    Gum?

Chewed it starting week 3. No issues 2 months later.
  2. So my surgeon said you have a greater risk of hernia form sneezing or coughing initially after surgery. He said there was a 10# lifting limit the first 2 weeks and after that said to take it slow and stop if it feels like I am straining. So here I am at almost 6 weeks post surgery and I have done cardio and very low weight higher reps at the gym on machines, not free weights. I am starting to do house things like easy gardening and vacuuming without pain. I am scared to push it and would like to know when you felt you could push yourself. Thanks,
  3. I only gained 15 pounds during pregnancy but went for a DD to H. After the pregnancy they did not go down. I would suggest waiting since you have no idea how your body would respond. If you are thinking of getting something now maybe do your thighs since if you only gain 20-30 lbs. with a pregnancy that wouldn't change much. Also thigh surgery is a pretty rough recovery if you were caring for an infant or toddler in the future. Just my 2 cents.

    Back to work!!!

I would suggest getting a thermal cup that you can put a protein shake in and it will stay cold for hours. Then if you can get a few sips in here and there hopefully you could drink at least half if not the whole shake over your shift. Then you don't feel you have to push yourself to eat a lot at lunch. I would choose a slider food like high protein yogurt or cottage cheese for lunch. Make sure you can easily eat chicken, tuna etc on your own before trying those at work. If you sit during your lunch maybe have your phone out playing a game or watching a video to help pace yourself. Then you can take a bite of your lunch after every game, 2 min clip etc.
  5. I don't go back to the surgeon until the 6 month appointment. They didn't say anything about blood work. When did you get labs drawn to check for deficits? Is it annually after that?

    I’m so weak and tired

Try the protein shake thinned out with milk. I only tolerated it ice cold initially. Maybe just try Fairlife milk and see if that is tolerable and work up to the shakes? What about soups? I was allowed low fat cream of chicken, mushroom etc. but I had to strain the pieces out. Maybe try that. I would only do 2 tablespoons, wait an hour, try 2 more etc. Otherwise maybe low sugar yogurt, it can be flavored but not chunks of fruit.

    Gallbladder Warriors! Sound familiar?

My gallbladder looked fine from the ultrasound but I had a HIDA test for the function of the gallbladder and it showed that it was not working well. Surgery improved the symptoms.
  8. Go back to basics. Maybe just water for a few hours. Then try milk and give it a few hours before advancing to protein shakes. Then just protein shakes for the next day.

    4 weeks out high protein

if meat is to dry add plain greek yogurt or sour cream or low fat mayo. I even made deviled eggs.

    4 weeks out high protein

tuna, canned or packets of chicken, eggs- scrambled or boiled

    4 weeks out high protein

yogurt (greek), cottage cheese, ricotta cheese (can put cinnamon and spenda with it, look up Shelly's ricotta bake, refried beans with our without cheese added, Wendy's chili, milk (Fairlife has more protein), or get Unjury non flavored protein powder and add it to soups and puddings
  12. Have you tired other things. Just curious if you asked for a referral to see a physical therapist to rule our a pinched nerve from your back or rib cage. I would suggest keeping a journal to see what you do to make the pain come on. Is it after eating, 1 hour after eating. Can you make it hurt in certain positions consistently? Any pins an needles, that would indicate a nerve issue? Do you have a blood pressure cuff to see if your pressure is high during the pain? Can you maybe see a cardiologist to rule out heart issues. They may put you on a home monitor to see if your heart beat is off. I too would guess gastro stuff but if they can't find anything maybe look at other body systems. Good luck

    TMI periods

I did make sure I got extra protein and fluids. So now anticipating the next cycle I have already increased my calories and proteins. I was exhausted last month. I didn't leave the house for 48 hours. It only lasted 2-3 days heavy and gone by 4-5 days.

    TMI periods

Yes!! I normally have no big deal every month. Then I had one a month after surgery. OMG!!! I thought I would need to get a transfusion. I t was worse that after delivering a baby. From what I have read that's common but it gets better after a few months.

    Pounds lost

2 months and lost 24. I had no pre op diet and started at 198lbs.

    Deliberately eating to much

I agree re. the therapist part but I would recommend getting smaller utensils. You can go to a dollar store and buy tiny disposable spoons and forks meant for appetizers. Then portion out your food- measure everything!! Early on I even took a bite, played a game on my phone or watched 3 min of TV then took another bite. That made it take 45 min. to eat just 1 egg. That built the habit of eating slowly. Maybe try that.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

I just went to the nutritionist yesterday for 8 week post op. In my program I cna now begin veggies. They suggest cooked initally then a few dyas later try that vegetable raw. She said lettuce esp. ice berg is the last thing to try. I guess the strings in it cna cause issues. She also siad that can happen with celery and asparagus. I had cooked spinach without issue but I wont tyr it raw for a few more weeks. Was this the first time you had lettuce?
  18. I’m 7 weeks posts and still get 550-600/day. I’m wondering if that’s too little.
  19. My first period a few weeks post op was horrendous. Comparable to after delivering a child. I read this is normal but my question is does this last just 1-2 cycles or does it take 6 months plus to return to your pre op normal?
  20. Almost 7 weeks post bypass. I have been able to eat and drink without much issue. Last night I had about 2 ounces of salmon. Felt ok but full, drank some water about an hour later and it felt full compared to my normal to the point that I skipped my Chewable vitamin. But not painful. Then this morning I had some water, later went to have a shake and it’s uncomfortable. I tried about 4 oz over 30 min and switched to water. Then I got 12 ounces of the water in about an hour without issue. I went back to the shake and it was really painful with one sip. I even got a little nauseous. So water only the rest of the day. It feels kind of tight. I later tried a few ounces of the shake and it seemed ok. So now I tried a quarter of a piece of cheese (had it before without issue). Now I have an ache in the middle of my back like I did earlier today. I don’t have any sign of a leak no fever high heat rate etc. Could trying salmon make me feel ok initially but 12 hours later feel bad. Today when I drink I do burp some occasionally. I have no idea what’s going on and I’m worried something is wrong. Any ideas??

    Broke out in sweat

I’m betting the house dressing had a lot of sugar in it.
  22. Constipation can be so bad it sends people to the ER. If you had a BM Monday and Tuesday it was from your previous food intake. I’m betting it’s constipation from the sudden change unless it’s a crazy coincidence that it’s your gallbladder or something.

    No Energy!

I’m tired if I stay home and don’t do a lot. If I am out and about I’m fine. On another note, are you drinking protein shakes? I’m impressed with your protein intake. If I try to get protein from other sources my calories go up a lot and I can barely get 60grams in.

    Dermabond

Try to keep them on. They hold the edges of the wound together. The less tension, the less scarring. My started peeling at 10 days and were gone by 20 days.
  25. One thing to consider is that if you go thru insurance and hit your max out of pocket fees then other medical and dental expenses you may have for the rest of 2019 may be covered at 100%. Also you airfare to Mexico increases the cost. Insurance may cover after care you need like the nutritionist, follow up etc. and if you go to Mexico they may not.
