Understanding being full or Stuck ?
rnmom80 replied to happytobebanded's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have the same problem as you at times. I haven't mastered and eating slowly thing yet and sometimes by the time I realize I've had enough food I'm too full. At first I used to measure every bit of food before I ate it. As long as you're not putting over 1/2 to 3/4 C in the pouch, it should not be overfilled. Good luck! -
I use Zertec which is over the counter now and is really small. Claritin also has a dissolving tablet available now. Zertec works better for me. Good luck!

I had that a while after surgery too. It finally went away on its own. I'm not sure if it was from being intubated causing irritation. By the time I went back for my follow up it had subsided so I forgot to ask about it. Have you seen the surgeon for follow up yet? If not be sure to ask, I'd love to know what it's from.

Was wondering if anyone had band slippage experiences they would like to share. My band was originally placed 11/13/07. I went from 215 lbs to 173 with no problems. I did vomit a few times (dry meat) but not violently. The first of April I fell really hard on a splintered tree trunk which hit to the right of and on my sternum--knocked the wind out of my me, but didn't have any apparent problems related to my band until 2 weeks later when about 3 hours after lunch (5 chicken nuggets) I started vomiting. Not a lot came up at first, then it started turning black and I was in agony. It was a Friday night so instead of paging my surgeon like I should have, I waited until Monday morning (I lost 8 lbs from dehydration). When he did the upper GI it showed a major slippage and stomach prolapse. I went to surgery Monday evening and the surgeon said my stomach was twisted and there was a lot of scar tissue. He thinks the trauma from falling may have precipitated it, but I'm worried it may happen again. The pain involved was up there with childbirth (without an epidural!) I'm rebanded now 5 days post-op and feeling OK. Anyone out there have a similar experience?

I actually lost between surgery and my first fill 12 - 15 lbs. My doctor said the initial swelling causes some restriction and feeling of fullness. I have talked to other patients in the waiting room who have said they gained before the first fill. Good luck!

New to this..and getting all the negative remarks

I've tried reasoning with people who say "all you have to do is eat less" by telling them I agree, that's why I had the procedure so I can "eat less" It usually doesnt' work though. Don't you just want to say MYOB! -

Any Phen-Fen folks out there?

I took phen-fen and lost 60 lbs. No echo ordered for me just standard EKG. Do you have any cardiac symptoms? -
Bands eroded, slipped or still successful bands?
rnmom80 replied to PamRN's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My band slipped 6 months after placement. Possibly caused by trauma 2 weeks before symptoms (I fell really hard on a splintered tree trunk which hit me to the right of my sturnum right about band level) Stomach was also prolapsed and twisted. Was deathly ill for 3 days--thought I had the flu. If this happens again, I'll have the band removed permanently!
