I don't know if it's a jealously thing but I think people meet you at a certain size, hair a certain color or length, married or single etc and if then don't see you for a long time or you had a sudden change it seems "wrong". I have felt that way seeing a once married friend and the next time I saw her she was dating a new person, lost weight, had a hair cut. It was a shock to her as someone different than I was used to.

Incision pain several months after surgery?
2Bsmaller18 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m 5+ months RNY. I’m past my goal at 140lbs. The past 2 weeks intermittently I will get a quick twinge. Not pain just a twinge usually near the incision sites. Maybe 3-4 of the sites randomly. My guess is maybe the nerves that were cut are growing back or that since I’ve lost a lot that the fat padding the sites isn’t as thick so the skin etc is more tender. Anyone relate to this? -
Incision pain several months after surgery?
2Bsmaller18 replied to 2Bsmaller18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It’s more on the surface, maybe an inch deep. I also get a very mild discomfort occasionally I think just below the pouch. Usually after eating. This pain is more of a quick zing vs the pouch is more a dull ache or nausea. -
Clothing question. So if you shop now for a size 6/8/10 or small top and lose another 10 pounds can you still wear those clothes like you did at 200 pounds with an x-large too or size 16 pants? How many pounds once you get so close to a normal BMI do you need the next smaller size? Just trying to figure out current verses probable future size.

Why no yogurt in first 2 wks post OP?
2Bsmaller18 replied to texasnewf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was allowed yogurt and low fat cream soups (cream of mushroom etc) but I had to strain the soup to get the chunky pieces out. -
Can you call the doctor and ask about yogurt? Every doctor has their own protocol but I was able to have yogurt after a few days. I got the high protein Greek ones with low sugar.
-
What about protein water? It has a dry after taste but over ice it’s ok.

How do you increase your calories?

I am 4.5 months out from RNY. Obviously most of us get loose skin from the rapid weight loss. I wanted to ask others how long it took for their skin to tighten up. I am assuming people still lose weight and still have loose skin and I know it varies a lot but would you say it was really loose and some tightened around 6 months? 8 months? at what point did your skin tightening max out-- a year? So far I am 50 lbs. down and it's not too bad but I am wondering if it will actually look better in a few months even thought I will probably lose another 20 lbs.

Stage 1 Diet and Ice Cream
2Bsmaller18 replied to anna_queen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Freeze sugar free pudding in a popsicle mold or just a plastic cup. You can eat a few tablespoons of whipped cream over sugar free jello or pudding (orange jello and whipped cream reminds me of an orangesicle. -
I read that typically people lose 5-15 pounds the first 2 weeks, then it slows to 1-2 pounds week.
-
I had that with beans but suffered through. I read on here that you can mix 1/4 teaspoon of meat tenderizer with a tiny bit of water and sip that. I guess it’s supposed to help break down the meat. I’ve never tried it.

Sorry this is a gross question. Pre surgery when you vomit it is often a large amount and is not discreet to anyone nearby or in the public bathroom you could be in. After surgery you eat once a few ounces. Is it still obvious if you get sick or is it more discreet? I'm guessing its not projectile and not as obvious. I'm just wondering it seems like a lot of people vomit after surgery at some point at work, out in public etc and I am wondering how obvious it is to coworkers etc.

I am only a few months out from surgery. I had dumping form eating too fast and once from flavored medicine that had sugar in it. I have been really strict re no bread, pasta, potatoes etc. The only carbs/sugars I get are from vegetables. so eventually does dumping get better? From what I understand a year form now I could eat a tiny piece of birthday cake or 1 piece of chocolate on a special occasion. At this point I feel like I am always going to be too scared to ever try it. I am too scared to even try a cracker.

I am almost 3 months out. My doctor has a food plan of introducing all proteins at 4 weeks, start vegetables at 2 months, potatoes (all varieties) at 4 months, fruits at 6 months and all foods at 1 year. The nutritionist said try some fruits at 2 months as they may be easier to digest vs vegetables however be aware of carbs/sugars etc. A lot of others post here about potatoes and oatmeal a few weeks after surgery. So far all is well but I feel like I am not getting natural vitamin sources with such a limited diet. I do take calcium and bariatric multivitamin. I'm in a rut and stick to a premier shake, yogurt, some meat (protein, tuna, egg) and some limited vegetables like carrots, cauliflower, and broccoli. Is anyone else trying chia seeds? ground flax? fruits this early post op? I asked about nuts and the nutritionist said to try it slowly. When I look at Keto recipes they have a lot of foods I have not tried yet. I am feeling a little overwhelmed so I just stick with my basic foods. I have lost an average of 3 pounds per week form month 2-3 on 600 calories and started at a BMI of 35 so I think I may be losing too fast (I never thought that would be a concern). Any tips?
-
So I am over 3 months post op. I had a one brief 1 week stall but otherwise I am consistently at 2-3 lbs/week. I know everyone is different etc. but did you lose quickly until month 3, 4 or 6 then slow down and stay at that rate for months? Did your weight loss stay steady until 6 months out? Did it just slowly decrease over time?

It doesn’t make sense to me however from an insurance perspective I would probably just do it. I would assume that you will end up paying your deductible etc this calendar year with WLS anyway so at least the mammogram would also go towards that. On the other hand a lot of younger women get false positives and have to get an ultrasound etc which ends up being a lot of unnecessary stress.

Warning dumping from Milk of Magnesium
2Bsmaller18 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To deal with constipation I take a half dose of milk of magnesium every 1-2 days. I bought the sugar free non flavored one and got the cherry flavored. I used the cherry flavored one before but got some reason tonight OMG I thought I had a structure and needed to go to the ER. It started with a little nausea, stomach cramping then full on shakes, diarrhea and finally I threw up the Milk of mag and felt instantly better. Not 100% but better. -
When did everyone start getting blood drawn to check for your levels? 6 months after? A year?
-
I take proadvantage since it has everything in 1 pill per day. Except 3 calcium’s since you can’t absorb more than 500 mg of calcium at a time and from what I understand you can’t absorb iron with calcium. I gave not heard about not being able to absorb B12 but that you don’t absorb a lot of it. I think it is a really high dose in the multivitamin. I think since it is water soluble you just pee out the excess it’s not causing liver damage etc. I think I need to tease arch the sublingual.
-
So would it be safe to assume if we hit the 4 month mark then chances are you won’t have hair loss? Or seems like everyone lost it right at the 3 month mark.
-
I read about dissolving some meat tenderizer in an ounce of water and drink that. I’ve never tried it personally.
-
New vitamin? Even same brand but a new bottle? The inactive ingredients could have changed.

I wonder if your heart rate is so high getting out of bed because your pressure is so low, as in your body in trying to prevent low blood pressure by increasing the hear rate to keep you form passing out. Can you check your heart rate and blood pressure lying in bed before you get up?
