morning, after you poop. LOL

Except I am having an arm lift at the same time so I don't know if I'll be able to pull the handle on it. LOL.

My surgery is in 20 days. I bought a recliner last month specifically for this reason. lmao.

Yeah, my surgeon told me to massage the sites I have currently when I shower. I use calendula ointment once a day and scar cream once a day, as well. I am not really pressed about the appearance of these scars... but I do want to minimize the ones that will be on my arms since they will be fairly visible. The ones I have currently are covered by my bra.

RNY for Children - Thoughts?
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think a serious analysis of the household would be needed. If the child has the surgery but then is sent back to the same environment where he is surrounded by the same types of food and no real support or understanding, that's basically a setup for disaster or at minimum a future revision. I also don't agree that gender changing decisions should be made prior to age 18 for similar reason - lifelong impact without a full grasp of implications. I would certainly, in both situations, have the individual be (for the most part) out of puberty. Yes, I realize your brain continues developing for some time after, etc. It just makes me feel.... uncomfortable. Again, I think I would be more amenable to it if the child was exhibiting serious comorbidities but I was super morbidly obese for years without any (except pseudo tumor cerebri just a few months before I had RNY) so, it's not as if everyone needs the surgery immediately. I'd like to see the child have the chance to make the lifestyle changes on their own as an adult if they didn't have comorbidities. Give them a chance to change without the surgery. -
Did you have a lot of back pain at all from being hunched over? You had the muscle repair, correct? How long did it take before you could stand up properly?
-
I was told just to be mindful of protein, carbs, and fat. Nothing higher than 10g carbs, 3g fat, and get 63g of protein a day. At one year out I finally was given a calorie count to shoot for.

Is this too much food?
mousecat88 replied to Panda333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was still in purees at 3 weeks. Definitely just stuck to high protein foods for a long while. But also avocado makes me really sick. ;( -
What are you doing with your new weight loss?
mousecat88 replied to NurseMichael's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Buying clothes in a size small and not even trying them on because I know they'll fit. LOL Woot! No longer suffering from pseudo tumor cerebri! Can't wait to do roller coasters again next summer and wear a bikini. Also just generally way more active. -
my personal little official thread
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Theoretically, yes. BUT, apparently FMLA does not have to be approved for cosmetic surgeries. I recently got a warning that if I used ANY more sick leave, I would be fired. I missed a lot of work this year due to bariatric complications and most recently my back injury, and didn't know enough about FMLA to know I should have requested those issues be covered so they weren't. They had already approved the FMLA for these dates and if I go and change the dates and ask for new FMLA forms to be completed, I am 100% sure they would deny it. I am going to really go over all this next Monday with the plastic surgeon. I also have an appointment scheduled with my rheumatologist on December 6th, the Friday before I would be returning to work post-op, in case I move forward with the surgery but am still in pain. He would be able to prescribe antiinflammatories or something else to hopefully get me through. -
