    50 and Up Sleevers

My band had caused my esophagus to dilate - I gained 20 lbs back in 1 year and couldn't figure out why until I started regurgitating food back up into my mouth when I lay down. It was removed in April and it was a struggle to maintain while I waited for it to heal for the sleeve surgery in Nov.

    50 and Up Sleevers

I was sleeved 11/27/18 - 1 month before my 66th birthday. Losing VERY slowly (because I had the band prior to this) but bounced back extremely rapidly, and feeling great!
  3. My band was removed April 2018, and I had to wait for my dilated esophagus to shrink back to normal (I was told minimum of 3 months). While it was healing, I had to go through the program again including nutrition and psychologist. I finally had my sleeve done 2 weeks ago (11/27). No problems so far. Good luck.

    50 and Up Sleevers

I had my sleeve on 11/27 and will be 66 12/23. It will be interesting to see what the weight loss is like compared to what I see with the younger set.

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

I was done on the 27th and went home noon on the 28th. I needed the dilaudid up until bedtime on the 29th. After that it's been tylenol 2-3 times a day. But I have fibromyalgia, so I'm accustomed to a constant low level of pain that i don't take anything for. If you're not used to being in pain, you need the meds.

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Surgery was 11/27, and I was released at noon the next day. It's been over 24 hours that I have just been using occasional tylenol. Drinking doesn't hurt, and my sips don't have to be that small. I feel like I've got it easy compared to some of you. I've been able to meet my fluid and protein goals with no problem. I hope this isn't the calm before the storm. I'm finally below the weight I was on surgery day - I gained 7 lbs of fluid. I go in for my 1 week visit on Tuesday.

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Home from the hospital in only 24 hours! Feeling pretty good on pain meds. Made my protein and fluid goals for today. Last night in the hospital was pretty rough, so looking forward to sleeping in my own bed.

Any gastric sleeve patients with Fibromyalgia

My PCP said much the same thing. We were discussing whether I should go back on fibro meds, given that ones I had been on before caused a lot of my weight gain. I am waiting to see how I do without them. I am counting on the weight loss to help.

Any gastric sleeve patients with Fibromyalgia

Since my retirement 2 years ago, my fibro has been fairly stable, with sleep problems the major issue that I've been having (which of course leads to fatigue and muscle tension). I'm having surgery tomorrow and I'm hoping for the best. I haven't been on fibro meds other than muscle relaxer at bedtime for about 18 mo, so not sure how I'll do with pain. I will be following this to see if I can get pointers in dealing with it.

    NOVEMBER SLEEVERS

I'm scheduled for 11/27. I have pre-op class 11/6, nutrition and final surgeon visits on the 7th, pre-op physical on the 15th and pre-admission testing on the 19th. I'm ready for this!
  14. I'm in the same boat, as a retired NP (women's health). I'm less than 4 weeks from my scheduled surgery. What I did is watch several videos of the actual surgery and saw how "routine" they make it seem, and that settled my mind a bit. I also watched quite a few Youtube VSG people to get a sense of how they handled the surgery - a lot of variation there! So for me, more information is better, and I am getting the sense that this is one of the more lower risk procedures. I am more nervous about starting the IV, since the last time I had surgery it took 17 tries and they finally used my EJ (external jugular)!
