  1. Friends, I am a little over two months post-op. Overall, I have done extremely well, down 60lbs, feeling great and looking forward to achieving my goals. Unfortunately, I have been occasionally having a cocktail while watching football which disinhibits my appetite control and I wind up eating more than I should or can. Anyone have any suggestions to address this problem? Thanks very much.
  2. Happy Sunday, After more than two months of water, water, water I am looking to spice things up with some flavor enhancers. Most of the products such as Mio have sucralose, etc in them. Does anyone have any information on how these are tolerated post RNY?

    Sleeve or Bypass... help!

Greetings, If you have true, biopsy proven Barrett's esophagus I would be VERY concerned about having VSG. The risks of RNY with a good surgeon are similar to have your gallbladder removed. Best of luck.

Greetings September Buddies, RNY 9/6 and down 60lbs. Only hurdle is when I have a vodka martini. Shalom.

    1 week post opt

Alt, Sorry to hear about your "issue". I almost wound up in the ER with the same problem. Please do yourself a favor, pound the water, start on Miralax (one dose/day) and Coalce (2-3/day). That was the regimen that my surgeon recommended and saved my life. Feel better.
  8. Sorry to hear about your difficulties. I am 2+ months post RNY. If you are having trouble swallowing it sounds like you may need an UGI or endoscopy to see what's happening. Have you contacted your surgeon? Since the surgery I belch very frequently. I am told it's normal and resolves over time. Hope this helps. Feel better.

    Constipation

I was two weeks post-op when I became impacted and thought I was going to DIE. I started on a dose of Miralax every day as well as 3 colace tablets daily. Pound the water too. Best of luck.

    Loneliness

Hello, Your feelings are certainly understandable given what you have been through. However, you have taken a huge first step by getting out of an unhealthy relationship. Now its time to start taking care of yourself by doing the things that will help you heal and get healthy. For me that meant resuming relationships with friends and family, working with a trainer and doing some volunteer work. It takes time but believe it or not you are already on the road to a healthier, happier you. Best of luck. Shalom.

    1 week post op

Greetings, I had RNY on 9/6. When I went for my first post op visit I had GAINED 8lbs. I asked the surgeon if he did a sham surgery! A week later I was down 15 lbs and have never looked back. Get in your fluids, protein, and vitamins and good things will happen. Best of luck.

I'm 60. Anyone else over 50 doing RNY?

You will do great. Grey hair in a surgeon is awesome.

Everybody is different. I went back after two weeks. One week seems a bit tight.

I'm 60. Anyone else over 50 doing RNY?

Hi! 61 years young. I had RNY 9/6 with no problem. Rather than age its important to consider comorbidities such as DM, HTN, etc. The good news is these tend to resolve after weight loss. Go for it... it will be a life saver.
