My surgiversary is 6/18/19. Three years out and I look and feel great! I weighed 280 pre-op and lost 140. My biggest complaint is gas. I was feeling terribly self conscious because I thought I lost too much weight. Took me awhile to get used to it.

NoMoore reacted to MightyBigBob in Not complaining but......
Ok guys, it’s been 10 months & 150 pounds lost so I’m happy thrilled even. My only complaint is I’m wanting sex all the time no really all the time. Let me explain I liked, enjoyed & wanted sex a lot before surgery but now it’s ramped up by 100% it feels like. The slightest thing then I’m trying to hide the bulge In my pants. I’m not complaining but before surgery I never had to hide anything because of the mountain of fat hiding my erections. I’ve gained “access” to about 3 inches & 5x the stamina easily. I’m a widower, currently single but I do have an ex girlfriend who is now more of a friend with benefits situation. She is loving the new me she was the one who encouraged me to have the surgery when others in my friends & family circle didn’t want me to have the surgery. However we can only get together every few weeks & hookers can be expensive (so I’ve been told). I guess what I’m asking is does your body, hormones or whatever calm down after a while.

@NoMoore, how did your surgery go? I stayed about 24h in the hospital, was awake for most of it, walking, walking, and more walking!
how are you doing today?

First post here. I had my sleeve surgery on 6/4 , so I'm 1 week post-op. Doing OK, though still having a lot of pain from my "stomach removal" incision. Walking & moving more every day. Still on liquids for another week. Can drink really well, as long as it's not a BIG gulp! Then it hurts... oh how it hurts!
Finally hit my Protein & liquid goals yesterday. Yay!

Welcome! I'm in Boston as well and having surgery the same day at BMC. I'm halfway through the pre-OP diet. 😫 Good luck!

Congrats! Indeed, there is a wealth of information here. My surgery is 6/18. I already have in my head that I'm going to walk away the pain.

I just got home from the hospital. Surgery went smooth. Gas pain is the worst part. But at least I'm home

Update: everything went well today, was actually up and walking the halls about two hours after getting in my room. Don’t get me wrong the pain can be real. Especially the gas pain, but you know who told me what do when that happens? My WLC family here, so I got my butt up and started walking . It worked. Thank from the bottom of my heart... good night

Start keeping a list to keep your sanity! Like the bumper sticker
KILL THEM ALL; GOD CAN SORT THEM OUT LATER!
Keep muttering This Too Shall Pass! And it will! I knew I had NASH, let's see, non alcoholic Steatohepatitis, is what it really means, in lay terms a Fat Liver, so I did a Liver-shrink the entire month of August 2018, for every week you do it your liver shrinks 4%, so mine was between 12-16% smaller for my surgery. It worked, it worked, and my surgeon complimented me on my mini-liver, told me it was as smooth, small and healthy as a new-born calf, once I was certain he didn't plan to sell me for veal, I was complimented for my hard work. But you do turn into a Stormin' Norma foe awhile. Tomkitten, my son, said like the lepers in the Bible he should have been in front of me carrying a sign" DANGER-STARVING MAMA-BEWARE EVERYONE! But it worked, I lost 15 pounds, felt I had done something to be prepared, and it ended well on Surgery Day! And those are lofty goals.

❤CAMPBELL'S Yes Soup in Butternut Squash, stays down when many others don't, I recommend it!

My list is: sugar-free pudding and sugar free Jello, Protein20 flavored waters, Gatorade zero, cream Soups, chicken broth, sugar free popsicles, unflavored Protein Powder (to mix in pudding, jello, soups...etc), Two Good greek yogurts, Ricotta cheese, 2oz disposable containers (so I can prep stuff before surgery and throw in the fridge), small fork/spoon set, Flinstones chewables, calcium citrate chewables, herbal teas. That should get me through my two weeks of "full liquids" (yes, yogurt and ricotta is on my "full liquids" list) and beyond...
I also bought a new blender to can puree the heck out of anything and everything. I still have to figure out how to pack food for work, but I took two weeks off and I'm working two weeks remote after that so I have some time to decide what to do.

I'm from the south so I'm making Decaf ice tea. I could drink that all day and usually do. I have taste tested the recommended Protein Drinks. I bought one that said cafe mocha, wow it had caffeine, lots. I can't take sugar substitutes so they said drink low sugar Protein drinks. There are several really good ones with 30 g of protein each. I was going to order some clear protein drinks. I remember when I had the band, I don't think I touched chicRemembken broth for years after that. Remember liquids in, liquids out so don't move slow.

I need to get Jello yet, but I'd add beef and chicken broth. I bought Decaf coffee, herbal tea and crystal light. I also picked up some small containers, a new lunchbox for going back to work, and several shot-glass sized measuring cups.

NoMoore reacted to kellyw74 in getting rid of the gas
I had my surgery on Monday and when I woke up, I was in KILLER pain from gas. That was the only pain I had. As the night went on, it just intensified and the next day, I could not even sit up straight or take a deep breath! I was MISERABLE!!
There is NOTHING you can do for that gas pain. I did Gas X, even though my dr. said it wouldn't help, I tried anyway!! LOL!! I tried heating pad, laying on my side and pulling my knees up (as much as I could), kinda like you do a baby, that did nothing. I was just sick I walked A LOT and that did nothing either! I prayed that I would fart or burp, but couldn't!! Man it was awful!!
Finally, about day 3 1/2, I got to tootin' and LOUD!! Tooted one to many times and crapped my pants! LOL Then I had diahreah for 3 days! But, I felt better!
So, it WILL break loose, just have to give it about 3-4 days. Sorry that there isn't anything that will help.
